![]() Jamie Bamber | Chissified by Kura Name: Terath'ras'kerran Homeworld: Csilla Nickname/Alias: Thrask (Core Name), Nexu (Callsign) Date of Birth: 36 ABY (28 years old) Faction: Empire of the Hand (Chiss Ascendancy) Rank: Lieutenant of the Red Platoon, Zerek Company, 10th Battalion, 8th Regiment, 501st Legion. Commands Red Platoon, consisting of Unit Zerek - Five through Eight. Species: Chiss Height: 6' 1" Weight: 165 lbs Hair Color: Black Skin Color: Blue Appearance: To non-Chiss, Thrask's most prominent features are his jet black hair and his red eyes that are a racial feature of the Chiss species. However, that is of course common among his people and so he thinks nothing of his blue skin, nor his eyes compared to other creatures. His jet black hair is kept cut short, and he generally styles it with a slight spike to it which allows it to remain within military regulations but have enough individuality to make him look somewhat different than most other Chiss in terms of style. Thrask's cheekbones are set up midway to high on his face, and are pronounced enough to be defined on his face. He tends to spend a few days between shaving so he alternates between clean shaven and a slight layer of stubble. Typically in terms of clothing, Thrask is seen in a military uniform. This consists of a dark blue double breasted coat on top of dark blue slacks, with an insignia delineating the rank he is currently occupying. When off duty on the ship, he often times can be seen wearing a simple pair of pants with a tank top. This is when he is at his most comfortable, and will likely look it. When on shore leave, he can be seen either in his usual uniform or in civilian clothing depending on the situation and where he finds himself in. His civilian clothing of course depends entirely on the situation as well. Personality: Thrask is a strange being for a Chiss. He chooses not to judge people based off of their race, rather he gives everyone a fair chance before he makes a judgement about them. While he would never apologize for being a Chiss, he does not view their xenophobia and superiority as a favorable attribute. All species have their strengths and weaknesses to Thrask, and it should be recognized that the Chiss are no different. To prove this, Thrask will often point towards the Chiss Clawcraft, which was a good machine to begin with, but became exponentially better once Human Imperial designs were introduced to the cockpit. The strength, he would argue, came not because of the Chiss or the Imperial design by their selves, but because both were used to complement the other and that the weakness of one was nullified by the strength of the other. He believes that the Chiss can only benefit by experiencing the Galaxy, and the multitude of species out there. After using his Clawcraft anecdote, Thrask would probably point out that it was the Empire of the Hand's existence that brought that marvel to the Chiss Ascendancy. And that is a key part of Thrask's personality, his loyalty to the Empire of the Hand. He fully believes in the philosophies that the Empire of the Hand was founded on. Thrawn was a visionary, Thrask believes, and he was correct in believing that the Unknown Regions could not survive the constant raids of threats like the Vagaari without striking them before they were struck, or even stranger, more dangerous unknown threats. Thrask has retained the idea, that his mission as an Empire of the Hand naval officer is to seek out and eliminate threats to the safety of the Empire before they can develop into something more. Thrask has expanded that idea to include not just the Empire, but the whole of the Unknown Regions if possible. In this, he is an idealist compared to some of the more pragmatic officers in the Navy, mostly because he has not had the full life experiences needed to harden him against the Galaxy. This idealism permeates the way he looks at other things as well. In his view of the Empire, he sees not the authoritarian regime that others in the main galaxy would see when they think of an Empire. He sees a meritocracy, where those with ability and talent rule over those of lesser ability and talent. Men in the Empire of the Hand do not advance in power or rank based off of familial ties, they advance based off of deeds and accomplishments. In the Ascendancy, Thrask vaguely remembers from childhood, only certain families actually were able to decide the policy and direction of the Chiss. In the Empire, there were Chiss who had never been a part of the noble houses, who were leading sectors and even the faction as Generals, Admirals and Moffs. It was based off their deeds, and this was what made Thrask such a staunch supporter of the Empire in his early life. This does not mean he is naive and believes the Empire to be perfect, however it is the closest thing to perfection that he has experienced, and he believes it is worth the effort to make it better. As a leader, Thrask is a man who follows the letter of regulation as far as it is useful. He believes that uniform regulation breeds unity in the unit. However, once regulation steps in the way of eliminating a threat or steps in the way of efficiency, Thrask does little to enforce it. When he knows the officers are looking over his Platoon, he'll enforce those regulations but otherwise he will ignore them if possible. To his men he is professional, giving them orders and trying to keep them at a distance. He does however look over them as a second family and wants nothing more than to keep them safe through each battle. Like all Chiss his value system has a firm root in the idea of being loyal to one's family, and as the imposition of the family structure has been made onto his Platoon, he has gained a loyalty to them that would be the equivalent of a mainstream Chiss to their House. Weaknesses and Strengths: Strength: - Idealist: Makes him think that the best outcome of any given situation is possible, and therefore he strives to achieve that ideal. - Staunch Imperial Loyalist: Believes wholly in the Imperial creed of Defense before the fact. Unshakably loyal, he has a philosophy and ideology that keeps him anchored with a strong core of conviction. - Sharpshooter: An expert with a Charric Rifle, Thrask has been labeled a sharpshooter among the Imperial soldiers. - Close Quarters Combat: Been taught self-defense when unarmed. Weakness: - Idealist: Leads to easy disappointment when the ideal situation is not met. In some situations if you can prove the ideal is untrue, Thrask would be crippled by the destruction of his ideal world. - Untraveled: Not very experienced when it comes to other cultures, easily slights them unintentionally. - Melee combatant: Using weapons such as swords and the like. - Guilt: His former life in a Household Phalanx left a bad taste in Thrask's mouth, and he still holds the guilt of those he killed while in service of the Chaf family. Equipment - Charric Rifle - YV-666 Light Freighter - Comlink - Various explosives History: Thrask was born to the Terath family of the Chiss Ascendancy. His family was not a prestigious one, and was in fact quite poor. This did not lead to a great life for the young Chiss, but his parents did for him what they could. They served as servants to the Chaf family, for much of Thrask's young life. His father had been a gambling man in his earlier days and owed to the Chaf's a great debt that he was forced to pay off to the Chaf through extended working. The Chaf's treated them well enough, but Thrask was always kept at a distance from the noble children so that he would not contaminate their heads with thoughts unbecoming a noble house. If pressed, Thrask would say his negative views of the Ascendancy began here. The Terath's persisted in this venture, trying to repay their debts and to one day be free themselves. That day came when Thrask was 10, his fathers debts were paid off and the Terath family was free to go. However, the Chaf's invited the Teraths to stay among their retinue of extended family, and Thrask's father would become a member of the Chafs Household Phalanx. Thrask never remembered seeing his father so proud, never remembered seeing him walk so tall. If only they had known then, what Thrask knew now, that the Chafs had only invited them to stay to take part in one of the wars for dominance as the Fifth seat of power that the Chafs often took part in. Thrask at that point was considered to be a young adult, holding the physicality and emotional level of a 20 year old human. He began training to a position within the Household Phalanx besides his father. Two years later, when Thrask was twelve, he was taking part in full combat simulations. This was the year that a dispute over a colony erupted between the Chaf and another lesser family. The Chaf secretly ordered the Teraths to strike at the rival family first, to overwhelm them and take over their colonies quickly. It was thought that if the Chaf dealt with them quickly and cleanly, the rest of the Ascendancy would not take notice or if they did, would not care. The Teraths struck quickly, obliterating anyone in their path, even children were not safe. Thrask, tried his best to keep from taking part in the slaughter, but he was ordered to strike a household by his commanding officer. He did so, however he could not bring himself to kill the children of that house, and so he hid them away. No one could order the 12 year old Chiss to do that, even if they considered him to be an adult. However, it was these children who reported to the authorities what they saw. Knowing that the Chaf would be in a hard way if the full might of the ruling families found about their involvement they sold Thrask's family down the river. Thrask's whole family was sentenced to execution, and it was only through the intervention of an Imperial diplomat that Thrask wasn't killed. Who knows what the man saw in Thrask, but he saw something. The day after Thrask's father was executed it was Thrask's turn. He was headed to the execution block, when the executioner was stopped by a call from the Aristocra. Thrask was then released into the custody of the Empire of the Hand. Grateful for the man saving his life, Thrask was introduced to Moff Scerra, a Chiss diplomat who had risen through the ranks to the position he now occupied. Thrask continued to feel guilty for the death of his family, and told Scerra as much. Scerra understood, but he knew that Thrask was bound for greater things than the Ascendancy, a look in his eyes, Scerra said. Never having been religious or superstitious, Thrask thought the man was crazy. But never one to leave a debt unpaid, Thrask left with the man for the Empire. Once there, Scerra submitted the young Chiss to the Stormtroopers and put him through training. Thrask took to the training quickly, although for recruits so young the Stormtroopers made it a point to separate them from the human recruits. He spent the first two years in the Hand training as a Stormtrooper, and then another 4 years to train as an officer. Graduating at 18, he was leading men in his squad who were often older than he was. However, his efficiency and his record made it apparent that he was qualified for his position. He spoke war, like other people spoke normal language, or so Thrask's commanding officer was heard to say often. The successes of his squad soon had the young officer being promoted at the age of 22 to the rank of Lieutenant. He has held this rank since that moment. However, he has not been passed up for promotion because he became inadequate, the standards were just raised. In his 24th year, his efficiency was noted and he was assigned to the elite 501st Legion, however that commission and assignment required a whole new set of skills to be expected. This required rigorous training and testing, and he would spend almost a year doing this. By midway through his 25th year, Thrask was firmly in the 501st. Edited by Ramis, Apr 27 2012, 08:46:21 PM.
