I started the Airfix 1:24 Spitfire Vb in 2011.

I hit a couple of snags in the engine compartment which reduced my enthusiasm for the kit to such an extent I pu it in storage in Sept 2011 at this stage.

Well as I am making a 1:48 Spitfire Vb at the moment, and as I am wanting to be working on a stalled project all this year, I yhought I'd pull it out and see if a bit more experience could address the issue. So after about 4 hours and using Acrylics and Aquacolor rather than enamels I got her to here.

Airfix Spitfire Vb 1:24

Major construction done and paint started to be applied. So far 3 coats of Hu165. I have made a major mistake though, I glued the U/C retaining clip on the wrong way round on one of the wings so now the strut will come out of the sockets if moved. I will have to cement it in the open position after painting is complete.

Watch out for droopy wing. Those old Airfix Spitfires could do with a spar.
