I'm almost done with the next Dracosuchid, but I need to know if developed a wishbone or not so I know whether I need to include it in dracosuchids or not. |

The furcula appears to be a unique feature of neotheropods that stems as far back as coelophysids, so I'd say that the furcula didn't evolve in conjunction with flight, but rather was adapted to use in flight, much like feathers. I think it was originally used for respiration with air sacs or something. The furcula isn't present in bats or pterosaurs either (which personally I think would make better comparisons for dracosuchids), so it doesn't look necessary for flight. I'd have to say that dracosuchids wouldn't evolve a wishbone. |

It might be worth nothing though that if the brachiopatagium connects to the body just in front of the hips (as in Silvadon gigas), that would imply that the glenoid is quite high on the body, so the majority of the pectoral girdle would be made up of the coracoid, while the scapula would be fairly level with the spine (as in birds). |
