REVELL 1/32 Westland Lynx HAS.3![]() ![]() Well best laid plans and all of that, Andy was meant to be reviewing this latest offering courtesy of Revell but the weather has beaten us back. This is the second incarnation of the 1/32 Lynx kit in quick succession, will there be a 3rd? This boxing offers us 2 distinctive Royal Navy Schemes. On to the kit Ok what do you get.... You get the standard open ended blue but, that on this occasion is filled with plastic, but this time its not all white, some is cast in grey!! The box includes: 10 sprue’s of light grey / white moulded plastic, 2 clear sprue’s of plastic, instruction sheet and decal sheet. The instructions.... The instructions are of Revell's usual style in booklet form and have Revell colour call outs only. There are 16 pages containing 81 steps for the build!! ![]() ![]() ![]() The Decals.... The decal sheet is in perfect register and very clean and crisp although some of the decals contain a lot of carrier film, so it may be worth trimming these first ![]() The markings.... There are 2 distinct schemes for this kit Westland Lynx HAS.3 XZ250 ‘635/702’ of No 702 Naval Air Squadron’s ‘Black Cats’ Aerobatics team, RNAS Yeovilton, July 2008 ![]() Westland Lynx HAS.3 ICE XZ246 ‘434/EE’ of No 815 NAS, Aboard Antarctic Survey Vessell, HMS Endurance, 2001 ![]() The Plastic... As previously stated there are 10 sprue’s and 2 clear ones ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() In Conclusion This has been a long awaited boxing of this popular kit, Revell have choose 2 very striking schemes for this but I’m sure the aftermarket guys will be along with more schemes. If it builds like the first boxing did, and there’s no reason why not, this will make an astonishing centre piece to any collection. Now Revell, a 3rd release? Army? Nice review Mark, I must have missed this somewhere along the line, however having just finished the Mk.88 I am looking forward to tackling this one in the near future. After being pointed in the right direction by another member, I would like to bring it to peoples attention that the earlier releases of the Mk.88 came with an additional sprue that is on the right in this picture. ![]() This contains a lot of the parts for a HMA8 version of the Lynx that Revell have never released, in particular the nose and associated sensors. There was also a couple of sprues for different cabin seats. Whilst there are other differences that would require some attention, these parts are a good start for the conversion.
