This is going to seem stupid coming from someone who has not posted on this board most of the time, lurks in corners and occasionally posts a character he doesn't use, but I think it might help people. Why aren't you posting? Basically, I thought if everyone answered this question, you might see that someone else is just looking for something to do as much as you are. Some people are busy - a lot, with it being exam season and summer starting up - but still, I think people might find other people who keep logging on and not knowing what to do after reading the one or two posts that are added to the 'Sith direction' thread every day. Hell, I'll answer the question myself: My new character hasn't been approved yet and there's not much Jedi activity on the board at the moment. I want to make a Sith but as far as I'm concerned the site is too focused on the Sith OOC at the moment. |

I'm personally recharging my star wars writing batteries and enjoying some videogames. Otherwise, I am waiting on Sammi, Rev, Solice, Kiani, and Vallyn to post, or in vallyn's case, finish a character so I can begin a new series of plots for Veko and her new character. So that's why I'm not posting atm, and I'm trying to regain my SW/Sci-Fi writing urge/interest/motivation. That and it is the end of the school year and I've been running errands, moving boxes, and volunteering in classrooms so as to get experience and earn brownie points with the school districts before my student teaching, which I've always been fighting the education department about for the past few months. So that's why I'm not here, and I'll get to work as soon as motivation strikes or people post for me. |

Exams have just finished, so I'm in wind-down mode from those. Playing Mass Effect through again, since I've become bored of SWTOR and cancelled my subscription. Aside from that, just waiting on decisions to be made OOC concerning the Sith and Federation, and an IC post from someone else in the Dark Convocation. |

Well, to be honest, I haven't been doing much lately outside of home. I'm off school, I need to search for a job, but in the meantime I still been active out of the house during the week (went to volunteer at a library, went to drop off a volunteer sheet, went to get a library card, brought in some groceries for my mother, went to the zoo, and other fun things that I don't normally talk about), so I'm not some couch-potato that's been sitting around playing video games, though I have played a lot of Battlefront 2. I'd love to make more characters, but in the military case, my thing is making experienced, advisory type of military characters (namely staff NCOs and Warrant Officers) that help guide officers and enlisted personnel alike. To do this, I like them to have units and characters that they interact with to help me narrow down the specific specialty of the character so that they are useful, instead of making a "sanitation engineer" as a few people on this board have joked. Sadly there are few officers to really make a character for, and those that do exist rove around so much it's hard to understand exactly what their job is. At any rate, I have two Fed characters that have decades of experience and should be able to do most jobs without much of a problem (I'm trying to find that narrow balance between a Harry, or in two of my characters' cases, a Hairy Sue that can do everything, and a jack-of-all-trades that's actually useful in more than one specific, overcomplicated job). I have no interest in making a Sith (Karna as a Gray Jedi is enough for me). I don't think I'd be interested in playing a Chiss-Chiss, maybe a member of a lesser known species in the Unknown Regions that joined the Chiss. I've been considering the Empire of the Hand, but without a clear understanding of Thrask's role in the 501st (yes I know, he's a platoon leader, but of what? Should I assume a standard line platoon?) and what direction Ramis wants to take that in (seemingly he wants to distinguish/separate it from the Ascendency rather than merging them together, which I've been advocating), I'm afraid to get involved there. Oh, and I hate the indies and I want them all to burn in hell; half (very rough estimate) of them are either Fed citizens anyways. ------- So I have several active topics going. I have that thread that I started between Haken and Karna a while back; Eric still has interest in it. There's Destroying a Slave Op, which I hope Auron will post in soon, and afterward we'll expand that topic to give some Jedi/Feds something to do. Then there's that personal transmissions thread that I have between Ace and Brotz; the actual Outer Rim thread I'm leaving open for whatever Mandos are interested in interacting with a Jedi - still waiting to see if Naraga is interested (I didn't want it to seem like my character would automatically be available, and I know Mando members are hard-pressed for things to do). My thread tracker lists a lot more topics that haven't been archived, but I know are pretty much lost causes (the Wretched, Vanguard Observation Deck, Old Wounds, etc.). For future topics, Brotz as Mand'alor is going to play a integral role in Vershyi's hotspot. I have also volunteered all my characters in some capacity for Federation preliminary debates for CoS. I'd love to enter more threads, especially while I still have a flexible schedule and low-stress level, but I feel that just fighting NPC mooks will get boring pretty fast. I have no problem with topics sitting and talking as opposed to action, because I like the action to be meaningful. If I felt others would be interested in joining an open topic where my characters perform their various extracurricular hobbies, I'd certainly make one. Karna can certainly teach advanced students in his native martial arts, but I imagine fruit gardening, pottery, and calligraphy are his prime enjoyments at this time. Felix likes literature; something I'd like to explore. Tarkyysh has his own little forest growing in his crew-quarters, he's an avid jungle/mountain adventurer, and he likes wood-working too (carving people presents as a token of affection). I haven't really thought about Brotz's hobbies much, perhaps a sign that he's somewhat of a workaholic, and someone that enjoys building and fixing a wide range of devices and implements - he's one of those people that gets a thrill out of helping other people, I'd say. I imagine some of you are probably reading that it sounds as boring as fuck. The deal is that I love to write about the challenges of military training, organization, logistics, etc. and putting it all together for a successful operation, but I know pointless violence ranks high among many members. For alternatives, I said it to Poe, but I'll say it again, my characters are not romantics. If my characters forge interpersonal relationships, I'd it to be with people in their line of work, forming a tightly-knit brotherhood. It's just my personality there, that I don't like strangers, but I can be quite loyal and devoted to people I know, so it's no coincidence that I play a Noghri and a Wookiee, who have that as an all-around species trait. I'm a reactive writer (if that's the proper term for it), and I like to be able to reflect off what other people write, evaluate it, paraphrase it, and ultimately solve problems stated by it. I'm not necessarily the most creative or imaginative person out there, but once you give me a descriptive setting and a clearly-defined goal, it's not so hard. I just don't start a lot of threads, and I'd be lost if asked to do a long solo thread, namely because I don't see the purpose in writing with myself in my open-ended imagination with endless possibilities. Perhaps it's because I got a science-math brain that judges there's one correct answer for every problem, and there's WAY too many variables if someone doesn't outline some of them for me. That's my problem. I like the characters I've made, and I want to RP, but I realize I'm not going to be the driving force behind this RP. I'm a supporting role. I think of how the world is, not how it could be. It takes a brilliant, abstract inventive mind to create something completely from scratch, but I know at least a few members here have been able to form amazing plots out of the blue. Perhaps not recently; we're all sort of washed-up here, but every once in a while our inner child has a good idea. Perhaps it's not our failure to draft such plots, but the ability to implement them. Perhaps we need a step-by-step process of what needs to be done before said plot can come into play, like the slavery plot. Well, we need characters representing slave-holding states, otherwise the Feds-Jedi are just going to curb-stomp them. What sort of characters could we make? We should bounce ideas off each other and brainstorm together. For one, I think a Hutt clan leader would help, but most Hutts have way too much power to really approve off the get-go without serious thought. Possibly a high-ranking servant of the Hutts. Perhaps not even the Hutts at all. That's just an example, but it makes you sit down and think, what does this board need? What do I want to gain from RPing here? Why did I start RPing and why do I feel motivated to continue? I imagine everyone is going to find some sort of mind-boggling revelation, not about themselves, but about each other, so we won't all feel so lonely and misunderstood. |

Note: I do not care about the order of posting. If you are waiting for me to post, I might be waiting for you. Also, if you want me to do something, please tell me - I don't always catch enough hints to take the initiative to ask what you want. If you don't tell me what to do, I'll tell you what to do. | |

I'm always up for threads, with my Twi'Lek Mando and my Human Fed Spook. I'm always searching for stuff to put them in. I might be making another Twi'lek soon, though the direction I want her to take is unknown. (Since I don't think someone else will make the sister to my Twi'lek. ) I am laid back, so much so that I usually fall out of the loop with things and plot arcs. After reading Brotz' post I was informed of a lot. Like him being Mand'alor for example. Didn't know that little tidbit. I have an idea! Active typing for the win. The Twi'lek I've been plotting on could be the high slave trade accessory, gives shocking twist to my main, and contributes to the board. Fail idea, but at least it's something. |

Well, in the only other topic I have going, I've been waiting. But I've grown tired of that so I am saying screw it and moving the topic along myself now. I didn't put the thought into the plot to let it sit and do nothing. Ghost and I have a little thing going, but that's still a work in progress as we are in between topics right now. And this also reminds me that I need to finish up my senator character and then get him posted for action in the RP. |

As far as myself is concerned. I really haven't had the time, because of RL stuff I have been handling so I really can't move stuff along as much as I would like too. But that's my excuse. As far as coming up with stuff. That's the easy part in my opinion because most plots, once implemented, take on a mind of their own and travel down their own path (in which the way points are the only real aspects left over). But thats my opinion and whats going on with me. |

Busy: - Supanova Comic Convention in less than 3 weeks (printing trades and issues, coding website, stickers, business cards) and I have two comics and all their respective prints, trades and issues as well as accessory paraphanalia to get ready to sell in the floor store. Independent publishing is so bleh. - I work 45 hours a week as a Postgraduate. Including a conference seminar to mark and a paper to write prior. - I've had 150 2000 word essay to mark over the last two weeks. - I have gym, students to privately tutor, sick mother and a bunch of other things. - I also have a life. I like to get out and socialise for my sanity. - I also have SWL, especially staff stuff. I am a busy little munchkin, and posts are generally the first thing that gets bumped back. I try to remain active despite all this, but at times my life gets a bit too hectic for this, such as now. |
