I checked out if this fits the theme.
According to Wiki the Buggy was invented in California in 1964
Other references suggest that the VW Beetle cars used for the Buggies post '64 were built in the VW Mexico factory

I bought this one recently as I can't afford the silly money the Airfix one goes for and I wanted one for my 1/32 car collection
It may not have too many pieces but it should turn out decent enough

This is one kit which I wanted some of the trim bits to be 'chromed'
I have one of the new chrome ink pens which I'll use on bits like the roll-bar, windscreen surround, headlamp buckets.

Revell suggest green for its colour but I think I'll go for a metallic red - Humbrol 51
Altho......I do have metallic green Humbrol 50 which is nice too. I used it on a model car body no.3 son was building and it looked well.

All modelling had been suspended for a while.

This is where I left off on the B.B.

I've added the central tunnel from a half of a plastic tube. Lots of mould pin depressions filled, but need smoothed out. I'll add contol pedals, handbrake lever and gear stick. Also needs exhaust pipes. I'll not be doing anything fancy for them, maybe just 4 pipes of 2 shot-gun barrels with bell mouth ends; two pipes each side of the engine, The front and rear around the axles boxes need closed in; you can see straight thru.

I'm searching for better wheels/tyres. The supplied tyres aren't good and the wheels are too small for them. I could wrap tape around them to make them fit but they still look bad. I have some nice wheels/tyres but they're all for road cars, with low profile tyres. I'll see if I can pick up a toy truck at a CBS.
