Time Frame: Shortly after the New Arrivals thread. Characters: Byrosa & Caretaker Location: The Dawn. Taking a plate of food back with him to his office after the excitement wore down he suddenly remembered that Byrosa, being like Cairo, would not have a profile in their system. And as such he would need to type it out by hand. All that was in the system right now was Squarejaw’s useless mugshot. He walked over to the side and then pounded his head against a button to access the ship’s PA system. Though his face was smushed he managed to muffle out. “Byrosa, I just remembered something, we need to discuss in private about your housing location. Please come to my office and once again follow the lights.” All of a sudden the hallway light up with neon arrows that frankly burned to look at for too too long. The same arrow shapes but instead of a hot dog this time it was replaced with a blinky version of Caretaker’s face. Caretaker quickly rushed into his office and set the plate of food on his desk. He then hopped up off of a stool onto his chair and fired up his computer. He loaded up a blank profile and started to type her name. “By…Bi?...Birowsaw….dangit…I’ll just ask her when she arrives.” Byrosa had been wandering around fairly aimlessly through the Dawn, creating a mental map of the layout. She wasn't really sure what to do at this point, no one had specified a room she was supposed to stay in, and it seemed a good idea to familiarize herself with her new surroundings. It was then that she heard Caretaker's strangely muffled voice fill the halls, telling her to come to the... wherever the arrows were pointing. The goblin did seem to have an affinity for goofy cartoon graphics in neon arrows. With a sigh, Byrosa followed the glowing path until she arrived at what she could only assume was Caretaker's office. She pushed open the door, ignoring the chairs completely and instead sat on the corner of the goblins desk. Byrosa leaned over caretaker like some sort of fiery vulture, "You wanted to see me?" Caretaker looked up at the fiery woman ‘ …damn you’re tall, that’s not even fair… ’ “Oh yes, hello, thank you for coming to see me. I've just got some questions for you, really a formality but everyone in the system has to have a profile ‘ except Cairo.. ‘. And afterword’s we’ll need to discuss housing conditions. I’m not sure what you’re used to but, I get the feeling that lying on a bed with that hair of yours wouldn't be too good.” He pushes his chair back and reached for a cup of coffee, sipping at it he got his hands to the ready. “First and foremost…how do you spell your name?” "B-y-r-o-s-a" The Djinni rolled her eyes. All of the legitimate questions he could ask and he leads with that? Still, she had to be careful about this. The goblin was recording this, so it wouldn't be good to give away too much information "I'm a fire spirit," She began, carefully avoiding the 'D' word, "I was shaped on the world of Bhadaxlh and spent my adolescence there. On my homeworld we have some knowledge of other worlds, so after a while I decided to head out and see what else was out there." "Let's just say it didn't go to well," She continued, casting her gaze down and trying her best to look depressed. "On several of the worlds I went to people tried to capture me and use my magic for their own ends. Eventually I wound up trapped in a bottle for a while, only to be released by this blond dofus. Then this portal opened up, and I know a portal to another world when I see one, so I jumped through it and got pulled here." Caretaker listened intensely to everything she had to say, all the fascinating details of possible magical powers, spiritual energies, the great unknow- “And how to you spell...Bh...bhadlaxl?” Frankly put, everyone has a past, and the goblin has heard a lot of them. But the devil is in the details with this sort of thing. If every I is not dotted or every T not crossed, it'd be his head on the chopping block. He swirled a pen around in his hand, only needing one to jot most of the stuff down. “Also while we're on the subject of homes, if you were to lay on say, a cotton sheeted bed would your hair catch it fire?” Rubbing his face he reached down and un-clipped a keycard from his belt, the one that gave access to the room. "Here, just have the ship direct you to where it is, if you have any problems with it just come find me again." he spoke while sliding it over to her regrettably. "But one last thing before you go. I made Cario do the same when he was here, can you show me an example of your powers? Just something simple will do" Byrosa watched as a tiny stress toy flew through the air towards her. This was going to be the most disappointing demonstration ever. Still, might as well make it count. Thrusting her arm out, Byrosa created an orb of flame around the squishy projectile, reducing it to a blob of molten rubber. It stopped just short of her palm, hovering in a mass of burning air. Byrosa began reaching out around her, pulling in heat energy from the ship, feeling her strength increase. Bringing all her energy into her arm she pulled back and smashed the remains of the stress ball into the ground. As she did so, her energy leapt out in all directions, creating a cone of flame all around her. There was a crackling noise as carpet and floor tiles broke under her punch, leaving a fist sized crater in the floor. The carpet now had a large hole in it all around Byrosa where the fire had burned it away, and above her, the ceiling now had several large round scorch marks on it. Byrosa looked down at the splattered remains of her target. "Oops." Caretaker's jaw dropped and quivered as she started, and turned two shades paler green when she finished. He slowly crawled over his desk praying his rug survived the assault, the front of his desk was lightly charred and there was a massive hole leading all the way down to the metal flooring. “M...my rug...” He winced. “That's...suitable, you're definitely powerful enough to join...just...” he stopped to catch his breath. “Try not to invoke any friendly fire. We're a small group and if any cogs need to be replaced the whole machine stops.” He got up and rubbed what would've been the start of a tear out of his eye, walked over to her and started pushing her out of his door. “But I’m very very busy right now, I need to go requisition a new rug and all new flooring for my office and that'll keep me per-occupied for a while, so if you please don't mind, go find your new room...and don't start any more fires...” Byrosa slipped around the goblin quickly enough to snatch the keycard off of the desk, then quickly slid out the door, "Don't worry, I'll try not to." Byrosa slid the door shut before making a beeline for the smelting room. She really hadn't expected to get off that easily for torching the room. The goblin must really be desperate for help. She could definitely use that to her advantage... Caretaker sighed as he looked at the hole in his floor, kicking a small amount of rubble into it. "Hmm...this will take a while to fix..." but first he had a job to do, he went over to his console and finished Byrosa's report. Marking her as "extremely dangerous, prone to doing irrationally large displays of firepower" Pushing away from his desk he headed to his lab, maybe an hour or three of tinkering would clear his head. It usually did. Edited by Edicus, May 7 2014, 03:56 PM.
