I'll be giving you a review of the Revell 1/12 Custom Chopper kit as I build this one.
The box art is good. But shows exactly what to expect.
There's not a lot of detailing showing in the photo.
This also shows that it's considered a level 5 kit but I would rate it at a level 3.

Parts trees are nice with little, if any, flash visible. There will be the usual trimming and slight sanding as the build goes along. Unfortunately, there is far too much chrome on the various engine parts that, personally, takes away from any sort of realism for this kit. Stripping is the option that I will be using but I would suggest ONLY for the experienced builder. I'll refrain from posting photos of ALL the parts trees as I am quite sure that most of you know what these look like.

These photos show the stripping of the chrome from some of the parts. Most of the engine and some of the smaller parts. I use the Wally World El-Cheapo brand of oven cleaner to do this. Allowing the parts to sit for an hour or two before taking them up to wash in a hot-as-you-can-stand-it scrub with Dawn soap. Then allowing them to dry fully before removing what's left of the chrome sealing lacquer. Then it's time for a primer coat of either flat white or flat black lacquer. Using a flat lacquer serves two purposes. It bonds any left over chrome sealing lacquer as well as providing a good surface for the repainting process.

This is the engine immediately after the initial stripping and wash but before the removal of the left over chrome lacquer sealant. The next photo is of the engine with the primer coat of flat black.

Nice work.

Trying to work out the provenance of bikes and cars is so much harder than other genres. I think this is kit 85-7324 and is a re-release but from when I can't ascertain just as yet.

Yes, that's the correct kit number.

For the main color for the bike I have chosen the Root Beer Metallic.

This is sprayed on after a primer coat of flat white.

There are two coats of the Root Beer and the five coats of clear over the paint and decals.

This is a test fit of the fuel tank, wheels, front fender and forks. They all seem to be well fitting and now it's on to the much needed details.

And here is the finished model. I added color-matched spark plug wires as well as "braided" cables for the clutch, brake and throttle lines.

This was a decent kit to build. Revell could do themselves a favor by adding more parts to the engine. As well as getting away from molding the entire thing as two pieces. And don't even get me start on the overabundance of chrome used. But, overall, a good kit. I certainly wouldn't give it skill lever 5 though. It's more along the lines of a high 3.
