Lots Of Trouble Usually Serious

The issue I've had with Revell enamel is that it seems to be very thick in consistency and sets too rapidly for effective brush painting, even when thinned with either white spirit or cellulose. On the other hand the enamels are very good for spraying if thinned 50/50 (or thinner) with cellulose. That is my experience with matt paints, I can't recall using any of the gloss, which could perform quite differently. peebeep |

I have that same problem peebeep with Revell enamel paints. You buy a tin of matt or gloss colour, and you do not know what it is inside either very thick paint or more or less normal consistency. While I do series production of brushpainting bombs I use yellow 12 and it is thinned heavy. As thinner I use Revell's colour Mix. But the thinned paint is getting back to thicker and thicker in just few minutes. Also once opened tin, paint dries out. The only thing I can think of is that the lid is not sealing the tin, may be caused by siliconmaterial on the lid of the tin. |

I have had the same issues as above. I find it very thick and it dries to quick when brush painting. |

I painted tonight with a NEW tin. Opened it and it looks ok to me, and it was ready to use with thinning. I use revell always for thinning. As stated above i noticed something on the lid. So as a test got the old lid made that clean of its plastic white seal. I do think this material is damaging the structure of the paint once it is broken when you open the tin the first time. I have taken some pics of the old and the new paint tins. The old is several weeks old and dried out. I closed the new tin tonight with the cleaned lid, hopefully this is a good proof that the plastic is harmfull to the paint.

These two photo's below show the old/new tin with the dried out paint. ![]() ![]() This photo is taken immediately after opening the new tin of paint. Here you see the white plastic on the lid very clear, and its this material I have removed for testing and so far the paint stays good. At least I do not notice that the paint is getting thick.
