Well here goes, a little late due to exams and other such real life interruptions. So here it is ...

The Corvette C5-R as raced at Le Mans in 2000 a car that I have always liked.

This is my first car build so will be a steep learning curve and I will be doing this kit out of the box.

The first thing I did was to remove the ejector pin marks in areas where they would be visible...
Posted Image

In the picture I have marked all the ejector pin marks and I then placed all the major components in place to see which ejector pin marks needed work.

The instructions call for the engine to be painted satin black but from all the pictures I have found the engine looks like it is an aluminium block so that is the way I painted it...

The carbon fibre decal was placed on the back as per the instructions an the engine and drive train were fitted along with the tunnel and seat...

Next up is the radiator and the roll cage.

Cheers Andrew

Thanks guys.

Got a little more done today...

Interior is almost complete just a few bits to add alot of details to paint and a few decals to add.

I have painted the exterior and gloss coated it (no pictures of the gloss coat) ...

The gloss has come out orange peelly so will need a lot of polishing to get it to look good.

Thanks everyone for the comments. Unfortunately it has all gone wrong the bit I thought I would struggle with, getting a nice gloss finish, is not going well. I used Vallejo Model Air gloss varnish over Tamiya acrylics and my airbrush is not in good enough condition to spray it well. This has resulted in an orange peel finish that is just too bad to polish out so I have decided to strip it back and repaint and use an aerosol gloss.

Hopefully my second attempt will be better, cheers Andrew

The original paint has been removed thanks to a bit of Fairy power spray so hopefully will get it repainted tomorrow

Hi everyone,

A quick update on this build.....

Painting the shell is not going well. I have stripped it for the third time as the second time the gloss crazed the paint underneath. So hopefully third time lucky!

Whilst the Fairy power spray does its work I have made an effort to finish off the interior....

Still a few little bits to do and a bit of tidying but the interior is pretty much done.
