I will be short on modelling time for the next couple of months, so I will be doing a fairly easy build. It is the Me 262, sold as part of the "Combat Set":

If time allows I will have a go at the Mustang as well.

Nice choice. Being a jet fan, this is definitely my favourite Luftwaffe aircraft. :D

I dont think the Mustang on the box-art will catch up with the Schwalbe B)

And a bit of progress, I am building this one totally OOB including using Revell's colour call-outs.

started with painting the interior:

There are quite a few ejection marks that need dealing with:

Dabs of Milliput sculpted wet should fix them. You might not even need any sanding.

Finally a bit of me time, so I have started the assembly:

It is a shame that all that nice side wall detail is lost once the tub is fitted in.

Nice fit in general, just a minimal amount of filler needed on the nose seam (above) and the wing roots:

Construction, filling and sanding now completed:

I have also masked it up and put a coat of primer on. This is my first RLM scheme build, and do not own the relevant colours. (I only use Revell Aqua paint at the moment and the colour call outs are of two or three mixes, which never go well for me. :grins: )

What are the best paints to use for RLM 76, 81 and 82? I prefer to use water based products. :hmm:

Great work going on there :thumb:

My favorite paint for Luftwaffe RLM are Model Master Acryl, they are marked with RLM codes. Used them on the Moskito ;)

Another alternative are Xtracrylix paints , most RLM numbers included in the range.

Ultimate Paint conversion chart brings these up for Revell Aqua
RLM76= NO MATCH
RLM 81= Aqua 46 Nato Olive
RLM 82= NO MATCH

Paint now acquired, I had to go for Model Air from Vallejo as that was the only acrylic RLM colours that my LMS stock.

Never used them before but they are supposed to work well through the airbrush (as the name suggests).

Spraying has commenced at long last. :yipee:

The bottom and sides have had a coat of RLM76, which was virtually identical to the primer that I had used. :wall:

Once dry I gave it a coat of klear to protect it from the masking tape, and then sprayed the RLM81 as indicated on the chart:

This has now also had a coat of klear, ready for the RLM82 splinter pattern. I will scan the painting plan and up-size it to use as a template.

Thanks Andy, it does seem to cover nicely. The RLM 82 has now been applied, followed by a coat of klear:

Now I just need to pluck up enough courage to tackle the mottle effect. :fp:
