LAST UPDATE - SUNDAY 04/12/09 20:46PM
All right I’ve learned my lesson from the last blog: don't try to make an apocalypse army list without knowing your foe (and since your foe can be anyone in apoc it pretty much burns the idea in the first place)
So instead of building a apoc list I will instead build my forces from 1500 up as that’s what my friends and myself play now as everyone has enough models. So with that in mind I have two lists to get some C&C from people.
As a whole my force is called the conclave of damnation and consists of word bearers, insanity's choir, The Highborn and Khorne daemons. The marines have now mixed using each other’s strengths to claim victory (and also to add some colour to my force overall).
For my traitor guard (the Highborn) I’m using the guard codex for them. The daemons can wait, as I want to get my guard in gear and the marines though the marines need less work. So here are the lists for the two armies, sorry but no pictures right now as I’m out of batteries and I’m going to get some rechargeable ones (the camera eats through too many).
Oh and before I forget could you throw some traitor guard ideas at me. I looked around a bit but all I found was the forge world models and I don't want to shell out for forge world stuff. My guard army background wise is that their organised (blood pact style) and love war. I could build normal Cadians but A - most people do that, and B - that’s just boring.
Right the lists
GUARD Regimental Doctrines ·Renegade Psykers (Sanctioned Psykers) ·Special weapons squads ·Hardened Fighters - 15pts infantry ·Unswerving loyalty (Die-Hards) - 5pts infantry · Veterans

Armoured fist squad - Chimera (multi-laser, heavy flamer), Vox, meltagun, and frag grenades. 190

TINY UPDATEZORS!!1!!111oneoneone
after looking through the internets for inspiration it came a little closer to home then i though it would. the picture attached is a Nazi shock trooper from the manga Hellsing. these guys are all vampires and wield heavy weapons like a sub machine gun. now i'm not making my army a horde of nazi soldiers as that would most likely get me thrown out of stores for using them. i'm merely taking their look.
so now i'm going to model a test model with the trench coat and scarf which is covering the mouth to see if its viable with the cadian plastics. i got like 70 of them so i will patience (too bad i can't buy that in a shop).

Your choice of doctrines is odd, as you aren't using one of them, Special Weapons squads (unless thats the Big Mutants?). For modelling, mix the catachan and cadian boxes for your Infantry units. Add a little chaos stuff from vehicle sprues, chaos marines etc and they'll look pretty good. Save up a bit of cash to get some awesome Forge World models to use as Officers, psykers and mutants and you'll be sorted :D

i was going to put a special weapon sqaud in but i ran out of points. the forge world stuff i don't like, most look too nurgle i would like a unified look rather then a bunch of rable (which mixing cadian and catachan bits, will). also i may be changing my doctrines as i with the look i'm going for won't look right with ogryns with them (though the ws4 s6 attacks are tempting).

EDIT: oh and if anyone knows where i could get some cheap back packs for my entire force, please tell. i only have three from heavy weapon crews.

UPDATEZORS!!!11!1oneoneone
last night i made my first dude for the test and i think he turned out good (managed to get no figerprints on his coat)

i simply started out with the cadian legs and torso and added a strip of GS and started from the his right and worked round until i had blended the GS in with the lining of the coat. i then stuck the backpack on and a few pouchs and grenades. put the arms and head on as normal and used a tiny bit of GS to make a rag covering his lower face.
i also made this psyker aswell, he has a sealed helmet and uses his power to sense people out. used the catachan legs and torso to give a berserker feel to them.
i then spent around an hour pulling knives, pouchs, grenades, and other equipment from a unorganised bits box for gear to put on my soldiers. if got a small bag full which should hopefully be enough. it contains SM, CSM, IG and Kroot equipment, and also some IG tank accessories including a shovel! :D
now to produce anoth 59 odd trench coats. oh joy.
EDIT: changed the guard list to the updated version.

UPDATEZORS!!!11!1oneoneone
hey all haven't been updating much and i'm sorry, between finding a job, looking after a dog (whos been ill recently) and building this army, i haven't been able to get on this site without finding myself distracting myself on other sites. but i have been productive, i found myself a supply of back packs from my local modeling shop. one of the guys who runs it also collects guard and knew what i talked about when it came to how lightly the IG are equiped so he searched his whole stock over the weekend and found me a box set which contained 20 guys and their back packs and sold it to me for £5 to see if they worked. they turned out great and its alot cheaper then paying double the price for forgeworld packs and get only half. not sure what their from as he threw the box away.
anyway i've done 26 of the 72 great/trench coats and finished assembling 3 of 9 squads (support squad, vet squad and infantry squad) but i haven't finshed a few minor details on them (mainly the scarfs). also with the new units i thought my command squad looked a bit dull so i purchased a basing kit and began with the following.
heres the standard bearer, i've made all of them off the base and detailed the bases using the kit, i also need to do the trench coats on these guys and do some filling but this is how they look so far.

flamer vet with a loyalist banner pole burried in the rubble, i'm going to GS a tattered banner on it possibly scorched by the vet whos walked by it.

The 'medic' whos pointed out the next victi- i mean patient... gave him a servo-type back pack to show that hes pretty brutal when it comes to first aid. need to finish his servo-arms by bulking them out and adding pistons and such on them and attach the auspex in his hand to a length of wire running to the backpack.

updated Warlord Marcellinus, with a more dramatic pose made from the catachan knelling knees and the tank crew legs. i was thinking of giving him a bolter instead but i'm not quite sure.

and lastly the Master Vox ready for combat, might make his equipment more unique so that he ain't mistaken for a normal vox operator with a fancy helmet.
so i will continue with these tomorrow as i have been working on them most of today. cya next time. :D

small update: i'll be taking a short break on these guys as i want to quickly pick up my nids again and assemble a 1500pts in time for a easter campaign i'm doing with my friends. didn't want to use chaos as two of my friends collect CSM (this is out of six) another 1 and one of my chaos friends collects LSM as well as a gaurd player and i wanted to bring an army which no one else had.
also i've removed the medic from the squad as the rules right now are a waste so now hes a pile of slag for the time being.

can't believe i haven't found this site before. Pig Iron productions
not only is it cheap (£3 for 20 heads) but it has quite a few to choose from and they fit GW models as a guy has done conversions on the site with them. thinking i might be able to have ogryns again by buying the wardroids and making them possessed robots. also wanting their apc, the things huge at £22 and i'll be one of the few guard armies without the chimera model in the army. gave a link in case anyone wants a look round. a list of the products is in the how to order section.

Cheers for the link pal. Those militia models are brilliant and theres plenty of inspiration for models and terrain on there.
I live up the road from these people and never knew they existed!

UPDATEZORS!!!11!1oneoneone aw... all activity has stopped again anyway heres what i've recently put together. yesterday i finished a army list for me chaos when i noticed my defiler, now i had assembled it and put some extra close combat weapons on. at the time i thought they were pretty good (around the time of chaos 5th edition release) but now i thought "F*** what was i thinking?" so i began to pull the arms off it only to have the torso cleanly fall apart. with a defiler torso in pieces i decided to try something that i would of done when i got a 2nd defiler, so far i only know of two other ones on the internet so heres the third. i've taken lots of pictures so that other people can follow suit as the pictures i found were either too small, overly detailed or painted, this shows how the model is stuck together.
i present the bipedel defiler!
currently i'm filling gaps and the such, these photos were taken this morning at around 1:20am as that is when i was finished putting it together. the whole model can be built from a defiler and plastic card but i added some extras like the land raider rear (which i ordered for my IW prince a long time ago) and a leman russ cannon because it looked better.
the base, made it out of two cds super glued together and a disc of plastic card, may be hard to tell but i drew out 2cm squares on it and ran a craft knife across to mark them out then used a razor saw to cut them deeper making floor tiles. got the pillar from a left over piece of my pegasus terrian. i also added some chipping to the tiles.

the legs, going to get some magnets for the torso to connect so it's easier to transport.
 foot detail

the face, going to make it resemble the word bearer icon.

the arms

and the Torso

would love C&C

Thats...amazing! Never would have thought to have an upright defiler, I've never seen one either. You enjoy putting things together don't you? Not so hot on the painting side of things though

well i'm in the process of painting my 1500pts of chaos marines with this in the list, right now the defiler is the only one without paint and the guardsmen as still waiting for their heads to come.
