The boy looked at the ground and sighed, shrugging, "She doesn't think I'm older enough- she thinks I'll get hurt and she doesn't think Krabby and me know what we're doing! He helps her do dishes! Even if she always screams at him and me to get out of there, that he can't bubble beam her dishes and that his claws are scratching her porcelain!" he huffed, exciteable and shrugging.

"But grandpa says when I can catch three Pokemon on my own, then he'll take me to get my license and get a real starter- and not even she can argue against the power of a starter, or me having so many Pokemon to fend for me. He even said he's sure Krabby'll evolve sometime soon!"

Luka smiled softly, nodding happily and patting Wayne on the shoulder. "Your mom's just worried about you. Parents can be like that, find it hard to see eye-t'-eye with their kids." She ruffled the boy's hair, and looked down at the Pokemon on her belt. "Well, you only need two more Pokemon to go. And that shouldn't be hard now that you know how to catch them~"

The tomboy girl smiled at the young lad, looking at the restoration machine and then thinking a bit. "So, where's this uncle of yours? You said 'e leeves don't he?"

Luka looked up, seeing that the rain might be clearing up a little bit very soon. It was relatively light right now, though.

The boy grinned, shrugging, "Probably out huntin', he says there might be some challenges for his Pokemon." he grinned, then tilted his head, "Wanna help me catch some more Pokemons? Or are you waitin' for Wade?"

The boy fidgeted with his Pokeballs, doublechecking them and giving a tooth-ache inducing grin down to his Geodude, despite the Geodude's glare up at him.

Luka looked up at the sky and shrugged. "I dunno... No idea where Wade is. He and I were supposed to meet up in Ashmere, but I have a feeling I got to the registration center before he did... so I dunno if he's even en route yet." She looked over at Wayne and smiled.

"I guess I can help you track down more Pokemon. Sure, I'd be glad to~" The girl smiled at the little boy's enthusiasm and desire to get on his journey. "Where do you want to try and go next?"

"Somewhere where there might be a Shinx! They're cute and I like to pet them.... even if they always thundershock me when I try to pet them." he frowns, tilting his head to Luka at that, "But I know they'd be a really good team with a water type or a ground type!" he nods, tilting his head, "I just dunno where to begin looking for one, they're always moving about."

He shrugged, reaching into his cargo shorts and pulling out a hand drawn map of the Route, looking to her with a grin. He pointed to three different regions out of seven or eight.

"They like to go to the mountainside, but there's lots of Zubats there too." he nods, "Then there's the plains, they like to go there but there's always annoyin' Ratattas." and then he pointed to the forest, "And they might be there but there's always bug types and I don't got Pokemon that have type effectiveness against bug types."

"Well, I've got Torch. He's a fire-type, so he should be decent against bug-types. Though, he doesn't know any Fire-type moves yet..." She thinks more. "And my Emolga's part Flying-type... What else is good against bugs?"

She thinks back to school, trying to remember the chart they memorized last year before exams... And it clicked.

"Actually, you do have a Pokemon good against Bugs." She said to the boy, rubbing her elbow against his arm. "You've got Geodude... Geodude's a Rock-type. Rock-types are very good against bugs. Rocks squash bugs."

She looked down at the map and made a soft humming noise. She looked around and wondered what was up.

"Rock-types and Electric-types are good on Flying-types like Zubat. So, if we go there, we could scare them away... if your Geodude knows some Rock-type moves, of course. The Rattata shouldn't be too hard to get rid of. There's lots of them, but they scare easy."

"Which do you think would be best, Wayne?" She asked, wanting the boy's opinion before she drags him off somewhere dangerous.

The boy simply shrugged, leaving it up to her where they'd go- she was older and his protection in this, after all.

"I don't care, bug pokemons never scared me anyways- but who says my Geodude'd listen to me just because I caught it?"

Luka nodded, wondering about Wayne's question. "Hmm~ that's a good point. I guess it kinda makes sense that it might not be happy with being caught right after you catch it... I have a feeling that the Eevee I caught might not be too happy with me, either."

She looks down at its Pokeball, judging to see how it is. It doesn't look too cheerful, almost as if it's disappointed at letting itself be caught by a rookie trainer. She sighed softly and looked at the boy. "I guess we have to let the Pokemon we have get to know and like us better. So, come on. Let's try the plains. A few Rattata won't be a big issue to get through~"

The boy nodded, and soon bolted towards the plains with a grin, slowing himself slightly because of the rain and because he wanted her to be able to keep up- the exact speed could be a strange bit depending on the obstacles they faced.

OOC;Roll a D4, this determines how many posts you have to make before you get to the plains. The result is the number of posts which must be made before you get to the plains, with each post providing the chance of me spawning a random Pokemon encounter. ]

Once everyone was rested and ready, Luka smiled at the little boy, glad to be following after his lead on the way to the fields. The barely-teenaged boy seemed to know his way around this place, something Luka was glad to have on hand. That energy and excitement was something that reminded her of Wade, and it must have been a family trait of the Mahogany clan.

"Don't be leavin' me behind, Wayne~" She said to the boy, a chuckle leaving her throat as she got up and ran after him. She hoped the rain didn't get any worse, though she didn't expect it to... not quite yet.

All of her Pokemon were ready and raring to go, and she was eager to try out her new Emolga in a battle... and maybe the Eevee... She wasn't quite sure if the new Pokemon would listen to her yet. And also, she'd yet to name them.

The boy grinned, running and rolling upwards and onwards, with the boy scaling random rocks and slippery mudslopes as the rain continued in it's light downpour-drizzle-pitterpatter manner, the metal roof of Wayne's uncle's cabin probably making the last noise, as they went on.

Roll a D4.
1-3, you are stopped by a Pokemon just as you get half way up the slope to the plains plateau
4 You're able to pass freely.

Luka's heavy-duty hiking boots were serving her very well today. As she and Wayne marched along, they were climbing over hills and rocky slopes. The smaller boy seemed to have no trouble at all climbing, and seemed to actually enjoy the times that he slipped.

"Just mind yourself not to fall off the Plateau. I'm not wanting to explain to ye're Mum and Uncle what happened to ye." She joked with the boy, following after him and pushing towards their destination.

Soon they were at the top of the plateau, and the tall grass about them shifted to and fro. Wayne blinked, not sure what to do yet- but tilted his head to Luka despite his more experience in this area, as if waiting for her to give example as to what to do.

Near them were two chunks of grass separated by a large stone, flattened at it's top, a perfect nesting place for reptilian pokemon, not that there were any around.

Luka looked around, trying to see if she could spot any of the trademark blue and black fur that belonged to the local population of Shinx. She called out her Emolga, looking at the Flying Squirrel Pokemon as it popped out of it's pokeball... It seemed a little out of it at first, then blinked as everything fit together in its head.

"Hello there~ You flew into my head and knocked us both out. I'm Luka~" She introduced herself to her Pokemon. "I need to give you a proper name... I'll think of something. For now, though... can you fly around and see if you can spot any Shinx about? Give us a shout if you see any, please?"

The Pokemon nodded..."Uh.. sure! No problem~" It jumped from Luka's arm and with a bit of an effort, got to flying, using the winds to elevate herself.

"Hmm~ shall we start lookin' then, yeah Wayne?" Luka suggested to the lad who was looking at her.

Wayne nodded, giving a grin and throwing our his Krabby, Breas. Soon the boy's crab began to climb the rock and the boy grinned, "Bang on the rock with your claws, Breas!" It bubbled and uttered a 'krabby krabby' as it climbed.

Roll a d10:

1-5: No Pokemon found this post.
6-9: Ratatta found this post.
10: Shinx found this post.

(You can roll as many times as you want to find out how many times you have to roll to find a Shinx, but any time there are 3 numbers in a row, regardless of the result- you run into a 5d4 pack of Ratatta.)
