At long last this kit is available. After many months of waiting we now have what I believe to be the best Tornado kit in any scale. It may also be Kit of the Year, it really looks that good.
Everything the Tornado builders have commented on as being wrong with other kits looks to have been solved with this kit. Although, of course, the proof will be in the building. This quick review is mearly to show whats in the box with a much more detailed review later and a build review by Andy Hardwick.

I must thank Alex Hillman for these pictures of his kit which has just been released in Germany as I know you are all very keen to see what you will get in your box.

And so on with the show..........ENJOY. :)

As you can see, and will have read about previously, this kit is just stunning. About the only thing it lacks are weapons for the pylons and seat belts. But these are easily sourced. Also if you wish to do an RAF/RSAF aircraft you will need to source an LRTMS is there is no glazing for the one in this bo
One addition to what is in the kit, if you look at the sprue with the FLIR and LRTMS pods you'll see the wing gloves and it looks as if the Kruger flaps can also be posed open.

Yes there is only one marking option. But really. What a choice. :woo:

So there you have it, so far.

My honest opinion?

Probably the best kit I have ever seen.

God bless Revell.

Many Thanks to Alex Hillman for allowing me to use his pictures prior to getting the kit.

Just noticed the first item for the after-market guys.

No option for having the inflight re-fueling probe open.

Thats it. :weep: I'm only going to get two instead of three.

Dozen that is.

NIT PICK ALERT!!!

Ok. Having stared at pictures of the sprues and having just finished a rather intimate fondle I feel it is my duty to point out a couple of niggles with what is otherwise a work of art.

Point 1.
Correct me if I'm wrong but is the back end of the BOZ not supposed to be angled away to the outside of the aircraft and not downwards as depicted here.

Point 2.
Sink mark on the underside of the Telelens pod.

Point 3.
Part 76 is not used in this kit but is, I believe the earlier fin sensors with the flatter front. No doubt to used on a future release. Unlike the one used in this version it is a single piece as opposed to the two halves for this IDS.
Look at the sink marks front and rear. :(

Point 4.
This is the one I am most surprised at. Look at the sink marks in the main undercarraige legs.

Not you might think I am splitting hairs in pointing out these small faults. But my point is that these 4 small points aside the kit is just superb.

Will it put me off getting any more? Eh........no way. This is still, probably, the best kit I have ever had in my paws and it unlikely to be beaten for quality, detail and price in the one package.

Just my thruppence worth.

One minor note on the instructions.

It is not very clear the the Kruger flaps (part 92) installed in step 41 should only be open when the flaps are fully down for landing. Apart from early GR.1's RAF Tornado do not use this feature as, apparently, it only reduced flight speed by about 1 or 2 knots.
