Silepoda:

The Little grand canyon formation in Pennsylvania was once a small flood plain consisting of ferns, cycads, and other plant material from the era. Due to this, many animals are well preserved in what was once mud and wetland. Along with the more primitive Silesaurids, the newly established group silepoda is also seen within the remains in the formation. One species though not ask large as later species, is still fairly larger than the other silesaurs around it. This topic will focus on early silepods and the findings at the LGC formation.

Scientific Name: Prototitan. Pennsylvaniaensis
Meaning: early titan from Pennsylvania
Common name: The Little grand canyon silepod
Age: Rhaetian
Diet: high level soft plant matter.
Location: Northeastern united states
Habitat: seasonal semi-dry flood plain
Description: Holotype was of a foot long skull of a large animal, a incomplete skeleton found later showed a individual that was about 10 ft tall and 15 ft long. Tail was long with the last vertebra being ball in socket like the whipped tail of our world's diplodocids. It resembled its silesaurid relatives only it was larger with a thicker body. Claws on the feet are large and pointed.
Notes: Holotype was of a incomplete skull lacking the tip of the lower jaw and a brain case. The only other known specimen is a incomplete skeleton with teeth marks on the shoulder blade. Whether is was attacked or scavenged or what ate it is unknown at the moment.
Behavior: It's the tallest herbivore found in its formation, it may have possibly bullied its way to drinking holes and food sources. Remains have been found with nothing similar nearby so this may have indicated that the animals are lone males like elephants or that the species was solitary altogether.
Breeding Behavior: Large claws may have been used for swatting at rivals be it their own species for mating reasons or at predators. From what we have so far, we can't give a clear picture into the possible mating behaviors of these animals.
Other: Animal is named after the state all known material is found and as a indicator for the giant animals found later in Jurassic and Cretaceous rocks.
