 And did you know that the Germans used them to make 'training tanks' in about 1930? They were pushed around and had basically tinplate armour! But they were allowed to do it under the Versailles treaty!
Useless information for today.

Perhaps that would be the boat tail version

Used bleach for the first time to strip the chrome - and was amazed at how quick it was.

Generally started the build - lost one bit to the carpet monster which I had to remake ...
Stopped for the evening to catch up on some Harry Potter :thumb:

Confused.. and intrigued... Why do you strip off the chrome? I know it is a general rule to remove it where parts are glued together, but why remove all of it?

Hope I am not being a thicky

cos the chrome can be too 'chrome' and shiney, or just plain bad in the covering......easier to strip and repaint with something better

No, you're not being a thicky ... it took me a while to get round it myself :o

The chrome is generally so shiny, and so artificial that it doesn't in a lot of people's minds look real. They then paint it with alclad or another metalic shiny paint

I have stripped this lot because I want to (indeed, have done) paint the wheels and the radiator black.

These little cars (getting back to the topic :aah: ) were budget cars, so they wouldn't generally have plated parts, more likely to be gloss black! It was cheaper ...

Ah yes, now I understand. I have just had a closer look at the chrome on my bike, I need to get some :coolio:

Thanks for the info.

The glue must be about the best part of 20 years old, I am trying to remember where I bought it. But it is the one tube of glue that is the best behaved of all the glue we've got! And we've got a few ... I am dreading it running out :aah:

OK so it's been a bit of a pain (lack of location points at times, and the fact that I put the windscreen safe after gluing it together  ) but it actually builds up into quite a pleasing little kit!
