A boy and his bug; ... and his Lizard too.

Without hesitation, Wade covered his nose and mouth as he saw the pink powder floating skyward. The boy narrowed his eyes, tilting his head and barely catching Scutlebutt jumping off his shoulder towards Oddish, itself sneezing but sure that it had been attacked 'on purpose'.

With a glare, the bug-poison type began to gyrate, aiming its horn at Oddish and hurling off of Wade to smash into the Oddish's vicinity; a blast of purple energy spraying out of the area as Scuttlebutt used confusion.

"Oooood... diiiish~" The little Grass-type Pokemon wailed lightly as it was hit by the Psychic attack. It looked a little dizzy, but quickly shook the feeling off... it wasn't confused.

It didn't look too happy at being attacked. First by a deadly sneeze attack, and now by some overzealous jealous Weedle. With a glowing green wave, the Oddish enveloped Scuttlebutt, absorbing some of its health... hardly anything, though. Weedle was both Bug and Poison types, so Oddish's Grass-type move did practically no damage to it. It might have probably only tickled.

Wade blinked as this suddenly erupted into a battle, but didn't allow himself to be worried. No, Scuttlebutt may be slower thanks to the sweet scent and a little dinged thanks to that leech life- but he knew typings and wasn't worried, this would've been easy if Scuttlebutt just knew some bug type moves, but as he didn't, Wade nodded all the more.

"That's right, Scuttlebutt! Hit him with another Confusion!"

Why not get your opponent's attack to work against them? The Weedle rolled into a standing position, it's lowest section on the grass and it's other sections twitching and swerving like a snake before the poison & bug type launched itself once again at the grass and poison type, it's horn glowing purple and soon sending blasts of energy out towards the Oddish.

The Oddish once again stumbled back after the Psychic waves hit it, looking dizzy for a few seconds, and then shaking off the feeling, looking more haggard than before, but still mentally fine.

"Dish! Oddish..." The Grass-type Pokemon's stance looked not quite as energetic as before, once again trying to Absorb some health from the Weedle, but getting nothing but trickles... Things weren't looking too great for it.

ooc

After Weedle's next attack, roll a 1d10. On a result of 1 or 2, the Oddish starts to run.

It wasn't the level of weakness Wade hoped for, that was for sure- but even so the Oddish looked a little hurt so he nodded, tilting his head to Scuttlebutt and pointing at Oddish.

"Hit 'em with a stringshot and confusion!" the boy called out, and immediately Scuttlebutt began his coiling movements, blasting string at the Oddish from it's mouth as purple energy coiled around its horn and soon burst from it towards the oddish.

The String Shot sprays of silk caused the Oddish to stumble, falling over and allowing it to be hit by yet another wave of Confusion... this one however, seemed to rattle its mind a little, and the Oddish looked like it didn't quite understand what was going on.

It turned and faced a tree, running towards it and ramming into it, thinking it was an opponent and falling over onto its back, dizzily and wounded. It looked like it didn't have much more fight left in it... so now would be the perfect moment to either capture it, or finish it off and move on. Of course, it might also be funny to just sit and watch, and admire as it makes a fool of itself... Wade's choice, really.

"That's enough, Scuttlebutt.

Wade wasn't a bully, or a braggart- and he'd never consider letting a Pokemon get hurt by him if he didn't plan on catching it. While he wasn't fond of grass types and certainly not the type of person who thought he'd use an oddish- if nothing else the boy could give it to Eradis, his baby sister- as a pet and guardian. So the boy nodded, tensing his lithely muscled form and grabbing a Pokeball, rearing back and chunking it at the Oddish like some might chunk a rock across a river, throwing right at it's head.

Inevitably, Wade found himself bursting into a "YEAAAH!" surprised, utterly surprised- that he had succeeded that easily, his Pokeball sailing skyward and landing, giving the stereotypical wiggle but soon stopping, with the sound of that 'ding ding ding click!' Wade couldn't help but scoop up Scuttlebutt and hug the little bug and poison type, grinning.

"That's it, Scuttlebutt! Our first Pokemon capture!"

The Weedle seemed slightly less excited about it, but didn't squirm out of Wade's grasp even as the boy loosened it. "Weeeddle." it remarked, as if saying 'aaaalllllrrriiiight.'

The Oddish now firmly captured and part of Wade's team, the Mahogany boy could continue his journey, free of odorous irritations to his sinuses...

As Wade was walking down the path, likely searching for more Pokemon or another Trainer to battle... his Pokegear was ringing. It was playing a familiar ringtone that sounded similar to one of Wade's favorite songs, or something funny... Regardless, were Wade to look at the name of who was calling him... he'd recognize it as a certain Aballacher girl who had a fondness for wearing boys' clothes. His long-time partner in crime, Luka, was calling him.

Oh, it was heavy metal- too. Classical heavy metal that made Scuttlebutt wince, as if it was asking for them to get ganked by some Pokemon, but Wade shrugged, and answering the phone without hesitation despite that.

"Hey Luka, what's up?"

"Hey Wade." The female voice on the other end of the line answered as he picked up. "Just letting you know that I beat you to Ashmere Village, so I'm waiting for you to get your butt over here..."

The sound of light talking in the background and a lack of wind and wild sounds indicated she was in a building, the echo of a PA system ringing indicated a Pokemon Center possibly.

"Anyway, just calling you to tell you to hurry up, otherwise I'm gonna go get dinner without you." She threatened her friend, knowing it was still early enough to get there in plenty of time. "Also, met your cousin Wayne on the road today. Nice kid, a lot like you... little small for his age, though. Anyway... don't take too long, I wanna show you what Pokemon I caught on the way here. I think you'll be impressed."

The dark haired young man blinked, shrugging and wishing there was a way to say 'Pokemon' but not mean plural and singular at the same time- as of course he didn't want to lose to her in a number of Pokemon caught contest- and if he was going to be late he had might as well be late with a bang! THe boy nodded, grinning to her, over the Pokegear's video "Okay, sounds cool. I'll try to hurry and we can talk some more then- but for now I'm in the middle of hunting after a Pokemon that I just saw. I'll call you back!" and Luka would get a chance to see Scuttlebutt's quirking head as the bug Pokemon saw his trainer lie, before Wade hung up the phone.

And as he did, he saw a package with potions and berries just sitting on the grass in front of them, a clear plastic bag someone must've dropped when speeding down the bike path.

[ooc; Same roll to run into another Pokemon, or what? ]

Luka looked at her phone when Wade hung up, smiling at the quirky little Weedle he'd had for a fair while. As usual, Wade was both trying to impress, and out-do her.

MEANWHILE, back on Route 1...

Wade was continuing down the road, the sounds of Pokemon all around him, some hiding in the grass or trees, others more out in the open... Many, many Pokemon were thriving on this path... Which would Wade come across next?

Encounter Chance!
