This will be an abridged build review of the recent re-release of the 1979 original 1:48 Bf 109 G-10.

Now the expectations of a lot have moved on considerably in the intervening 37 years so this kit is very basic by today's standards, especially in the cockpit department, however the overall shape would appear to be quite accurate.

So to start

So after removing the painted parts from the sprue construction can start and it comes together rather quickly.

A little tidy up of some seams but I don't think I'm going to need filler on this at all.

Painting of the main airframe then stated, and I must admit Aluminium on a 109 was a bit of a surprise, however Revell 99 Aquacolor duly applied.

Painting continued with Hellblau (Revell 49).

Then RLM74 - Revell 47 Mausgrau on the upper surfaces

With RLM82 Revell 65 Bronzegrun camo.

Which was then given a couple of coats of Humbrol Clear brushed on before the cotton buds came out to put some mottle marks on it. The spinner spiral will need a little attention, upon reflection it may have been better to apply the decal to it prior to fixing it to the boss.

The decals were applied using Humbrol Decalfix which worked quite well and they were then sealed in with a coat of Humbrol Clear.

The canopy was fitted using Formula 2000, this was the worst aspect of the kit, the main canopy suffered from some type of miss-moulding as it was pinched inwards at the lower front edges.

Flory Dark Dirt wash was applied and wiped off then the model was given a coat of Aquacolor matt varnish, more was was then applied by the exhaust outlets and wiped of again. the U/C; aerials and balancve weights were applied and final touching up done.
