REVELL 1/72 B-17F ‘Memphis Belle’

Thanks to Revell for the Review Sample

This is a really good nice crisp tooling of a classic WW2 Bomber, the Memphis Belle was this first aircraft in the 8th Airforce to complete its tour of duty, many of you will have seen the film so heres the plane...

The box includes:

8 sprue’s of light grey crisply moulded plastic, which surprisingly for the kits age has a small amount of flash

1 clear sprue of plastic (which incluseds 2 canopies?) , which are all bagged together and therefore risk scratching the clear plastic. As i understand it this is exactly the same as the pervious release but this time you use the alearnate parts to make the F model

The Decals....

The decal sheet is in perfect register and very clean and crisp although some of the decals contain a lot of carrier film

The instructions....

The instructions are of Revell's usual style in booklet form and have Revell colour call outs only.

The markings....

B-17F-10-BO serial 41-24485 DF-A ‘Memphis Belle’ 8th Air Force, 91st BG 324rd BS Bassingbourn, UK May 1943
B-17F-10-BO serial 42-29591 LL-Z ‘The Shamrock Special’ 8th Air Force, 91st BG 401st BS Bassingbourn, Uk October 1943

In Conclusion

This is a lovely kit, that would look good built straight out of the box but also leave room for detailing, there are already many aftermarket parts for this, including, etch, decals, resin.
Would i recommend it ...... YES i would, now where can i put it when its done?

That looks very nice, and nice selection of nose art. SWMBO got me the B17G version at Xmas may just have to get this as well for 2013 which is going to be my year of the bomber.

Lots Of Trouble Usually Serious

I hate to gripe and I know that putting 'Memphis Belle' on the box guarantees you should sell them by the shed load, but it's a tad tedious. Not that it would stop me from buying one and I'm sure lots of people will want one. Also we can see now why they opted for the non-staggered waist guns for the 'G', which was a bit of a talking point.

Thanks to Mark for posting this review. :thumb:

Here is a link (sorry in German) for the B-17 Memphis Belle.
Have a look to the sprue parts, an early B-17G is also possible.

Thank's for the posting of this review. I really like the B-17F(clean nose lines) , and this looks a sweet kit.
