Lots Of Trouble Usually Serious

Construction is underway, with a target completion for this weekend's Southern Expo, which may be a little ambitious but let's see. Here's where we are so far:

The WhiteKnight fuselages are two piece, excluding the glazing, although you have to open out a hole on one of them and install a tiny vent. I've left off the plastic glazing with the intention of using Humbrol Clearfix glazing. The Spaceship fuselage has three pieces, plus the rocket nozzle. The instructions state install 10g weight in each of the WhiteKnight fuselages and 5g in the Spaceship. There is little room forward in the WhiteKnight fuselages and since the Spaceship fuselage sits well forward I elected to fill this with weight, basically steel shot embedded in superglue gel smoothed over with Milliput. I wish I hadn't after, as I had to file everything back flat to from a mating surface and sculpting around the cabin windows was a bind, but it was a case of I've started so I'll finish. The plan is to pose the model on the WhiteKnight undercarriage in pre-flight configuration. I sprayed the WhitKnight insides grey as per the instructions, but because of all the lumpy weight in Spaceship it was sprayed black. The black seam line is a result of this, not any particular problem with the parts, which all fit very well.

There is no interior detail in the three fuselages, which makes little or no difference since very little is visible through the glazing.

The wing is in four pieces, a continuous upper span and three under parts. Fit is good. The engine pods are in five pieces each, two main parts, a fan front, an annular front cowling and a jet nozzle. The fans are a bit fiddly, but everything fits very nicely. I painted the fans and inside the cowling as per the instructions before assembly.

More later!

Cool Boss, saw it at IPMS Bolton but resisted I may have to reconsider.

Why is it I hear the Moody Blues in my head every time I see it?
