So then.... Things continue to get worse. We all expected to loose with a weakened team last week but I am sure we expected things to be a bit closer. Especially after we did well for the first 30 mins. Well we got what we deserved anyway so no complaints. The problem we have now is we saved a number of players to give us the best chance this weekend, but that adds even more pressure. I think its time Jim picks a team to score some points rather than trying not to loose because that is not working. We need some big ball playing forwards to step up and pile on the pressure so Mikey, Ethan, Api, Courts, Harrison, Nutters, Wood need to start. We need backs who will do something different, now i know we have injuries so JJ should stay at 12 until we have anyone but Luther fit to play there. Collins at 14/15 we need some real pace. We cant just keep doing the same thing and i know its hard to make a lot of changes and expect instant results but sticking with the same players has not worked for ages and only the newer players introduces have looked good. I would be tempted to keep Ken on a wing as he is going well still (imo) As much as i would like North at 13 i think we need to try and avoid too many collisions. Basically, try something new and give it a month to see if it works. |

Not sure why, but I cannot wait for this match even after the pummeling of last weekend. I have a good feeling about the game. Bonus point win is my prediction

Ah bu**er!!!! For some reason when I typed it, I thought is George injured, not sure, I'll type it anyway and I'm sure someone more knowledgeable than me will let me know. In that case, a Luther master-class at 13. Or if Luther is injured, why not North there? |

on paper that's not far off full strength. Although as North is missing I am going to have to change my prediction slightly: Five golden trys... Four penalty kicks Three try hattrick (King Lewie) Two drop goals And all without Dylan Hartley! |

Its a heck of a team. Knowing who is banned and Injured thats pretty much full strength and they all individually are good enough to win this. The question is can the Team pull together and play well? I hope so. It will click at some point and that will be a great day. Might as well start now. If we can win the next 3 we can start looking up rather than down in the league. |

Like the look of the side. Not sure why no North as he was passed fit to play. Loving fact Solomona is straight in but no experience at all of Union at a professional level. He had an absolute storming last season but that's about it, so I think a huge risk for Diamond to stick him straight in. Personally, I'd pepper him with high-balls and get the backs running at him to tie him in to rucks and mauls, he could be a penalty machine for them!! |

At last a back row in their proper positions, should get some go forward from the set piece to let the backs have front foot ball and maybe score a try or two which should lift the spirits at the gardens. Looking forward to the game tomorrow. Removed the double post for you RS

Solomona is very good in the air but be interesting to see how he does defensively, he can tackle but whether he has his positioning down is the issue. he really is a tremendous player, i said a while back he was off to sale and that we should have been in for him, not sure we need the controversy at the mo though. |

I agree Mac, he will be very good in the air, most RL players are. The issue for him will be the laws around when he can and can't compete. If regular RU player can make a hash of it and get carded, he's going to be at risk. Also, it's operating the pendulum. Again, regular RU players struggle with it at times, so he is going to be really stretched. Stevie needs to be heads up and checking for players out of position. This might be why Estelles has got the nod as I assume he has real gas being a 7s specialist. |

alot of truth in that, will be interesting especially with charnley on the other wing, who i dont rate at all. two new ru players in the back three with the other a child, could be a area to attack. having said that newcastle couldnt operate the pendulum at all and we still didnt make the most of it! |

About as good a team as we could put out at the moment. Have to say that I would have tried Tuitavake instead of an out of form Luther. Almost as important as the points tonight is the performance. A scraped win would get the points but mask the more deep seated problems |

Isn't it strange, I too have a feeling of optimism, I have been worn down by the onslaught of bad news and 'kicking' that the 'we' have taken over the last few weeks. No need to mention the results which have added to the gloom. But, i just feel as if that phase is gone, the low must surely have been reached. I am looking forward to this match, I want to see the team come screaming out of the blocks and sustain an intensity for 80 and maintain discipline. Even Wiggy and Steve Diamond are being positive about the club. COME ON YOU SAINTS! |

A win is a win but still far from good enough against a poor side. No points with the yellow card, allowing 15+ phases at least three times, having to make twice as many tackles something like three times as many phases in our 22 as in theirs. Poor substitution. Louis who? He should have gone off instead of Wood (deserved MOM). Sorry, not normally so critical but this was a golden opportunity missed to take 5 points and prove that things can get better. This performance is not going to get us in the top 6 at the end of the season.

Well, if last Saturday night somebody offered me the result of this match 24 - 5 , I would have seized it. Not a table topping performance but a big improvement, a step in the right direction, keep it going COYS! |

We had 2 trys disallowed. Both were correct but close. A 5 try win would have looked a fair return for the hard work the boys put in. |

Much better performance, got Christmas off to a good start. Not vintage but any sort of win would have done last night. Good to see Myler having a strop, shows they care. |

Really happy we won and difficult to criticise when the team have been struggling however we still really struggled to make yards a lot of the time still looked one dimension in the backs and I am concerned by our scrum. Sale were a poor side last night. However I take my hat off to the lads and would just point out my prediction of 5 trys was correct (albeit two were dissallowed). Had the first one stood we could have seen something a bit special. As it was 4 points were desperately needed and what the performance deserved. |
