Agree with pretty much all of that Mac bar... 1) I don't think Hill is as bad as you say in the scrum. 2) I think SMyler should be flatter regardless as you want Luther to take the ball from him near the gain line so any yards he makes are positive yards. |

for me there are huge fundamental errors in his scrumaging. due to his lack of upper body bulk he is forced to extend his body, this leads to a position where his feet a no longer under him and his hips are too low causing destabilisation. it also prevents the second row from be able to imput his power as well. meaning that hill is virtually trying to deal with the entire pack by him self, causing him to pop up (normally) or, dependent on the oppositions loosehead's angle, go in or down. |

Love it we might end up with a proper discussion on the forum if this carries on.I was was there the week myler ran at the defence and it wasn't a bad run bet you can all remember it a rarety. JJ never had a consistent run in any position till now, perhaps when the others have been here a couple of years we might be allowed to see why they sighned them. Never change a loosing team we don't. |

Interesting stuff Mac. As a former front-row forward I take notice of what goes on and hadn't noticed too much wrong with Hill on that front. I'll pay closer attention next time he's on... Another thought, the over-extending you describe would normally lead to him slipping and going down. Popping up tends to happen when you get your feet too far underneath you, you've locked out and won't move but you're not in a position to push properly so you just pop up. Get your feet too far underneath you and you hinge and go down. I'm definitely going to watch Hill closer now though to see what's going on... Edited by happyclapper, Dec 16 2016, 07:07 PM.

Well written, couple of insights. I wasn't expecting some journo to give the answers though, but a decent summary of the position we're in. |

I hear we are to be investigated for fielding a weak team. Which match does it relate to? Could be about 10 this season! Things really aregetting serious now. Investigation for North affair; two members of front row including England captain suspended; investigation for fielding a weakened team; no attack coach; qualifying for Europe next year a disappearing dream for a full house. So what decent attack coach is going to sign up for that? It will need a new DOR with their own team to liven up this club now. I dont really think that a win against Sale is enough for a stay of execution. The board cant keep on fiddling while Saints are burning! |

Well, Onward, the Neros on the board ignored the problem 10 years ago and didn't react until we were relegated. This time there is no Uncle Keith to put a rocket up their collective backsides. Tony Hewitt's statement was, I thought, somewhat complacent although I know I'm in a minority on that point. On that basis, I think Jim will see in the new year, whatever happens against Sale. The weakened team investigation relates to this weekends Leinster debacle. |

Interesting from Austin, he seems to just think we have no money.. If we really are 400k short of funds and its not just we cant find the players that's really concerning and this will not be getting any better any time soon... http://sport.bt.com/video/healey-saints-getting-left-behind-because-theyre-skint-91364121526621 |

Interesting point. If true, why would that be? Grounds have been full in the recent past and tickets aren't cheap. Have the ground developments been too big a drain on resources? |

I read that to be that we are only spending £450k of the salary cap, and if it goes up another £500k to £1million a year then we will be only paying less than half of the capped amount. Wiggy eloquently assumes and states that we "Are skint' Maybe it could be the build of the new stand, which for now seems a bit of a folly, or could it be that the club just do not want to spend the money and have an eye on sustainability? One day I may see some positive news...... |

Cant remember the exact figures but the cap is £4.5mish, plus you get allowances for having England players . You also get marque players you can sign outside the cap, its really not straight forward, so not sure how Austin knows we are £400k below the cap. My guess (hope) is the money was set aside to fund the world class signings that never materialised. The more telling point for me in the clip was Laurence D saying you either have to change the players or the coach over a 10 year period, we've done neither and stagnated. And if we really haven't got the money, why not, the BT Sport deal alone should help us meet the cap. |

The cap is slightly more then 4.5 now, from memory its more like 6.5 going to 7.5, with 250k academy credits and two marqee outside the cap |

It did go up a lot. now the theory was that it went up because the TV deal was so good.... but in fairness we will not see much of an improvement in teams. Those at the top were already spending this much and the cap went up to protect them, those at the bottom will still struggle to attract players because all teams have more money to play with. Basically, the only change is that TV has more power and Players wages go up for doing the same job. Saints should be fine, our issue is the number of our most expensive players not performing, not that we cant afford them. |

Being £450k below the cap is not an issue, to me it just implies we won't spend money unless the players are worth it. What got me was the comment about us being broke. If that is true, then I can only think it's due to the loan on the stadium. And then being below the cap is concerning as it means we've spent and invested beyond our means... |

With you on that HC, why spend it for the sake of it? If there is a player out there worth the money and he wants to play for us spend it otherwise hang on until the right man appears. As for the comments about us being broke,we may not have the same cash as we had before we built the new stands but seems unlikely we are broke and posting profits year on year. We well know at the end of the Financial Year if its the case I expect. |

Flanker, when I saw it, I took it as a statement about we're paying under the cap and then a flippant / sarcastic remark about us being skint. I.e. we make a profit therefore why aren't we paying up to the cap. |
