The grass rustled a bit more, but this Pokemon didn't show it's face, as if hunting, listening for Aewen and Koraline, slowly trudging to and fro in the grass and keeping the tall parts hiding it as it spied silently, angrily on them.

"Yeah, I think a nap sounds good." Kori grinned. "We have time. We can take all of the time in the world." She yawned again and picked Aewen up. She stopped when she heard a rustling in the grass.

Koraline looked up from grinning down at her Eevee. She tilted her head as she listened to the sounds.

"What do you suppose that is?" She whispered to Aewen, who flickered her ears to indicate she heard it too. Kori looked up and around, her eyes thoughtful.

The Poochyena was getting impatient, it had wanted to jar the Eevee and her trainer from their slumber but that wasn't working so it shouted out "Poooooooccccchyeeeeeena!" and pounced out of the grass, glaring at the normal type and her trainer, and began to howl, letting out something far more fearsome than an 'awowawwooooo' as one might've expected it to do.

Immediately, a faint glow surrounded it as the Pokemon's attack rose.

Poochyena used Howl!

"Oh, a Poochyena!" Kori's eyes were wide as she stared at the pokemon who'd jumped out at them. She stared at the growling pokemon and slid her fingers through Aewen's fur. Aewen was tired, but...she'd gotten some rest as they'd stopped to eat.

"What do you think, Aewen?"

"Eevee!"

Kori nodded firmly and she smiled. "Tackle it!" Aewen's ears flickered and she launched out of her trainer's arms with so much force it made Koraline take a step back. Aewen's ears pinned against her head and her tail was rigid out behind her as she stretched out, aiming to make the most impact that she could.

The Eevee smashed into the Poochyena with a resounding 'crash!' but it should not have been a surprise, given the fact that the dark type hadn't moved, standing there with it's fur bristling up as it was smashed into and rolled away a bit.

"Pooochyeeena!" it yowled, scrambling up and taking a swipe at the dirt, sending a SANDATTACK the Eevee's way.

"Eevee!" Aewen tucked her ears back and flinched away from the sand, digging at her eyes. She flicked her fluffy tail and kept digging at her eyes, growling in pain. "Vee! Eevee!"

"Aewen, use tail whip!" Kori called to her pokemon. The Eevee looked towards her voice and then flicked her tail and her ears. She turned and leapt at the Poochyena, waiting as long as she could before she spun to whip it with her tail. She couldn't see well, so she used her other senses to try to tell her where the Poochyena was.

The tail whip hit, making the Poochyena flinch back a bit, but it didn't make it do more than that- the dark type immediately rearing back, running backwards, turning and then charging forward with a body blow- a tackle. It lowered its head as it did, growling all the while and keeping its fur bristled, things which would theoretically work well with the sand-attack.

"Vee! Eevee!" Aewen cried out as she was tackled, rolling with the blow. She came back to her feet and her ears laid back, hunched a little. She limped a couple of steps before putting her foot down resolutely. "Eevee!"

"No! Oh no! Aewen, are you okay?" When she watched her pokemon straighten in affirmation, Kori nodded sharply. "Good! Poochyena's strong!" They would need strategy. They would need strong strategy. The tail whip had made it flinch, though, so they needed to take advantage.

"Tackle it while it's off-balance!" Aewen didn't even bother wasting energy on speech as she ran for the Poochyena. She got up her speed and then leapt, gaining as much momentum as she possibly could before she flung herself at the canine pokemon. Her tail streamed out behind her almost like a rudder, guiding her flight through the air as she flattened her ears and made herself as aerodynamic as possible. She was going to take that dog out!

The body blow from the Eevee sent a resounding 'smack' through the air, the Poochyena inevitably being sent rolling backwards with a growl, coming back up and shaking its head. With a tense of it's back muscles and leg muscles, it began a run around the Eevee, continuing until it had nearly flanked her, and then charging in for a bite.

Poochyena used bite!

"Eeveeeeeeee!" When the Poochyena's jaws clamped down on her, Aewen cried out. Koraline sucked in a sharp gasp. Aewen stumbled away from the Poochyena and left her ears pinned back, gasping softly for breath. Koraline clenched her small hands into fists as she stared at the Poochyena and her beloved Eevee.

Had they worn the Poochyena down enough? Did she dare try...but what other options did she have? She had to do something. Poochyena was fresh and rested and even though she'd eaten, Aewen was still tired from two previous battles. Pidove hadn't even had anything to eat...there was no way it was ready to battle again yet.

"Aewen, try using Yawn!"

Aewen flickered her ears back towards her trainer, and then she opened her mouth and yawned wide, showing her teeth and the back of her throat to the Poochyena. She tucked her tail around one back leg sleepily and laid her ears back as she gave a second, even larger yawn. Her mouth smacked several times sleepily and she gave a sleepy yawn-sound with it.

The little grey, black and yellow pup seemed satisfied with the pain it had caused the Eevee, growling a triumpant "Pooochyeeena!" before beginning to circle again, apparently adrenalin or simple bad luck had made the move miss! On the plus side though, the movements of the Poochyena revealed a nearby potion- and that should've and could've given the lass a hint at one tactic she could use if she wanted a real chance of capturing this Poochyena.

Potions.

Aewen was getting tired. The Poochyena didn't fall asleep. Kori was at the end of her rope. ...And then she saw the potion. Wait a second...that's it!

"Aewen, tackle it!" She cried, grabbing the Pidove's pokeball off of her belt and snatching a potion out of her pack. She held out the pokeball and pushed the button to release Pidove, hurrying to her bird and kneeling beside it. As she did, she looked it over quickly to determine how strong it was and whether it was a male or female. It wouldn't do not to know these things about her own Pokemon, after all.

"I know you're hurt, but this will help. Aewen needs your help." She whispered to the Pokemon.

Aewen, once again, didn't bother with calling out. She took several running steps and flattened her ears back, stretching out her legs. It hurt to do, but she made herself as aerodynamic as she could. The tired Eevee was putting in a valiant effort for her trainer.

The Poochyena took the hit and staggered a little bit, but growled, shaking it's head as if saying "Is that all you got?" before standing back up and baring it's fangs, tensing it's muscles and beginning to circle Aewen once again. This might be a good time to try using a potion -on Aewen herself-, all things considered, but in the end it would be up to Kori to decide that as the Poochyena circled, not yet attacking.
