Genus: Silvadon
Species: gigas
Name means: Giant Wood Tooth

Stats:
Average size: 6-7 feet long, 4-5 feet at the top of the neck
Average weight: 30-40 pounds
Notable features: S-shaped neck, hyper elongated fifth finger that forms a wing large enough for short flights
Location: Patagonia, Brazil, Argentina, and Chile
Temporal Range: 175 MYA-165 MYA

Description: Dark brown, with white stripes running the length of its body. Head is white, with black rings around the eyes, and a pair of short white horns over the eyes. Neck, back and most of the tail covered in smooth scutes, with the last third having a small rudder of scutes to steer in flight.
Fifth finger is hyper elongated, giving a 6 foot wingspan, the wings connecting just in front of the hips. The wings are tan, with white stripes along the back edge, the tips white.
Skull is short and triangular, lacking venom but being powerful, designed to rip and tear into protomammals.

Facts:
One of the first fliers of the group ( albeit only for short distances), Silvadon was a MASSIVE breakthrough for Dracosuchid evolution. Aside from being larger than its river dwelling cousin Aethercleptis, Silvadon is much more adapted for true flight, possessing more well developed wings, as well as hollow bones, making it extra light for its size.
Silvadon is built to hunt. Aside from its much larger size, its jaws are powerful, with curved serrated teeth meant to rip and tear into flesh. At 7 feet long max, it’s by no means a top predator, facing competition from rauisuchids, as well as predation from them. To counter this Silvadon is one of the first dracosuchids to form packs, albeit more akin to mobs that true pack hunting. These packs typically consist of one to two males, each with three females that they mate with. When hunting animals as big as or larger than themselves, the male will usually run the animal first, leading it to the females, which will hide in the trees, who jump down onto the animal and attack, generally going for the neck.
Silvadon have no specific breeding season, males breeding with their females throughout the year. Eggs are laid in a mound of compost, and receive some parental care, though once they hatch after a 7 month incubation they hatchlings will leave the nest, as they run the risk of being eaten by the female, who will not leave the nest and feeds on what the male brings back for her.
