A.J. Cleary appears on stage as Nonpoint's "Bullet With a Name" begins. He scans the crowd briefly, then walks deliberately toward the ring. Reaching ringside he climbs the steps quickly, walks down the apron, one hand on the top rope. He gets to the middle of the apron and wipes his feet, the enters between the second and top rope. He walks to the center of the ring and looks out over the crowd with a look of determination. He raises one fist in the air, then retreats to his corner to await the start of the match. Machine Head's "Pearls Before the Swine" comes over the speakers, and Christian Cain emerges. He heads straight to the ring and steps in, psyching himself up. Singles Match Christian Cain vs A.J. Cleary Cleary held out his fists like a boxer waiting to touch gloves, and Cain responded with a perfunctory bump. A.J. swung a right as soon as the bell rang, Which Christian ducked out of range of. The two men danced around, testing each other with strikes. Cain had the reach, but Cleary had the speed, and each was proving a tough nut for the other to crack. :Mick Crellin: Two brawlers here. I think we can expect a very physical match. To prove Crell's point, Cain found an opening and started raining punches on Cleary, who backed up into the ropes. The referee forced the break and as soon as they were apart, Cleary came back with some strong body blows. Christian retaliated by forcing a clinch, and managed to trip A.J. into an STO. He quickly floated across for a pin, netting a one point five. Cain pulled Cleary back to his feet in a headlock. Forearm to the back before A.J. could push free. A.J. found a dropkick to the knees, dropping Christian to his face. Christian got back to one knee and A.J. hit a stiff European uppercut. Kick to the head flattened Cain, then A.J. went up top. Diving elbow! NO! Cain rose and caught Cleary, and span him into a backbreaker. Big lariat style clubbing forearm while Cleary was still bent across Cain's back, then Christian hoisted him over his shoulders. A.J. started trying to punch Christian's head to break this up, so Christian ran and powerslammed him into the turnbuckle. Threw him to the middle of the ring, stomp, cover. Kickout, but it was close. Christian brought A.J. back up and whipped him into the ropes. On the rebound he nailed a discus elbow! Another pin attempt, this time netting a two-and-nine-tenths. Cain was starting to look frustrated. He waited for A.J. to get to one knee, then went for a big boot to the face, but A.J. collapsed out of the way and rolled Christian up! Kickout dead on the two. They sprang up and turned to face each other. Christian swung a punch but A.J. blocked it and answered with a left jab. Right cross, left hook, right uppercut to complete the Mic Flurry! With Christian dazed, A.J. found the toe kick to double him over, and then the DDT! That was just enough for the three count. We go backstage to Zoe Starr and Tony Harrison. :Zoe Starr: Ladies and gentlemen, in just a few minutes we'll be seeing Tony Harrison in action. Tony's been on a roll since he joined Reborn, with easy victories over his opponents so far. Tony, this week you face the unknown Jared Buxton. What are your thoughts on that? :Tony Harrison: Tut tut tut. Can you believe this Jared Buxton character? Silent ever since his name was announced for this show, and then today, he didn't even come to prostrate himself at my feet. Doesn't he understand locker room etiquette!? Younger wrestlers should be collapsing over each other to glean my wisdom, but I'm shown no respect. Absolutely no respect at all! :Zoe Starr: So- :Tony Harrison: Well he'll pay for it! Oh, but he'll pay. Kai O'Hara fell to my mastery of puroresu, and Tyrone Rexx to my frightening command of lucha libre. This week, Jared Buxton will suffer a similar crunching when I beat some respect into him via the noble art of Albanian ankle-wrestling. :Zoe Starr:"Albanian ankle-wrestling?" What's- :Tony Harrison: Technically, Albanian ankle-wrestling requires both parties to be engaging in it, but I can make it work without Jared Buxton's co-operation - I'm sure he's barely housetrained, nevermind practiced in such a noble art as this - because I'm just that FUCKING AMAZING. Zoe tries to talk again, but once more Tony ignores her. :Tony Harrison: Everyone, take notes on this lesson in crunch. There may be a test. And he stalks offscreen. We cut to ringside, where a young man is already in the ring - average height, wiry build, shaggy mop of hair. This must be Jared Buxton. He's pacing around agitatedly. "Kung Fu" by Ash begins to blaze over the speakers. Tony Harrison leaps onstage, wearing a ninja headband and baggy trousers. He sprints down to the ring in his bare feet and slides in, and gives his opponent the Neo "come and get it" gesture. :Stevie Howard: Well, he's still an asshole, but you have to admit Tony Harrison has looked impressive since he came back to wrestling. I wouldn't like to be this kid right now. Singles Match Tony Harrison vs Jared Buxton Jared flew at Tony as soon as the bell rang, only to be levelled by a big boot, making the youngster flop flat on his back. :Stevie Howard: Hah! And that's it. Harrison turned to mug to the crowd cockily - and didn't see his opponent kip up and leap onto Tony's back! Jared hooked his feet around Tony's midriff and clenched in a tight sleeper. Tony stumbled around, waving his arms back and trying to get the kid off. Finally he found the grip and swung Buxton overhead, slamming him down hard. He came in for a stomp, but Jared swarmed Tony's feet in a frenzy, trying to yank the big man down. Harrison leaned in to strike him, and Buxton jabbed him with a couple of stiff fingers to the eye.Jared ignored the ref's warning and as Tony raised his hands to his face, Jared unleashed a series of closed fist body blows to the ribs and kidneys. A knee to the gut followed, and then a palm strike to the chin as Harrison doubled over. Tony grunted, and Jared fishooked his jaw. :Stevie Howard: More blatant cheating. :Mick Crellin: I don't think he cares. He knows the ref can see him! Indeed, the ref forcibly pulled Buxton away, and Jared immediately flattened him with a right cross. He stomped the back of Tony's foot, dropping the veteran, and pulled his leg into the air. :Mick Crellin: Ankle lock attempt, but he just knocked out the referee! :Stevie Howard: Uh, Crell, I don't think he's going for an ankle lock... Jared had Tony's bare foot up in the ankle lock position but instead of torquing it he bared his teeth, looked around at the audience with a bestial grimace, and sank his incisors into his opponent's skin. :Mick Crellin: He's biting him! Jared Buxton is biting Tony Harrison right on the achilles tendon! Harrison thrashed and screamed, and security guards piled into the ring and hauled his young opponent away. Jared's face was visible for a moment before falling under the scrum - his eyes filled with pure malice, and his mouth filled with Tony Harrison's blood. The referee, having come to, called for the bell to disqualify Jared Buxton. Medics filed in to help Tony Harrison backstage while security manhandled Jared away from ringside. :Mick Crellin: Wow. That was... kinda sickening. :Stevie Howard: Well, Tony did promise us a mauling. It just didn't quite turn out the way he wanted. We're in the women's locker room! Sorry to disappoint you, Stevie, but there are only two women in it and they're both fully dressed - one in smart-casual street clothes, the other in her ring attire. :Becky Benitez: Ladies and gentlemen, I'm here with Amy Ngoudje, who last time beat A.J. Cleary to become number one contender to the Reborn Championship. :Amy Ngoudje: Hi everyone! It's great to be back in Pennsylvania. Hey, cheap pops work. :Becky Benitez: Now, it's fair to say that on that show, you and A.J. didn't exactly have a traditional wrestling match. :Amy Ngoudje: I dunno. That was some proper chain wrestling we did - once upon a time, that would have been considered the most traditional wrestling match on the show. :Becky Benitez: Touche. Well, regardless of how the match went down, you're the number one contender. When Erin Daniels comes back from her injury, you and she will be meeting with the title on the line. Amy nods. :Amy Ngoudje: Back from injury being operative - I don't want to face her until she's sure she's one hundred per cent ready to compete again. Win or lose, I- ...but Amy's sentence is cut off by the sound of the door opening. In walks a familiar face. Erin steps into view a couple seconds after the sound of the door closing in casual street clothes as well. She gives Amy and Becky a look before setting down the black bag she was carrying with likely her ring gear and title belt. She was obviously still hurt, favoring her left arm still, and not booked but had it ready just in just in case. :Erin Daniels: Amy... Becky... :Amy Ngoudje: Hi, Erin. Becky's expression says it all: Awkward! :Becky Benitez: Well, uh... we were actually just talking about you, Erin, or specifically, about the fact that you and Amy have a match coming up at some point in the next few shows. Still in a good deal of pain, Erin bites her bottom lip some as she turns her attention to the two. :Erin Daniels: That's true. And a few people know how pissed I was about not getting cleared medically so this could happen here and tonight, the good news is I got the OK to get back in the ring now. So whether it's Malibu or whenever, this match'll happen. Amy frowns a little in worried concern. :Amy Ngoudje: Well take your time, sweetie. Make sure you're totally healed up. I want us to put on the best match this company's seen. The opening riff of 'White Knuckles' by Alter Bridge blasts through the PA system as a lone figure steps out onto the entrance ramp wearing a hoodie. A green strobe light begins to flash rapidly as the figure remains still with his hands in his pockets, staring out into the crowd. Are you still lost tonight? Living but dead inside This is a proclamation This is a call to rise! The man starts to walk down the ramp ever so slowly, tilting his head from side to side with each step and observing the hostile crowd before him. We are the disillusioned... We've been left wanting more... Before every aspiration hits the floor... The man throws his hood down to reveal a full head of long, brown hair. Hold on for your life! All we feel is so far from alive! Declan walks briskly to the ring, ignoring the negative reaction he is receiving, and enters via the steel steps. He immediately walks to a turnbuckle and throws both hands up into the air with closed fists. The damned are done believing The cursed can dream no more So hold on for your life Because only the strong survive! Declan jumps down, looks up at the entrance ramp and eagerly awaits the arrival of his opponent. The opening to Sixx:A.M.'s "This is Gonna Hurt" builds up to blare over the arena sound system, the house lights dimming to a near darkness with strobe lights focused on the entrance flickering in time with the music. As the song kicks in to the main guitar riff, Kai O'Hara makes his way out onto the staging area and glances around at the fans either side of him. Feels like your life is over Feels like all hope is gone You kiss it all away Maybe, maybe He bounces on his toes a couple of times, psyching himself up for the match ahead of him and then starts his walk down the ramp toward the ring. This is a second coming This is a call to arms Your finest hour won't be Wasted, wasted With a smile on his face, he reaches out and tags the hands of any fans showing him support along the edges of the ramp. Hey, hey Hell is what you make, make Rise against your fate, fate Nothing's gonna keep you down Even if it's killing you Because you know the truth Stopping in front of the ring, he looks up at the eight-sided structure and visibly takes a deep breath in before blowing it back out and sliding underneath the bottom rope. Listen up, listen up There's a devil in the church Got a bullet in the chamber and This is gonna hurt Let it out, let it out You can scream and you can shout Keep your secrets in the shadows and You'll be sorry Again, he bounces on his toes, twisting his hips in a warm-up and then stops and raises his arms into the air, met with a cheer from the crowd. Everybody's getting numb Everybody's on the run Listen up, listen up There's a devil in the church Got a bullet in the chamber and This is gonna hurt He crouches slightly with his hands on his knees, waiting for the start of the match as his music fades out. Singles Match Declan Hunter vs Kai O'Hara It didn't take long for the action to get underway with Kai immediately rushing toward Hunter and taking him down with a clothesline in an unusual display of early aggression. Hunter was immediately back on his feet only to be taken down again in the same fashion. When the younger athlete attempted a third clothesline, however, Hunter saw it coming and ducked, only to drill Kai with a discus clothesline as he turned around. He went for the early cover but Kai shot a shoulder up right after the count of two. Hunter brought Kai back to his feet and the two traded blows in the center of the ring, the larger Hunter getting the advantage after a few moments and backing Kai up into a corner. Kai fought his way out with some hard knee and elbow strikes before taking Hunter down with a double-knee sternum breaker. He covered, but only got a two count. The action continued to alternate in favour of both of the competitors, with the crowd eating it up completely. Kai almost got the win after a shining wizard knocked Declan for six, but the more experienced warrior was able to kick out in time. Hunter almost picked up the three count himself following a dragon suplex, but O'Hara wasn't ready to stay down just yet. After a lungblower in the middle of the ring, Kai attempted to hit a lionsault to try and put Hunter away but the other man raised his knees, connecting with the rookie's midsection. Hunter rolled him up but O'Hara again managed to force his way out before the referee's hand could hit the mat for a third time. Hunter hit his trademark high knee after throwing Kai into the ropes, but still was unable to keep the young man down for the three long seconds. The finish came with O'Hara rolling away from a diving elbow drop from Hunter and managing to lock him up in a gogoplata when he attempted to move in again. With nowhere to go, Declan had no option but to tap. The camera cuts to the back where Kameron Chase is warming up in a quiet corridor, preparing for his no disqualification match against Troy Gafgen later tonight. He's interrupted by his younger brother, Cole, carefully stepping behind him and tapping him on the shoulder. :Cole McGrath: Kam...? Kameron turns, giving a smile to his little brother. :Kameron Chase: Hey, what's up? :Cole McGrath: Um, we just got a call... Apparently Troy isn't gonna be here tonight... Kameron arches a brow, the smile on his face fading quickly. :Kameron Chase: What? :Cole McGrath: Yeah, apparently he has flu... So... he's not gonna be here. There's gonna be no match tonight. The camera picks up the sound of the crowd in the main arena booing as loud as ever at the revelation and Kameron shakes his head. :Kameron Chase: Son of a BITCH! Taking his frustration out on the closest thing, Kameron drives his fist into the wall before the camera cuts back to ringside. :Mick Crellin: For those who aren't aware, Kameron Chase's fiancée and Reborn Champion, Erin Daniels, was injured in a hit and run accident at the last Revival show in California. Chase is convinced that Troy Gafgen was behind the attack, and was set to face him tonight in a No DQ match. Apparently now that's not gonna happen... :Stevie Howard: Hey, the flu is nasty, man... I wouldn't wanna fight if I was sick, either! I can promise you that if you're not prepared to have a happening... MOVE BACK! A cheer goes up as The Avalanches' "With My Baby" hits the speakers and Amy Ngoudje bursts through the curtain. She crosses back and forth as she makes her way to the ring, interacting with the fans, high-fiving and shaking hands. Amy climbs onto the apron and steps through the ropes, then hops up each corner in turn, taking a moment to pose and lead the fans in a pop. Once the circuit is done, she hunkers into her corner, psyching up for the coming match. Tika tika tika tika tika tika tika tika tika tika tika tika tika tika tika tika DUN! DUN DUN DUN! DUN DUN DUN! DUN DUN DUNNNNNNN! DUN! DUN DUN DUN! DUN DUN DUN! DUN DUN DUNNNNNNN! DUN! DUN DUN DUN! DUN DUN DUN! DUN DUN DUNNNNNNN! A tiger's roar crackles through the speakers, and out comes Tommy 'Tiger' White through the curtain. He spins around quickly, hands in the air, his back to the ring, as the camera zooms in on the large black tiger paw on the back of his white robe. Risin' up, back on the street Did my time, took my chances Went the distance, now I'm back on my feet Just a man and his will to survive White swings around, all smiles, ready to get to work. He makes his way to the ring, singing along to his theme music and slapping hands with fans. He makes his way to the ring and over to the steps. So many times, it happens too fast You change your passion for glory Don't lose your grip on the dreams of the past You must fight just to keep them alive White climbs the steps and walks across the apron, playing to the crowd. He wipes his boots at the corner and steps into the ring and immediately to the middle rope. It's the, eye of the tiger, it's the thrill of the fight Risin' up to the challenge of our rival And the last known survivor stalks his prey in the night And he's watchin' us all with the Eyeeee Of the Tiger! Singles Match Non-Title Tiger Tommy White vs Amy Ngoudje The two competitors shook hands, then went into a lock-up. Ngoudje used her leverage advantage to push White down to one knee, but the Tiger Man twisted round into a side waistlock and from there, transitioned into a German suplex. He held the bridge but only got a 1 count. Unfazed, Tommy floated over Amy and applied a grounded front facelock. She pushed up to one knee, and lifted Tiger up in the air. But he sandbagged back down and swung her round looking for whatever submission he could find. Amy pushed out of his grasp, breaking the fighters apart. Ngoudje ran back in looking for a lariat, but White caught her arm and spun her into an arm wringer. She landed in a sitting position and he was straight on her with a deadlift belly-to-back suplex, which netted a two count. Again, however, he couldn't find the submission as she got a foot on the bottom rope. They broke off, then locked up again. This time Tiger went for a suplex, but Amy blocked it and went for one of her own, which he blocked in turn. They struggled back and forth in this manner until Ngoudje found the opening to twist round behind White in a hammerlock. Tommy started to roll through it, so Amy cut him off with an uranage backbreaker which she followed with an elbow drop and an unsuccessful cover attempt. :Mick Crellin: Neither competitor able to take that definitive advantage yet. This is hair close. They continued trading holds and locks, with Tiger using his superior technical skills to keep control, but Ngoudje always able to use her leverage to escape any serious damage. Finally Tiger managed to find the double underhook and lifted Amy up for the Tiger Bomb, but she kicked and sandbagged back to her feet and took the Minnesota TIger Man down with a back body drop. She went for the spinning toehold and then hauled him back up. She whipped him into the ropes and caught him on rebound, snapping him to the ground with a Reverted DDT! She rolled onto the apron, grabbed the top rope with both hands, and tensed. :Stevie Howard: Looks like she's going for that springboard knee drop of hers to end this! But as Amy left her feet, someone standing behind her at ringside grabbed them and pulled her off the ropes, causing her to slam down on her front! He started laying boots in to her midsection. :Stevie Howard: JARED BUXTON! :Mick Crellin: He's already potentially injured one Reborn start here tonight! What the hell is this guy's problem? The referee called for the bell, awarding Amy Ngoudje the win by disqualification, despite Tommy White's protests that this had nothing to do with him. The referee simply told him that rules are rules. Tiger shook his head and turned towards Jared, breaking into a jog - but the young newcomer slid into the ring and leaped up straight into a sprint, spearing Tommy off his feet. He kicked Tommy in the head before once again being buried under a mound of security guards. :Stevie Howard: I think it's safe to say that this Jared Buxton goes Does Not Give a Fuck. :Mick Crellin: I have no idea what's wrong with him, but not content with ending his own match by disqualification tonight, he's done the same to what was shaping up to be a thrilling encounter between Tiger White and Amy Ngoudje! A bunch of security guards sat on top of Jared, pinning him down, as the screen faded out and the closing credits aired. |
