Front canopy added , fits like a glove
Added the final bits to the nose leg and also the u/c doors .
The drop tanks are made up from 4 parts and needed a bit of sanding to get everything flush and they are massive , I think they are 2000 litres...almost as big as a Tonkas 2250ltrs/Big Jugs .
I found the fit of the clear noses for the MICA IR AAMs a bit fiddly and had to use CA glue for them to join to the plastic body.
Also made up the wheels ....great fit to these and they have a shaped cut out so when you add them the "flat" section is in contact with terra firma :)

As promised...
Primed with Vallejo Grey primer which was sprayed on with my cheapo 0.3mm trigger action airbrush which seems to give better results than my Iwata 0.5mm TR2 !! :hmm:

I think the nose join might need some Delux Putty but other than that Im a happy bunny :D

Gave the Rafale a pre shade with NATO Black paint . Hopefully it will still show through after I've applied the main colour scheme .

Just finished the three point pylons and the six GBU 12 Paveways it will carry.

Sprayed on Xtracrylix FS36375 Light Compass Grey which looks a close match to Marine Rafales.
The instructions state FS 36237 which is the same colour as Luftwaffe Tonkas and has a distinct Blue tint which is nothing like the colour seen on the Rafale.

Detail painting next.

Nice looking plane isn't it. I'm always dubious about photo's of aircraft when determining colour knowing how much lighting conditions and exposure can affect the hue.

As an aside I hope the electronics in French aircraft is better than French cars, have had a few and they've all been pants.

I started applying the number code decal on the wing and it disappeared from view !
Looks like I was wrong to go with a lighter scheme :slap:
Bit the bullet .....airbrush back out and this time Xtracrylix Neutral Grey FS16270 applied.
Looks a lot better :)
