Arbrosuchaids, A Sister group of Dracosuchaids. This is a Group i propose, i know i already have Frost on my side, but i was wondering about the rest of you two So i'll list the Species i already have Early Arbrosuchaids the First Arbrosuchaids, Eoarbrosuchus-very similar to the ancestor of its Sister Group, the Dracosuchaids, Better at Climbing Trees, has a Somewhat lengthened skull -amazonensis:The First Arbrosuchaid, Originating in the Amazon area around the same time of Dracosuchaids, Adapted to climb trees, hunted insects mostly, but possibly omnivorous. -parkersoni:related to amazonensis, living farther south than amazonensis, more adapted than its relative, but was outcompeted by other early arbrosuchaids. --Parabrosuchus-Has two Species that are not named yet, Has a Shorter skull than Eoarbrosuchus, has a better skill at climbing trees as well. --Proarbrosuchus:Sister of Parabrosuchus, Better at Climbing than its ancestor and its sister genus. Outcompeted Both -acanthius: had taller dorsal plates mostly for display, claws have a more pronounced curve. -aciculadon: had thinner Teeth, insectivorous like its ancestor & sister genus. ---Arbrosuchus: The Most Advanced of the Early Arbrosuchaids, Claws have pronounced curves. Very well adapted for life in the Trees, Insectivores -major: Largest of the Early Arbrosuchaids, lived in what is now central america. had Smaller ear crest than A.jacksonii -jacksonii: Lived in Lower North America, has small crest behind the ears, probably to help with hearing for prey Advanced Arbrosuchaids Later Forms that evolved from Arbrosaurus, This part of the Group is still under Work, and theres only One Genus, but 3 species Panthrosuchus-Big cat Analogs of Afro-Eurasia,they have short deep skulls, Very pronounced curved Claws, and Short Saber teeth, Alive in the Present Day -megalonychus: The Smallest and Oldest species, Now rare, but originally inhabited a large area of Africa to China, but Some gave rise to the more successful species. --atrox: The African Species akin to lions, they only seasonally group up for breeding, They do mob larger Prey, but hunting groups usually disband after. Grows up to 4-5 Feet at the Shoulder. --orientalis The Chinese Species and the Largest. Somewhat Akin to tigers, has long saber teeth, Rarely seen with others except for the breeding season. Can grow up to 5 feet at the Shoulder. If you have any Genus or Species to suggest or have Suggestions for Arbrosuchaids in general, let me know. (these may or may not be in reference to Arbrosaurs by Dougle Dixion) |

Okay now this is freaking me out because I was considering suggesting an arboreal group of sphenosuchians, as a sister lineage to dracosuchids, with nearly the exact same name (I wrote them down as "arborosuchids"). What I had in mind was pretty much the same as what you've described here, although I'd only ever looked at them as similar to primatomorphs and never really considered them as becoming felid-analogues, so I'm liking the sound of that. One question though, why are the suffixes all "-aids"? Do you mean "arbrosuchoids"? |

Well Then. "boo mother****er" Well, i don't know all the suffix rules, But i guess And the Panthrosuchus are only one group of Advanced Arbrosuchoids, so there could be monkey like ones aswell. Edited by Dilophoraptor, Mar 17 2014, 11:31 PM.

Any arboreal mammalian niche could feasibly be fair game for these things, in theory. |

Bare in mind that geosuchids have arboreal forms to...You can see them as potential threats or as a snack. |

![]() I present the basal Advanced Arbtosuchoid, What sets it apart from its Ancestors is a sideways facing Finger. Evolving near the End of the Cretaceous. This one is considered the earliest of the Panthrosuchaids, which appeared around the End of the Eocene, and gave rise to many of the Cat like Crocs that appeared during the Cenozoic, but only a Few Genre survive to the present day. Interesting, So with the cat-like ones they could feed on the weasel-like geosuchids while the geosuchids feed on the monkey-like ones. Will any become herbivores or omnivores? |

Well that opens a few things for me to work on... These things can be the mongeese while the Geosuchids are the weasels I guess. Also Dilo are the open for free commissions? I'd like a few pics for my own project. |

![]() Did some Advanced Arbrosuchoids, Namely Panthrosuchus orentalis and some undescribed Monkeycrocs from Madagascar. Advanced Arbrosuchoids, especially Epicephalaid (Display heads) are known for their ornamentation, most Arbrosuchoids are known for the hump behind the base of the tail, but only Epicephalaids are known for the False Ears they bare on their heads, such ornamentation can range from slight ridges and notches above the ear, to some truly interesting displays, especially in Madagascar. The Lower Right corner exhibits the hand structure for Epicephalaids and closely related Arbrosuchoids, showing a four fingered hand, one of which are a side turned claw, the marker between Primitive and Advanced Arbrosuchoids. I will definitely get more Advanced Arbrosuchoids out later. I'll Probably Focus on New World or Madagascan Arbrosuchoids next. |

![]() So here We are, the Island of Madagascar, Home of the Primatosuchaids, a Sister to the Pantherosuchaids. The Island is home to many unique specimens of Monkeycrocs, Like the Collared, which is known for its fishing habits, the Ground Monkeycroc and Catfaced Monkeycroc are both herbivorous Monkeycrocs that feeds mostly on False Fruits of the Islands native plants. The Dwarf Monkeycroc is the Smallest of any Advanced Arbrosuchoid, only reaching 6 inches in length. Gremlins are known for being one of the Few mainly carnivorous Monkeycrocs of the island, as many are obligate Omnivores or Herbivores. But one of these Things don't look belong, The False Monkey croc is one of the Few Modern Pantherosuchaids not in the Genus Panthrosuchus, using its Similar build to prey on an Unsuspecting contemperary known as the Black Tipped Monkey Croc. This Island is known to house the only Herbivorous Arbrosuchoids. ![]() ] Now we are in South America, Where a Different Branch of Similar Arbrosuchoids rule the Treetops, The Rugosuchaids! Many of these Crocs inhabit these Forests, Named for the rough appearance of their ornamentation, which mostly consists of Lengthened scales. Most use them for Display, but one has found a way to use their Elongated Scales a better way, The Fisher Treecroc is known for using the Elongated Scale on its Nose to lure fish to its mouth, where it strikes with a somewhat elongated neck. Most other Treecrocs hunt lizards in the trees. |
