This one is a nice kit to work on. As I wanted an open cockpit I shaved off the fuselagetop behind the pilotseat and used a surplus Heller FW-190 canopy. The Heller kit also donated the tub which was a futile endeavor as absolutely nothing is to be seen down in the darkness of RLM-66. Don't waste time on detailling the cockpit; add harness from tape or such painted some light khaki! The inner wheelwells were open up into the fuselage and I did build an engine with bits and bots and stuff and a firewall - it too can't be seen once the fuselage is assembled and wings added. Don't detail this kit on the inside its a waste! Do stuff on the outside. I decided to enlarge the airintake for the engine which seemed a little puny and added the other intake above it. The exhausts looked puny too so I got some from a Heller Spitfire XIV and shaved to my liking in group of 2-3-1. Also added some cannon bulges in front of the cockpit. It's a very nice kit as is - let it stay that way and use the time on painting. I wanted to do an aircraft with a link to Denmark; one Ta 152 H-0 was found at Aalborg Airfield in 1945 at the German surrender. Green 4. Former ?? + CJ It was brushpainted in two stages - first standard Luftwaffe RLM something and mottle with Luftwaffe markings including Reich tailband - second Allied overpainted Luftwaffe markings. A few pics is on the internet including one in colour and the aircraft is being restored in the US - a blog can be found too. A lot of text - here's the pics: ![]()

I remember getting extremely excited when Frog announced they were releasing a Ta 152, at that time we were on a steady diet of Spitfires, P-51s, Bf 109s etc and this was exotic. I like the scheme and the associated story with it, the aircraft is now the only surviving Ta 152. |

Yes, Revell acquired the tooling after the demise of Frog. Frog kits continued to be manufactured in the former Soviet Union under the Novo deal, but Axis subjects were excluded for ideological reasons. The Ta 152 was reissued as recently as 2013. |

Thanks guys; it was an easy build. Real FROG kit with small number of well fitting parts. Fun doing the interiors though.

Very nice build.I built this kit and thought it somewhat simplified, I came across a cheap Dragon kit at a swap meet and was very excited about building a "proper" version. It's been back and forth from the shelf of doom several times and is still not finished, it may never be. I know now why I got it so cheap, over engineered, vague instructions and ill fitting, it's been a nightmare. Give me the straightforward Frog/Revell kit any day. I'm sure a better modeler than me could do a good job of the Dragon kit but as far as I'm concerned, life is too short to spend that much time battling a single engined 1/72 kit. |
