As I am almost finished the Tomcat I thought I would make a start on my next entry. As part of my Jolly Rogers collection this is where it all began. During WWII the skull and cross bones first appeared on the Corsair's of VF-17. Now I could have gone to the expense of getting the Tamiya kit but the Revell kit is a fraction of the price and still a very decent representation of this famous gull wing.
So here is the box art.

After taping the ends and cutting down one side I have my little box of parts.

Surface detail is mainly raised and rivet but quite acceptable.

The decal sheet.

This is a kit of few parts and so I managed to crack on and start the wing construction. The kit wing is split at the fold so to get a good join on the upper surface I glued the two upper sections together followed by the outer section of the underside.
This was followed by a first coat of Xtracolour interior green.

And in the relevant fuselage areas.

Great stuff Steve, I was surprised how large it was when there was one on the table at Cosford last year.
