Drummer peaks the top of his head over the three stack of cakes. "New Neighbor."

Janie continued driving, and the red-striped SUV continued to follow her. It moved closer, as though lining up for a shot. Someone rose from the skylight, armed with an assault rifle. It was all she needed.

"Computer, deploy armor! Shields up and weapons hot!"

The attacker fired a burst that glanced off the shields. Police radio channels would go haywire with reports of weapons fire, and a half-dozen police cruisers would converge on the 'hog and the SUV following it. Janie drove away from the crowded highway, and into a vacant field. The off-road tires were perfect on that terrain, and she was able to keep the 'hog under control; the SUV was not so lucky. It flipped over, throwing the shooter from the skylight onto the field. Janie was quick to exit, grabbing her G42M1 as she went. The shooter went for his rifle - an archaic AK50 - but had his arm pinned to the ground by Janie's boot.

"Don't try it, mudak," she told him, keeping her rifle leveled at the man's head "You're not that fast."

Police arrived moments later, and Janie showed them her DMC ID card. They let her go without incident, where she climbed into the 'hog, disengaged the weapons, shields and armor, and drove back onto the highway, then got off at an exit to hit the local grocery store. She walked inside, keeping her lightsaber concealed in her sleeve.

"Never a dull moment with the DMC," she muttered.

Kiersey, released the deadbolt and opened the door.

"New neighbor, huh? Welcome to the neighborhood."

"Thanks" Drummer groans, hefting the cakes in both hands. "Would you mind if i pop in for a sec? These are heavier than they look."

Above them all, Calliope begins the main chorus of the Danse Macabre, swinging her feet in time to the music.

Kiersey opens the door to allow to allow the new neighbor inside. "Come on in," the teen said, taking a couple boxes off his hands and motioning the guy to follow her into the house.

"Thanks"

Drummer, now with his load lightened, follows Kiersey without struggle. He steps over the threshold, without tripping even, and follows behind her.

"Hope you guys like Carrot Cake." He says. "Cause the misses thought it would be oh so swell to give everyone carrot cake the first time you meet us."

"Carrot cake, eh? My favorite!"

Kiersey led him through the foyer which featured a curved staircase with wrought-iron banisters and a crystal chandelier. The flooring, as with much of the first level, was a dark-washed wood, and the walls were a light earth tone with a matte finish.

Through the archway, they were greeted by the family room and adjacent open cuisine. The family room was furnished with a pristine white sectional sofa with a leather ottoman/coffee table thing, both of which Amanda selected from WestElm. Antique-looking lamps sat upon black Parsons endtables at either end of the sofa, and a brown La-Z-Boy recliner sat on the closer end of the room angled towards the flatscreen television that hung over the fireplace.

The cuisine was outfitted with cherrywood cabinetry, granite counter tops, and a ceramic tile backsplash. Brushed aluminum Kenmore Elite appliances had the run of the place, while scarcely used counter top appliances at looking more like a part of the decor rather than actual usage items. Kiersey couldn't remember the last time the food processor was used, though the Keurig coffee brewing system underwent regular use.

Placing the boxes atop the kitchen bar, Kiersey was about to make a formal introduction, when she stopped. She heard faint music. Curious, she went to the back door past the breakfast nook and opened it to peer outside.

"...Is someone playing a violin?"

Stepping into the kitchen, Drummer casts an appreciative glance at the decor. The house certainly is fancy, it was unfortunate that Calliope was to busy fingering the strings to introduce herself to the neighbors.

Speaking of which...

"Yes, sorry her. Its a Tradition she wont let go of." And the boxes went on the counter, leaving Drummer to stretch his shoulders out right quick. "Every time we buy a new house she has to christen it with a private rooftop concert to herself." He steps next to Kiersey and points to the roof of his house, where Calliope has begun bobbing her body to whatever song she had chosen next.

"Thats my wife, Clio Calliope. My name is Drummer. We are your new across the alley neighbors."

"Oh." Kiersey said, not sure what to say about her... Weird new neighbor. There has been some interesting people popping up lately. Turning around to face Drummer, she introduced herself. "I'm Kiersey," she did an impromptu curtsey, "nice to see some new faces around here."

Amanda picked up a lemon pepper rotisserie chicken and placed it in the shopping cart. If she picked up a thing of dinner rolls and two sides, they'd be half off. That would solve tonight's dinner dilemma.

"Sweetheart, can you go pick up some compactor bags?" Amanda said to her husband.

"I'm on it," Joe said, leaving to carry out the request.

Drummer laughs. "You honestly have no idea." With that he pretends to take off a hat and bows, swinging his right arm over his chest as he lowers his hand.

Kiersey laughed. She liked this guy. "So, you got the house behind ours, huh? We actually almost bought that one when my parents were househunting about a month ago. It was the same floor plan as this one, but my mom liked how this one looked better."

"Did you? Well, Calliope did the house hunting, truth be told i'm not much for the real estate business" Drummer rubs the back of his head. "I would live out of a hotel room if it wouldn't Drive Cally to murder."

After finishing his homework, Aaron descended the stairs and went into the kitchen. He stopped, finding an unfamiliar person in his home. Kiersey was talking to the stranger, then stopped to notice her younger brother enter the room.

"Hey, Aaron. This is Drummer, our new neighbor," Kiersey said, doing these weird and complex hand gestures as she vocalized.

Aaron also did the hand gestures, opting to mouth his words, as he asked a question to his sister.

"They're grocery shopping," she spoke as she signed to him.

Drummer, with enough tact not to try an vocalize anything first, bows his head and smiles in the universal hello.

"Grocery shopping?" Drummer asks as he selects a single cake from the pile and stacks the rest up for his next journey.
