The In -box review can be found HERE

Just one sprue of plastic so this should be a very quick build....or will it :D
The parts are NOT numbered....you will need the sprue gate diagram on the instruction sheet handy so you can work out which part is needed.

Lets start at stage one which is the construction of the rudder which is made from 4 parts and is a little bit tricky to build due to the joins being just a butt join with no other location pins / holes .

Stage 2 is where the two halves of the fuselage (sorry forgetting ...its not an aircraft ! :D ) ...the hull (?) are joined. This could again be tricky as there are no locating plugs so a bit of care is needed to make sure everything is lined up correctly.
I have left the rudder off for now as I will no doubt knock it off .

Stage 3 ; Parts 36 and 37 are added to the sides of the main hull. Each part has notches cut into it to fit over the ribs on the hull , unfortunately they are not deep enough.

I had to trim off some of the ribs along the hull to get a decent fit ....a bit of Vallejo Putty was used to clean things up a bit.

Ive also fitted the rear elevators and also placed the sub on its stand to aid work and will be useful when it comes to painting .

In stage 4 of the instructions I was a little bit confused as to why a 0.3mm hole needed to be drilled out :hmm:
As it turns out it is part number 33 that is placed into the hole already on part 5 BUT it needs to be made wider , by 0.3mm , so that part 33 can fit into it .
Dont forget to remove the ejector pin stubs as shown on part 5 .

Fit of the coaming tower is quite good and just required a wipe of filler in the joins.

Stage 5 I added the observation port hole , part 29 and 35 , shame its not a clear part but you could use a scrap piece of clear sprue to make it more realistic.
Ive left the periscope and I think its a snorkel off to avoid damaging them.

Stage 6 is where the Torpedo runners (parts 15 and 16 ) are fitted and once more I needed to remove some of the rib to allow the parts to sit flush.
Apart from that the fit was very precise even though the parts are just butt joined.

Stage 8 , the Torpedoes are made up from 4 parts , two halves and two propellers.
I test fitted them to the runners and they stayed on the sub without any glue being added ....really good fit.
Ill obviously leave them off and paint them up before adding to the sub.

So thats the building virtually done in a couple of hours ......primer next .

An unusual subject and it's looking good Andy. Wasn't aware of the "Seal" until the box review appeared and your build is tempting me to get one.

All painting and a bit of rust here and there added .......I agree with what Steve said in the in box review that a good weathering job will make all the difference to the build.
I had a problem removing the torpedo propellers from the sprue and snapped two of them beyond use so Ive had to make do with one on each torpedo instead of a double screw for each.
That has been the only problem with the kit and that's my own doing !

Time to tackle the huge decal sheet :D
Ten whole minutes later......

Done !

Conclusion

A very simple but excellent kit !
Pardon the pun but Im well out of my depth building submarines but this would be a great first step on the ladder towards Revells bigger more complex sub kits.
Highly recommended to all , beginners and experienced modellers alike.

As an added extra .......an underwater diorama in the making .....
A wooden base , clear sprue to hold the sub and some foam packing.

Posted Image

About 1 hour later ....grass roll painted for the sea bed , lichen as sea weed ....just a mine to add next .
