Part Six...Decals

Started to put the decals on tonight and , as usual with Revell kits these days , they work flawlessly , bedding down without much help though I did use Micro Set and Sol and even used Revell Decal Soft for the first time with similar results to the Set/Sol combination. Excellent.
Lately the decal sheets have dropped the Cartograf name and just have "Printed In Italy" on them .....does anyone know if these are still printed by Cartograf or is it a new printer ??

Just a note of caution if you are doing the kit wheels down......the last two digits of the underwing serial code cover the two part main undercarriage door but are not printed separately so some cutting of the decal is required.

I used the paint/decal images to roughly guess the angle of the cuts. Its easier than it looks :)

Just make sure you dont mix up your left and right ;)

Another thing I noticed ......not sure which is correct ....check your references

Underside decals are completed.

Will do the rest later :)

Part Seven :Finishing touches

Decals on and now to deal with the tail sitting issue with a bit of magnetic attraction :D
I got a wooden base and drilled a hole in it to fit the first of two mini magnets I will be using....the other one is superglued to the nose wheel.
Important note....opposites attract !! Dont get your Poles mixed up or it wont work ;)
These magnets can be found on ebay and cost a few pounds for 20. You can get them in all shapes ,sizes and quantities and they are really useful :thumb:

And that was the end of a very enjoyable build !

Conclusion

This is a very welcome re-boxing of the Special Hobby kit and even though its not without some fit issues that need a bit of old fashioned modelling skill it is well worth the extra effort needed to produce a very nice replica of this attractive early jet.
Just dont forget to fill any empty space near the nose/cockpit with lead or you will have the same problem as me !
Thoroughly recommended to anyone with basic modelling skills :thumb:

Thanks to Revell for the review sample :)

Lovely build mate, always liked the spider crab (thank god that name was changed), now if it had been 607 Squadron and an FB5/9, it would have been bought by now.
