The Cornerian Bar on Galaxies
Drake looked Krystal dead in her eyes, his eyes bearing a look of resentment - not of her, but of himself, of the battle that took his would-be mother away. "What do you care?" he sobbed. "You don't even know me."

The Cornerian Bar on Galaxies
By the time Alex and Krystal shouted, Drake's hand tightened on the glass so much, it was crushed; pieces of glass penetrated his skin, and a mixture of Romulan Ale and neon-green blood spilled onto the counter. Drake's reaction was instant - even as his hand bled, he broke down in tears, burying his muzzle in his other arm as he sobbed.

"I'm sorry," he sobbed, "I just... I get like this whenever I remember what happened to Kee... to Mom."

Using his good hand and his powers, he grabbed his wallet and slapped down a number of credits to replace the broken glass. He looked to Krystal, then said, "I'm sorry." He then began to pick pieces of glass out of his hand, hissing at the pain.

(It's no prob, Kursed. Common mistake. I apologize for the lateness of this response - busy night at work. And a big f***er of a storm. Bah...)

Drake sighed. "Yeah, so it would seem," Drake agreed. He looked to Zack. "Dad has lost much in recent years. Star left him... Dad damn near lost my grandfather, Draco... and the most recent casualty was..." Drake unexpectedly stopped, and his gaze returned to his glass of ale. "... Keesha." Tears welled up in his eyes as he spoke, "Even though she wasn't my mother... I still loved her as such. She... was killed in a skirmish over on Gamma-Virginis, against a rebel band of Kirn and Zurrak." Drake sniffled, remembering the day he was brought the news.

Drake sat alone in his father's quarters, pondering the terrible news his father bore. It couldn't be good; his face was grim. A couple of times, Drake swore he saw tears in Kyle's eyes. Keesha was nowhere to be found, and Drake was beginning to run scared.

Finally, Kyle came in. His face was wet with tears. "Drake," he said, his voice quivering, "I'm... afraid I have some bad news."

"Dad," Drake asked, "Where's Keesha? Where's mom?"

"That's the bad news," Kyle responded. "She... She's dead. Her ship was destroyed. I checked the manifests; no survivors. All hands lost."

Drake was shocked. Keesha was...? How? "She'll come back, right?" Drake asked, his voice shaking. "She always did."

"No, Drake," Kyle said, tears in his eyes and streaming down his face, "She's not. Not this time. I'm sorry."

Drake couldn't believe what she was hearing. "No," he exclaimed, "No! It isn't true! You're lying! She's not dead!!"

"I wish I was, Drake," Kyle stated. "But It's true. Believe me, I want her to come back - but it won't happen, not this time."

Drake screamed in agony, hearing the worst news in his life - he rampaged around the room, right into his father's arms. He screamed again, tears flowing like rivers down his face.

Drake's tears, as they had them, flowed down his face. His jaw shook, and his face bore a look of anger and grief. Though he didn't realize it, his grip on his glass tightened, and the glass began to crack.

(Just so you know, Kursed, there was only one Marauder War. There were three Kemoran Wars, which Kyle Indari fought in... not to nag or anything.)

Drake nodded. "Dad spoke of you, too - how you were among those who had seen him not as some monster, but a person." He looked into his drink, as though seeing something inside. "Dad's got a scarred mind and heart - It'd be a miracle if he recovered. Even though he acts like everything's okay, that's... merely an act."

(Gotta go. I'll be back later.)

The Cornerian Bar on Galaxies
Drake looked back at Krystal. "Did you know Keesha? And for that matter, how do you know my father?"

Lol, was that an Eragon reference, or just a coincidence that Saphira said the same thing in the movie?

The Cornerian Bar on Galaxies
"Yeah," Drake agreed. "Dad always does. After all, he's the High General of the Marauder Corps, Survivor of the Fall of Cerinia, Veteran of the Kemoran Wars, and Victor of the Marauder War. He's been to hell and back a dozen times over." He sipped his ale, then commented, "But... I guess his current, ongoing mission... is one tied to my origins - he knows he's my father, knows how I came to be - but neither him nor I know who my mother is." Drake chuckled, then added, "It's strange... I always thought Dad's old flame, Keesha, was my mother - but DNA tests proved otherwise. That's one thing that's been bothering dad - if Keesha isn't my mother, who is?"

Kyle sat drinking his Romulan Ale when the comm unit in his gauntlet beeped.

"Captain Tossan to General Indari, come in." came the voice of a Romulan.

Kyle tapped a few buttons in his gauntlet, then answered, "Indari here, go ahead, Captain."

Sir, there's... an odd signal coming from a neighboring system; we can't make anything out of it." Tossan reported.

Kyle sighed. "Copy that, make ready to beam me back, Captain. Indari out." He shut off the comm unit, slapped the needed credits on the counter, then mumbled, "So much for R & R." He looked to Drake. "Drake, did you get here by ship?"

Drake nodded. "Yeah, that JX70 Refit you gave me for my birthday last year," he responded. "It's parked in one of the landing bays. Why? Need to commandeer it?"

"No," Kyle responded. "I want you to stay here - consider it shore leave after that last op."

"Um... okay. Just... be careful, okay, dad?" Drake responded.

"When aren't I?" Kyle asked.

Drake raised an eyebrow. "Was that a rhetorical question, or should I actually crunch those numbers?" Drake countered. Kyle laughed, then ruffled his son's hair.

"That's my boy," he said. Activating the Comm unit, he said, "Indari to the Dragon's Rage... energize."

The transporter energized, and Kyle vanished in a brief glow of green light.

Drake straightened out his hair, then ordered another glass of Romulan Ale. "My dad," he said.

The Cornerian Bar on Galaxies
Drake looked to Alex. "Ask me anything, I'll tell you the truth."

"Take it from me, he will," Kyle put in. "Like me, Drake tends to speak his mind."

A loud belch from Drake followed, and he then said, "Excuse me."

The Cornerian Bar on Galaxies
"I am being honest," Drake said. "What don't you think I'm being honest about?"

The Cornerian Bar on Galaxies
(Were they talking to Drake or Kyle?)

The Cornerian Bar on Galaxies
"Sounds like he has a drinking problem" Argo mentioned flexing his wings

"And a Anger issue." Alex added as she took another bite of her meal.

"Not so much," Kyle stated. "Drake, you're not drinking Raptorian Battle-Mead, are you?"

"No," Drake responded with an innocent shake of his head. "Just some Romulan Ale."

Kyle paused, looking over Drake's drink, then shrugged. "No problems, then." he said. He looked to Alex and added, "As my son, Drake inherited my, uh... immunity to intoxicating effects of certain drinks. I've no problem with him and Romulan Ale. It's Raptorian Battle-Mead I don't want him drinking, and he's alergic to Vidarrian Moon-Wine."

"Oh, geez, dad," Drake groaned, "Don't go there - not again. Took forever to get rid of that."

The Cornerian Bar on Galaxies
"Subtle, Alex," Drake grumbled. "Real subtle."

"Drake, don't think I don't see you over there," Kyle said.

Drake sighed, "Yeah, it's me."

"What are you drinking over there?" Kyle asked.

The Titanian Cantina
Faasnu started, "No, I just want--" He paused as an unexpected belch erupted from his mouth. "Oops," he chuckled. "Excuse me. Just a glass or two of Blood Wine for me, please."

The Cornerian Bar on Galaxies
"Nice try," Drake chuckled. "But I'm not that stupid. But if you must know, I was grounded when I... had a little too much Raptorian Battle-Mead and caused a bit of a scene. Dad had to drag me away to keep from getting embarrassed any--"

"Drake Indari," Kyle said in a stern, fatherly tone, "Is that you over there?"

"F**k," Drake cursed quietly.

The Cornerian Bar on Galaxies
"That's not it," Drake mumbled to Alex. "He doesn't know I'm here - and I'm supposed to be grounded after that little... incident over on New Jerusalem."

The Cornerian Bar on Galaxies
Indari munched on the leftover fries from his meal, then looked to Zack. "Hey, Zack, have you met my son?"

"Oh, s**t," Drake mumbled to the nearest person.

The Titanian Cantina
"No," Faasnu responded. "It's not real blood - take it from someone who's drank it before. I'm not sure why Klingons name is as such, but it's got a good kick to it."

The Titanian Cantina
(I hope so. In any event...)

Faasnu drank down the last of his second glass of Romulan Ale, and decided to change the drink. "Bartender," he asked, "Do you have any supply of Kemorainian Mead or Klingon Blood Wine?"
