William couldn't hold back a smile as Keira walked up - something he would have to work on if their ruse was to last any amount of time - and gave a small wave and hello. He didn't scoop her into his arms or start snogging her for two reasons, 1, they WERE in plain sight on the grounds, and 2, Corbly was her little brother, so it was her news to tell, not that he thought they should be all lovey around a little kid anyway.

"There you go, Corbly! Why don't you tell your stunning sister what you've been dying to tell her?" He asked with a small laugh.

Keira couldn't help but to smile back at William, her dull eyes seemed to glow a bit. She was having a very difficult time trying to conceal how glad and relieved she was to see him.
She hated having to stand her distance and hold back her emotions, when she had missed him so much. How much more of this could she do, and would she be able to? It would be ten times worse when they were around other students like the Gryffindors, then she wouldn’t be allowed to smile or show any emotion at all, or they would surely see through her. Even if they didn’t right away, she could guarantee that it would strike them as odd... it would if it had been her housemates who were watching, and she didn't want that attention. The only time they were safe was when they were alone, but that was difficult to do at Hogwarts, especially with so many nosy classmates around.

And when she wasn't with him, all she had thought about was wishing that she were... that she would be able to see him again. The thought of having to continuously avoid him made her heart sink. How were they going to work this out?

"KEIRA!" A voice suddenly brought her out of her thoughts.

"Corbly…?" Keira blinked in sudden surprise as the boy had spun around. "What are you-"'
Oh Merlin, she had forgotten that he was coming to Hogwarts…! How could she have forgotten? She had been preparing for it weeks before, but then everything had happened… She felt a surge of guilt run through her, making her feel even more terrible inside. She had probably missed his sorting hat ceremony and everything!

"When did you get here?" She asked him, his enthusiasm caused her to smile slightly. It was great to see her younger brother again; she hadn't returned home for weeks, and didn't plan to after everything that had happened with her father.
At least Corbly was in school now, she knew how much he had been looking forward to it, and it seemed to show in his shining eyes.

"There you go, Corbly! Why don't you tell your stunning sister what you've been dying to tell her?" William had asked him with a small laugh.

She gave William a warm smile and glanced back at her brother, who seemed to be bursting with uncontained excitement.

"Corbly…? What are you- When did you get here?"

"Just yesterday! I was going to tell you, but I wanted it to be a surprise," Corbly said with a grin. And he was right, she had looked surprised! He was glad William had found her for him, otherwise he wouldn't have known where to look to find her. He still needed to get used to wandering around Hogwarts.

"There you go, Corbly! Why don't you tell your stunning sister what you've been dying to tell her?"

Of course he was dying to tell her, he had been trying to find her all day, and all of yesterday! If he waited any longer to tell her the news, he might explode! "I got sorted into my house! Guess which one it is?"
"-Ravenclaw!" He burst excitedly, without even letting her answer.
"And, William is helping me learn new spells; they're really cool!" The boy went on, "I almost got it right! And then I'm going to show you and…" he chattered on enthusiastically .

"Just yesterday! I was going to tell you, but I wanted it to be a surprise,"

Yesterday... so it wasn't too long ago. She wished she had known earlier so that she could've been ready; she would have waited for him when he got off of the train.
"Well I am surprised!" She smiled at him, "So what have you been up to since you've arrived here?"

"I got sorted into my house! Guess which one it is?"

She opened her mouth to begin to answer, but he excitedly answered for her.

"-Ravenclaw!"

…Ravenclaw? She blinked in surprise, having expected him to say Slytherin.

So he was in Ravenclaw, just like William? Of course she couldn't be upset about that, and she could see the happiness lighting up her brother's face. "That's wonderful!" She smiled.

...But suddenly her smile vanished and was replaced with sheer dread as she realized something. Corbly was a Ravenclaw, not a Slytherin…

Her father…!

Her father was going to be infuriated; everyone in their family was a Slytherin, the Nightfalls were Slytherin! She had a feeling that he didn't know… because if he had…

The incidents in the Shrieking Shack suddenly played back in her mind, every single detail, only now her eleven year old brother was thrown into the mix. He could be torn apart, yelled at, ridiculed… and then left alone like their father had done her.

She looked down at Corbly's beaming face and suddenly felt sick to her stomach with panic and dread. It couldn't happen to him too, it couldn't happen to Corbly! He was so much younger and carefree; he still didn't seem to realize how angry their father could get, and why… she didn't know what would happen if he went through the same thing she did.
He wouldn't be that happy kid anymore…

"...And, William is helping me learn new spells; they're really cool! I almost got it right! And then I'm going to show you and…" the young boy chattered enthusiastically, his eyes shining.

Keira looked as if she were going to cry. This was too much! First her and William, then her father, and now her younger brother… He was about to face a terrible situation, but how was she going to help him?

As much as the thought of her father tore her up inside, she couldn't just let Corbly land obliviously into his wrath! Why did her father have to tear everything apart,… everything…?! She knew he wasn't going to let this one go. This wasn't going to end well...

She glanced up at William, her eyes revealing her fear, panic, and pain.

William saw the blood drain from Keira's face not long after Corbly had said that he was sorted into Ravenclaw. He didn't know why that was so bad, after all, that is where William was, surely that would give him a better chance to get to know more of her family, wouldn't it? Suddenly realizations struck him, if he were in an anime movie, he would fall over with x'ed out eyes! He was so stupid! Corbly's father expected him to be in Slytherin! If he was ready to disown Keira over dating a non-Slytherin, how much more angry would he be if his only son wasn't in his house?!?

Wiliam didn't care, he saw the hurt on her face. If someone heckled her and they weren't his friend, he'd hex them! He slowly walked over to her and put his arm around her shoulder, "It's okay..." he whispered, "It'll all be okay..."

He could see now the extent of the damage her father had done, and her obvious anticipation of the damage to come. He wondered, did Corbly even know? He hadn't seemed worried by his sorting, in fact he seemed happy about it, joyful even, "Does he understand?" He whispered, quietly so only she could hear, "Does he know your fa- Malicius' true nature?"

His one arm was around her in a side hug, both protectively and reassuringly, he wasn't going to let him hurt her anymore, and if he could help it, he'd protect Corbly too. He didn't deserve to be the recipient of his father's wrath for where the sorting hat decided to place him, he had absolutely no control over that!

Keira was obviously taking things harder than they'd both thought, her eyes didn't hold their normal life and they no longer sparkled like before... "I'm going to kill him..." he muttered, thinking out loud.

William had put an arm around her shoulder,"It's okay…" he whispered, "It'll all be okay…"

"My father's going to destroy him…" Keira said somberly, in a quiet enough tone that Corbly wouldn't be able to hear. Her father might not attack him, but if it was anything like what had happened in the Shrieking Shack, it would devastate the boy all the same. And all because he was sorted in the wrong house...

"Does he understand? Does he know your fa- Malicius' true nature?"

Keira shook her head, "No… he doesn't…he doesn't understand, not completely."
Her brother was aware of certain things that their father didn't approve of, but Corbly had never seemed to understand why and would brush it off. The boy had no idea how badly Malicius could react to an issue like this… He didn't know much about his father's beliefs and how highly he held them.
She desperately feared for Corbly's safety, he didn't know what was going to happen, he had no clue...

"I'm going to kill him…"

"What?!" Keira looked up at him with wide eyes, "You can't kill him!"
Not unless he wanted to land himself in Azkaban for the rest of his life. And that was her father, even though he was a monstrous father. Killing him wasn't going to solve their family issues, it would just make things worse…

Not to mention her father was a ministry worker and trained to fight back! The image of the Shrieking Shack came into her head again, when her father had attacked William and he had been slammed into the wall. She had thought her father had been trying to kill him!

She shuddered, "Please don't say that… and don't try to mess with him!"

She didn't want to lose William. Her father had already attacked him once and nearly killed both of them. And he clearly didn't like William… if William went after him, then he was sure to lash out again, and viciously...

Rage and fury boiled within William - the fact that he was a male teenager bursting with powerful hormones didn't help at all - and he was already making a plan. Malicius Nightfall was going to regret ever hurting Keira... He no longer even cared that the man had attacked him, nearly killed him. He only cared that her father had completely devastated the only girl that he had ever dared love, and he was going to avenge her...

"What?!" Keira looked up at him with wide eyes, "You can't kill him! Please don't say that… don't try to mess with him!"

He saw the worry etched on her face, "Calm down... I didn't mean it literally. I'm not a nit, darling, it is a figure of speech." He only hoped that she didn't see the righteous fire and determination in his eyes, at least... not yet. He needed time. "Don't worry about me." he said as he cradled her chin in one hand, "I can take care of myself. He got the drop on me in the shack, I recognized who he was and I was too shocked to cast my spell correctly... if we ever do fight again, Merlin forbid, I won't go down as easily."

William looked around, seeing no one and noticing that Corbly was turned, he stole a quick kiss from his beloved and whispered, "I love you..." He stood up straight and cleared his throat, "I have to go for now, I've got some business in Hogsmead and around. You've made great progress today, Corbly. I'm proud of you. If you want, we can try this again another day soon, but for now, I have to go." He looked to Keira and mouthed a goodbye before turning and walking across the grounds in the opposite direction that Keira had come.

Corbly had been chattering on when he finally noticed his sister's face pale. What's the matter?
"What's wrong?" he asked with concern, "are you feeling sick again?"

He didn't know the real reason why his sister had been absent all day of course, he wasn't aware of the incidents she went through at Hogsmeade. He didn't even realize that they were boyfriend-girlfriend because he had only just seen them together and he had assumed that they were just friends. William had told him they were close friends anyway.

Hmm… he thought for a moment, trying to think of a way to cheer her up. I know! I can master the spell and show it to her like i said, maybe that'll make her happy!
Corbly turned his back to them and was trying to work on the spells again.
"Umbra…Violare." His face scrunched up again in concentration, "Umbra… Violare! Umbra Violare!" Light burst out of his wand and hit the ground, but once again nothing happened… he would need to keep practicing.

"I have to go for now, I've got some business in Hogsmead and around. You've made great progress today, Corbly. I'm proud of you. If you want, we can try this again another day soon, but for now, I have to go."

Corbly finished trying the spell a fourth time. "OK!" he said eagerly, spinning around to face him. "Bye!" he waved.
He would get it right eventually, he just needed to practice more. The thought of successfully casting the spell motivated him to keep going; just think of how awesome it would be when he mastered it! And he would be the only first year to know it too!

"I was trying to show you the spell, but i'm not very good at it yet," The boy said to his sister.
"If you're sick, then maybe we should try to find a doctor, or nurse, or.." Corbly looked up at her with concern.

"Calm down... I didn't mean it literally. I'm not a nit, darling, it is a figure of speech."

She stared up at him, concern still held in her blue eyes. He may have not meant it literally, but she knew how angry her father had made him. She didn't want him to go after him, to start some sort of trouble.

"Don't worry about me." he said as he cradled her chin in one hand, "I can take care of myself. He got the drop on me in the shack, I recognized who he was and I was too shocked to cast my spell correctly... if we ever do fight again, Merlin forbid, I won't go down as easily."

She wasn't so sure, and uncertainty and fear ran through her. She knew William would definitely give it his all if her father did show up suddenly and tried to attack him, but she didn't want that to happen. Her father could injure him, possibly even kill him… there was nothing scarier than seeing her father infuriated. They both had seen that… he hadn't even listened to her or cared what had happened, he had just attacked. She didn't want William to get hurt… she couldn't even stand thinking about it again. She had seen him injured too many times, she had feared that he would never come back...

William looked around, seeing no one and noticing that Corbly was turned, he stole a quick kiss from his beloved and whispered, "I love you…"

She kissed him back. "I love you too.." she said quietly, her eyes threatening to well up with tears.

"I have to go for now, I've got some business in Hogsmead and around. You've made great progress today, Corbly. I'm proud of you. If you want, we can try this again another day soon, but for now, I have to go."

She watched him leave suddenly, walking away in the opposite direction. Where he was going, she didn't quite know. She just hoped he would return safely, and soon.

She stood there, alone with a mixture of rampant thoughts and emotions, all of which seemed to blur together. Worry, panic, grief, despair, hurt… all because of the complications with her father. She felt as if she were preparing to be thrown in a den of raging lions every time she thought about the issue with Corbly. She didn't know what they were going to do… but she knew that they couldn't let Corbly tell him. If Corbly told him, then all of her father's anger would be directed at him…

"What's wrong?" she just now registered that her younger brother had asked with concern, "are you feeling sick again?"

"No… yes...a little," she said, though inside she felt sick to her stomach and a bit light-headed, no doubt caused by the recent turn of events.

"If you're sick, then maybe we should try to find a doctor, or nurse, or.." Corbly looked up at her with concern.

She forced a small smile, "Thank you, but I'll be fine," she lied.
She wasn't going to be fine… not until this issue with her father was one with.

Keira pulled her younger brother towards her and hugged him suddenly, as if he were about to be taken away from her. She wasn't going to let their father hurt him.
