Having just had this new kit delivered I’ve done a quick box review so people can see what you get for your money (currently around £19.99 plus postage). Background From the Revell website. The Lynx is a British multi-role helicopter used primarily for military purposes. It operates worldwide. Built by Westland Helicopters the Lynx undertook its maiden flight 1971 and has taken part in all British military conflicts since 1982. Due to its high reliability, performance and versatility, it is in service in 14 countries. The Sea Lynx has been in service with MFG 3 (Naval Aviation Squadron) "Graf Zeppelin" in Nordholz since 1981. Its equipment and weapons are designed for anti-submarine warfare and extend the "eyes and arms"of the Frigates. Its armament consists of two torpedoes or Sea Skua missiles and a 12.7 mm machine gun. Further equipment includes a variable depth sonar. The Sea Lynx is currently used on operations combating piracy around the Horn of Africa. In September 2006 one helicopter was painted in a particularly attractive livery to commemorate the anniversary of "25 years of the Shipborne Helicopter Sea Lynx". The Box The kit comes in a large box 44cmx24cmx11cm. As normal Revell practice it is end opening I must express a prefernce for the Airfix style of tray box especially for larger kits, it just seems to be easier to work from and sturdier. Nice box art of the special version which can be built and some build pictures on one side: ![]() ![]() The Instructions Typical Revell fare but on better quality paper than most I have seen. ![]() Colour shouts are for Revell paints with a lot of mixing in some instances. Although there are sites to convert Revell colour codes to other manufacturers. ![]() There are 94 stages to the instructions and diagrams look to be very clear. ![]() The painting instructions includes a template to make a mask for the Lynx motif. That will be interesting when I get to it! ![]() Decals The decals, designed by Syhart Decal appear to be in register and clear, and certainly look the part. ![]() The Kit. Moulded in white plastic with finely etched panel lines and good detail. ![]() ![]() ![]() The parts come on 12 sprues plus 2 clear sprues, the transparencies seem to be reasonably thim and clear. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I’m not commenting on the accuracy of the kit as I don’t have the information or experience to do so, this review is so you can see what’s available and make your own mind up. Now I have to try and resist buying the big scale Puma to go with it. Edited by Johni044, Jan 4 2018, 07:17 AM.

That looks a very nice kit ...just one bug bear though... Revell.......will you get a grip !! I know you want us to use your paints ...I have no problem with that but please provide some sort of FS / BS colour reference or even just a simple name for the colour that you want us to mix X 12% Y 28 % and Z 60% ![]() It really does put me off buying kits sometimes ! I know Im not the only one who is sick of chasing after colour schemes. If the Red corner can do it so can you ....It really would help us all. Thanks. Rant over Andy |

And yet they can do it John as I found out when doing the Tigermeet 1/32 ECR Tonka.........FS numbers are provided thankfully as I dont know the colours of Luftwaffe Tonkas. FS36620 was quoted so it was an easy paint job ! So frustrating ...only a few letters and numbers but helps a hell of a lot. Andy |
