REVELL 1/48 Rafale M & Bomb Rack

Posted Image

This is the re-release and update of the Rafale M kits it was originally released back in 1999, and is essentially the same kit with the added bomb racks and new decal sheet

OK so what is a Rafale?

In the early 80’s, the French Air Force began searching for the next generation of fighter.
Dassault introduced the Rafale design and was authorized to build prototypes. The Rafale appears to follow the lineage of the Mirage 4000 concept, Rafale shares a common attribute appreciated by naval aviators around the world namely two engines!

Ok what do you get....

You get the standard open end box containing a seal packed of 6 grey sprue’s of plastic and 1 clear along with another single loose sprue with the bomb racks. The quality of the moulding is particularly crisp especially for a re-pop

And a decals sheet containing decals for 3 aircraft:

-Dassault Rafale M #15 – Operation Harmattan Flottille 12F – R91 Charles de Gaulla – Lybia 2011
-Dassault Rafale M #32 – First Rafale on Flottille 11F BAN Landivisiau – Feb 2012
-Dassault Rafale M #28 = Det CAPA (Test and Experimentations) 100 Ans Aeronavale – BAN Hyeres-Le Palyvestre July 2010

In Conclusion

This was a very nice kit when initially released, now with the addition of the bomb racks, is a welcome re-release, the moulding are crisp and if the previous version is to go by will build up very nicely. With the addition of the racks you now get a choice of load, with the options of missiles or bombs (GBU-12), i wonder how many people with use the missiles and save the bombs for a typhoon!
