A while ago I had this kit for a few from a fellow modeller.
Posted Image

Since I'm not realy into planes, this would be an OOB build.
The only AM PE set that I bought for this kit was the machine guns, since they where very basicly moulded.
I have to say, the machine guns are not the same scale of the plane, but would not be very obvious once fitted on the plane.
Also some scratsh would help to lift this model to a higher standard (I wish :jest: ) ;)

At the time of writing this, the model is already finished...

Here we go :D

When I was looking for some reference on the internet, I was overwhelmed with an overload of pics and drawings in different shemes.
I had to pick one, so I picked the plane of Lothar Von Richthofen.
Lothar? Yes, he was the brother of the Red Baron, Manfred Von Richthofen ;)

His plane was painted partly in yellow, wich I liked.

The parts of the kit:

And now I could get started :)

Starting with the engine, I noticed that a lot of detail was absent, so scratshing would be the only solution.

Posted Image

Some detailing
Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

Also the inside could use some extra details, so some styreen strips came in handy

Starting on the cockpit

Since there where no decals included for the interior, I used some of a truck in 1/24 scale wich I found in my scrapbox

Made a back wall, wich comes behind the seat
Posted Image

Also the seat itself could use some extra attention
Posted Image

And here the difference between the two brothers their planes

And I'm back for a further update :D

The machine guns as provided in the kit
Posted Image

Posted Image

Another vieuw of the interior within the two halves of the plane
Posted Image

Vieuw from above, where can be seen that some filling will be needed between the two halves...
Posted Image

Fitted together with the first wing attached
Posted Image

Posted Image

Something we all like so much on our models, sinkholes
Posted Image

Surgery needed
Posted Image

Looking much better, even if I say so myself :D
Posted Image

Find the differences
Posted Image

Some fine details on the sprues
Posted Image

Some scratshing needed again
Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

Gentle fitting of the wings :nerd:
Posted Image

Some missing detail added with styreen
Posted Image

Posted Image

And more surgery needed on the wings
Posted Image

Wheel supports needed a lot of sanding

Fitting the parts needed lots of dryfitting, cause they come from old molds, wich is very apparent
Posted Image

Before I glued the halves together, I added some wiring

Here some glue was used to fill the seam
Posted Image

Some parts I wanted to replace
Posted Image

Posted Image

Some wiring
Posted Image

Posted Image

Some more scratshbuilding done
Posted Image

Posted Image

Yellow is a very hard to paint colour, so I start with painting the parts in desert yellow as a base
