A boy and his bug; ... and his Lizard too.

The Ferroseed was knocked back pretty far from the force of Rufflet's attack, rolling back and bouncing lightly several feet from the little poofy-headed Eaglet Pokemon. It looked a little dizzy, righting itself and then bouncing back up. Its metallic coat was looking pretty scratched up, and it seemed that Rufflet managed to avoid getting scratched by the barbs.

"Harden, once more... you can hold on, Ferroseed." The Intern said to his Pokemon, who clenched and tightened its armor, preparing to withstand another attack from the Rufflet... although, it was looking rather beat up, currently.

"Ferro~" The Ferroseed spun a little, planting itself more firmly in the ground so as not to roll when hit.

Wade was really beginning to like this little flying type, grinning to it and nodding. "Come on, Rufflet! You got him on the ropes! Let's hit 'em with another Peck before he can hurt you anymore!" the boy called out, and the bird nodded, apparently enjoying actually -winning- for once. With a squawk, it charged forward, reaching it's head back and sending another peck Ferroseed's way.

As the Rufflet charged into the Ferroseed, his beak and face was scratched slightly by the rough barbs. Thankfully, it was just a scratch, and not enough to knock the bird out of the battle. The same could not be said for the Ferroseed, however. The Eaglet Pokemon's powerful beak must've hit a weak spot in the metallic armor shell of the Thorn Seed Pokemon, knocking him out and rolling back towards Oliver, who returned his Pokemon.

"Great job, Ferroseed. You did well, he was just stronger than you. I'll make sure you grow stronger." The Trainer said, comforting his Pokemon and grabbing his last Pokeball. He hurled the spherical capsule, releasing the Pokemon inside it onto the battlefield, and watching to see Wade's reaction.

"Corphish, Cor! Phish! The little crustacean Pokemon uttered a small battle cry, its snappy little claws clacking together as it stretched, ready for a battle.

Oliver's Pokemon!

This time, the little Rufflet nearly charged into battle, but with its dings and cuts, Wade shook his head. "That's enough, Rufflet. Return." he said, pulling out it's pokeball and pointing, his Pokemon soon swallowed up into the sphere and the sphere put at his side as Wade reached for the first Pokeball at his belt, grabbing it and tossing it skyward, the beam sending Scuttlebutt flailing out and landing on his head. Soon the young man nodded to his little Weedle and grinned.

"We're not gonna pull any punches here, Scuttlebutt. Hit that Corphish with a Thunderpunch!" Wade said, given the fact he knew -that- Pokemon's type and abilities, given that it was common enough in the wilds around CarrickAodh. Without hesitation, the little hairy bug nodded, hurling itself off of Wade like a diver off a diving board, and spinning it's body around- picking up ambient static electricity and gathering it at its horn as it came closer and closer, rocketing that vicious point towards the water type, static electricity and electric punch gathered around the 'thunderpunch'.

"Corphish, use Bubble on the Weedle. See if you can't make him shock himself~" Oliver asked his Pokemon to fire off a flurry of Bubbles after being struck for the first time by the Weedle's powerful lightning bolt of a Thunderpunch. The little crustacean of a Pokemon righted herself, standing back up and seeing the Weedle back up.

"Corphish!" The Ruffian Pokemon opened its maw, unleashing a flurry of small Bubbles at the Weedle, a few of them hitting, not really seem to do a whole lot of damage from such a weak attack... but the air around them was filled tiny bubbles, which might make it a little difficult to get through without getting hit.

Corphish used Bubble, Corphish is moderately wounded

OOC

Roll 1d2: You roll
1 - Scuttlebutt takes another small amount of damage from residual bubbles.
2 - Scuttlebutt avoids being hit by the Bubbles.

Scuttlebutt was faster than that, obviously- and being raised around a bunch of water pokemon had apparently put the little bug in a similar situation. So much so despite that ingenious move of Oliver's, that tactic being ironclad as it was, Wade didn't even allow himself to grimace.

Scuttlebutt simply hit the deck after being hit with the first bubbles, static electricity still in the air, but not hitting the little bug. Wade nodded, before shouting out his next order, obvious as it was- to Scuttlebutt.

"While you're still in close, hit 'em with another thunder punch!" he bellowed, and the little hairy bug pokemon nodded, scampering up onto its pods and shaking it's head, rollig a bit to pick up static electricity again before jabbing forward with it's horn at the crawdad like Pokemon.

Scuttlebutt used ThunderPunch!

This last battle went rather quickly, the second Thunderpunch knocking the Corphish down and out of the battle, striking a weak spot in the shell. Oliver grimaced as his Pokemon was hit by the Electrical attack, grabbing the Pokeball and calling his Ruffian Pokemon back to its capsule, looking across at Wade and smiling.

"You did well, Wade. You know your Pokemon pretty well, and I'll be glad to report back to your grandfather on this." Oliver said with a smile, putting his coat back on and fixing it. He corrected his glasses' position on his face, and adjusted his belt once all the Pokeballs were back on. You can go ahead and heal your Pokemon back to full health now... I enjoyed battling with you. Good luck, though I'm sure you'll be a fantastic Trainer in no time. Just like your father."

Oliver turned the Portable Restoration Device back on, smiling and offering his hand to Wade to shake. Once Wade was done, he would return back to the Lab, leaving Wade to head to Ashmere.

Wade's hands would operate the device with knowledge that might seem strange without knowledge of his heritage, having returned Scuttlebutt to his Pokeball before healing his Pokemon. At Oliver's compliment, Wade grinned, nodding gently as he finished up using the device.

"Thanks, and as my dad and grandfather both have said before... being a Pokemon trainer is 60% knowing your Pokemon and your opponents, that's the chief responsibility of a trainer that wants to succeed."

And as the Pokemon finished, he deposited each of his Pokemon back upon his belt, throwing Oliver a two finger salute from his temple as he began to stride down the path. "Nice battling with you, too. Was a challenge!"

And then he burst into a run out of Route 1.

And run Wade did... he ran straight down the trail towards Ashmere, neither man nor Pokemon able to slow this Mahogany down. His boots pounded against the earthen trail, leaving light footprints in the wetter spots on the ground.

Astonishingly or not, Wade ran the entire rest of the way to Ashmere, a little more than a half-mile. As he slowed his pace, the main gate of the town stood, a little welcoming to the passers-through to feel at home in the village, and a plaque that had a bit of information such as the Village's name and population.

Wade was finally in Ashmere Village, and he was one step closer to... well, to getting dinner. Being a Pokemon Master could wait.

If you've got anything more to post, go ahead. Otherwise, Ashmere's ready and waiting for you.
