More progress which is being slowed down by the not so clear instruction sheet.
The problem being that sometimes you have no idea if a part is the right way up /down or back to front at times.
A simple arrow on the part or top/bottom would help a great deal but as it is Im sometimes taking the plunge and crossing my fingers :fp:

Managed to add quite a bit to the shuttle bay change module but the part on the left I have left off purely because Im not even 75% sure I will fit it in the right place !
If I follow the instruction I would be fitting it in the wrong place , of that Im 100% sure !

A lot of head scratching again when it comes to trying to work out what part goes where when reading the instruction sheet , a few times its just been pure guess work !
Not clear enough .....as I mentioned earlier Ive got a copy of the original boxings instructions and they have helped a great deal.
Come on Revell we know you can do better....clear and concise instructions needed please :thumb:

This is one complicated looking build, Andy.
I'd have chucked it long ago. :wall:
Fantastic work. :thumb:

Very impressive stuff Andy, it was never going to be a quick build.

(Looks like a Tornado's about to make a high speed pass)

Construction nearly complete....got railings and stairs to add.
The Shuttle cargo change module has had the left hand side leg/wheel structure added. This had to be pinned as it is just a butt join which will not be able to hold the weight .
A simple 5 minute task of drilling three holes in the leg supports and the placement pegs and adding pins .

BTW...its actually quite a manageable size to display :)

Just a quick update ...
Halfords Grey primer added and now to add lots of railings / spotlights and a few final bits before painting and detailing.

I will be giving a final coat of satin/Matt varnish to this tomorrow.
Ive made a simple base and Im just waiting for a NASA logo sticker to add to it then the build is complete :yipee: :yipee:

The tiny little figure is the Astronaut out of the SCA and Shuttle box....just gives a bit of scale .

Started this in April and its finally all done :yipee: :yipee: :yipee:

Conclusion
This is a hell of a lot of plastic for the money , Ive seen these sell for around the £50 mark but be quick because these are getting scarce .
Ive had a few problems regards the build due to the very vague instruction diagrams. There are parts on the sprues that are not mentioned anywhere in the instructions .....please please Revell take on board comments about the quality of your instructions :thumb:
As for the kit itself this is no way a weekend or even a month of weekends kit....this is serious modelling time .
In the box as it is you will build a basic rendition of the Launch tower , not totally accurate but when finished it is still an impressive model .
You can spend years scratch building extras onto this if you so wished or even spend double the price of the kit on a couple of sets of PE ....these would turn this into a very impressive build , no doubt the centre piece of any collection.
Therefore I would not recommend this kit to the beginner but someone who has a few kits under their belt.
Still got to hand it to Revell for re-issuing this and giving us the opportunity to build what is sadly now a piece of history.

Here she is then.....with a simple wooden base and a NASA sticker logo (the only other things I added to the build where 4 magnets to stop the Shuttle from falling over) and a Revell banner "Build your Dream" which is quite apt as this is a kit I could only of dreamed of building but thanks to Revell for supplying the kit and giving me the chance to build it and also thanks to all who have commented and kept watching along the way :thumb:
