After some deliberation over whether I'd have time to fit it in I'm in with an Airfix Hawk. Never built a Red Arrows aircraft before but what better reason could you have.

I do have two of these so I may build both and have a 'synchro pair'.

I've been doing some work on the Hawks this evening and the cockpit interiors are almost complete.

I just need to add the control columns and pilots. The wings are together too.

A dry fit of the fuselage and wings shows that it goes together very well.

Looking good Tim, that is a nice kit goes together very well, the only problem I found with mine was the fit of the U/C doors when building it wheels up.

I tried one of the u/c doors and they do seem a bit small. I'm sure I'll be able to sort something out though.

In the meantime I've got one of the fuselages closed up.

The pilots should be on board tomorrow.

Nice, they seem to go together well, I do like the shape of the Hawk too.

Thanks for the undercart door heads up.

Cheers

Both the fuselages are closed up and the pilots are on board.

I managed to paint a red arrow on the pilot's helmets using a cocktail stick

At the moment I'm sanding the underside of the fuselage before I cement the wings as there is a slight step I need to get rid of.

After six years I've finally got back to one of the Hawks. The paint (Hu 174) went on a couple of weeks ago.

After final assembly it was decal time followed by a coat of Klear to seal them in.

I'll get back to the second one soon. I still need to make a base/stand for them too.

Yes very nice. It is always great feeling to finish something what was on hold for some reason.
