Now that I have recovered from the New Year celebrations  :fp:

I will be doing Robin's Redbird cycle as featured in the fourth film, "Batman and Robin"

Posted Image

The bike is well molded in a deep blue and chrome combination:

I can foresee some seams will require a bit of attention on the figure:

Thankfully the instructions are big enough to read without my glasses :nerd:

I am venturing into the unknown with this as it is my first large scale (1:12) build with a figure involved. Looking forward to it.

Started painting the front forks:

And assembled the front wheel. The brake disk has had some chrome removed using bleach, and then painted silver to add some contrast. (Thanks Harriet for the info)

After much consideration I have decided to go with the chrome look. I am quite sure that Batman would have made sure Robin had clean equipment between his legs at all times. :grins:

Or was that Alfreds job :woo:

The main parts of the bike are now together:

I like the colour of the plastic so have decided to keep it as is, without painting. This means that I have had to do quite a lot of sanding with a 3-way nail buffer (hope swmbo doesn't find out) to get a decent finish. I am happy with the outcome though.

I wouldnt of guessed you left it unpainted.....looks good as it is like you say.

I have started to do a bit of detail painting on the Robins bike, stripped off the chrome from the exhausts ready for painting silver , and started to assemble Boy-Wonder:

I am really enjoying this :D

Added a bit of colour to the bike:

Just need to put the exhausts on and the decals. The handlebars will be fitted once Robin is completed.

Boy wonder has started to pull himself together :D and has got a coat of paint on:

I have also finished building the bike and have applied the decals but am not happy with the way the main one has come out:

Posted Image

I am going to remove it and try to paint one on by freehand. Wish me luck.

Added a bit of colour to Robin, next up the hard part, making the face look convincing: :(

Great work on Robin .
Has the decal silvered ??
Have you tried to prick it with a pin and then smother it in micro Sol decal softener. This quite often works and the silvering disappears.

Not silvering as such, it was as if the glue had frosted over.

I tried hand painting one but it looked awful, so I have gone without.

After a good day at the desk I am calling this one finished:

Robin's face took a lot of research and trial and error but I think it came out OK in the end. Not bad for a first attempt.

I have put some more pics in the Gallery.

This has been a really enjoyable build that went together with hardly any filler, which was lucky as I didn't paint the bike itself, just left it in the colour plastic that it was produced in.

I learnt a few new techniques during this as well; stripping chrome, painting faces, smooth sanding with a nail buffer. That's why I love this hobby, no two builds are ever the same. Roll on the next.
