I've got a Mk II Escort and Trabbie already in the stash. :hmm:

I also like the look of the new 2CV.

I suspect the Rothmans decals that I bought for the Mk II will probably be the decider.

nice kit.......worth a few bob these days since it got discontinued, wish i could get another at a sensible price...........if i was to do another one i would address the wheel arch/tyre problem (tyres are slicks not knobblies and they go too far into the arches, dont fill them out enough)

Got mine for a tenner at a car model show a couple of years ago. I was a bit surprised the vendor wasn't asking for more, so I nabbed it before he changed his mind and before any one else grabbed it!

And also swap the minilites for something more suitable for a rally car of that period ...
We ended up getting some resin wheels and tyres off evilbay if my memory serves me right. Then when we complained they were not right we ended up with white metal and rubber - oooh er. I will be interested to see what you swap yours for!

The OB is threatening to nick the hubcaps off my Lotus 7! :wicked:

Subtle bit of flaunting there. I won't mention the fact that I purloined a Lightning for a tenner a couple of years ago. Oops it slipped out! :slap:

Here are a few shots of what's on the sprues , I think I heard that this is a Hasegawa mould

Nice blue plastic for the body-shell B)

Gorgeous decal sheet ....its the colours and Kouros markings that caught my eye

Posted Image

Now this I found very strange......

Posted Image

You have to use the template to make a part ....its the "bonnet / hood" .... I think .
Anyone reason as to why it could not be provided as a kit part ??

Be kind to me while Im building this as I have not built a car for a good few years....about 20 !!
We will see how things go and if they go well Ill also build a very nice Red car that was very kindly provided by Johni044 :thumb:

Its kind of strange eh BS ?? Its not the most difficult of shapes to mould but there again its quite easy to cut out of plastic card.

A slight start.......

Inside of body shell painted in Revell Aqua No9 Anthracite

Posted Image

The "chassis" ( Help me here !!) also painted with Anthracite and the intake thing ( this is going to be funny  ) painted Silver and added to the chas....Floor !! :grins:

The "chassis" ( Help me here !!)

Chassis is acceptable, although the real deal is actually a monocoque, so the kit is probably not reflecting the car itself. I think car modellers usually refer to the 'floor pan'.

ive always called it a chassis but then i have spent far too long working in the real automotive industry.............i even had to speak 'amurrican'......hood, trunk, liftback, fenders, etc

Keep me on track guys :thumb:

Really enjoying this ....Ive been looking at some more cars to build in the future , I think Im turning to the Dark side

Managed to make the front panel , done in 10 minutes , so no worries now about scratch-building .

Posted Image

Made the 4 wheels and painted Aqua 91 Metallic steel and Hu12 Copper for the spokes.

Posted Image

Exhausts (?) added to the floorplan and a start on the cockpit......sorry drivers err....cockpit ....you would think I was a beginner !! :grins:

Posted Image

Tomorrow I will try to get to Hobbycraft for some Ultramarine Blue ( main body colour ) and Olive Drab ( co-drivers seat ) paint.

Dont tempt me Dirk :P

Well I got my Revell Aqua paints , and a few more ...they were only £1.49 at Hobbycraft

Something Ive always disliked about Revell kits.....the paint mix routine !!
I know that they are only promoting their own range of colours and to be fair in this instance the colour of the car is an unusual shade of blue ...very dark almost Midnight Blue which was achieved by mixing 25% Tar Black with 75% Ultramarine Blue ....think Ive got it about right.
Painted a few parts for the light clusters and the rear wing on the sprue....a second coat needed here I think.

Posted Image

Whilst doing that heard something snap....... :fp: .... why me !! :wall:
That was the support arm for the rear wing....hopefully some aluminium tubing will fix that :)

Posted Image

Painted the body shell......please note that no airbrushes will be harmed during this build....Im enjoying it too much to be fiddling with air pressure and thinning paints :D

Posted Image

Finished off the cockpit by adding some self made painted foil seat belts....decals are provided but look a bit too toy like......dont know if these will be seen but Im pleased how they have turned out :coolio:

More soon !
