Having been after this ellusive kit for a while I was rather chuffed at finally getting one.

A new tool kit released in 1994 it replaced the rather basic kit from previous years which been on the go since the early 70's. It was also interesting that they went with a long nose recce version rather than the short nose gun/missile variant.

So lets see whats in the box.

Interestingly Revell got the shape of this vent right whereas Tamiya's is rather mis-shapen.

Decal sheet looks in decent condition for being 23 years old!

CONCLUSION

The Revell Phantom does have its issues, such as the to deep rear cockpit tub, decals for the instruments, incomplete intakes, thin nose wheel leg and canopy hinges being a bit small. There are one or two other smaller issues that some modellers may want to do something with. However, the vast majority will be more than happy with whats in the box and I have seen quite a few of the newer Revell Phantom built up and they look really nice. And at a fraction of the price of the Tamiya kit you do get value for money and I would/will not hesitate in buying others. In fact I have another two newer moulds in the stash as well as the original RF-4B that I am looking forward to doing.

Recommended.

Thanks to my walllet for the kit.
