Name: Makk'ren'namzeka
Homeworld: Sarvchi
Nickname: Krenn
Birth Year: 48 ABY

Faction: Chiss Ascendency (Empire of the Hand)
Rank: Private 1st class; Storm Trooper Corp

species: Chiss
Height: 1.8 meters/ 6' 2"
Weight: 175
Hair Color: Black
Skin Color: Blue

Appearance:
Like all Chiss, Krenn has blue skin and red eyes that become more so depending on the level of oxygen in an atmosphere. His face has a stern look to it that makes him seem colder than most would think him to be. Krenn stands at about average height for a chiss and also has the muscular build distinctive to his people. He keeps his hair cut short to allow himself to be quick in the mornings when setting his appearance rather than fussing over a few stray strands of hair. He keeps his face clean shaven when he's on garrison duty or any place with enough time to do so. Often when on active duty or when working in a hot zone he will forgo shaving until the assignment is complete, joking that his beard is a 'mark of his assignment.'

When not in his armor Krenn favors a simple T-Shirt and comfortable pants. He makes sure that when not on deployment his clothes are as immaculate as his hair, unless he is spending his free time on a makeshift obstacle course or running across a ground where mud and muck is a common occurrence. In which case he will let the mud and muck accumulate on his clothes, but try to keep it off his skin as much as possible. This extends to his armor when he is on ship deployment, making sure its kept as polished and ready as possible, keeping the dents and scorch marks off when he can. Since Krenn is one of the best he reasons that everything about him should look his best whenever possible.

Personality:

Growing up in the ascendency Krenn believes that a strong hand is needed to keep the outer regions of the galaxy in check. To him the Empire of the hand is the symbol of this strength and as a result his loyalty to the empire is more than it is to the ascendency. He sees the Ascendency as stuck in the past, unwilling or unable to do what is necessary to keep order within the Galaxy. His frustration stems from a belief that the Doctrine of waiting for war to reach them will end up being their undoing one day, and Krenn refuses to let his people die because of old rules that no longer apply.

While he grew up in the Ascendency, the training and mental conditioning of the Stormtrooper Corp made Krenn begin to realize that race has nothing to do with achievement. As a result the xenophobia and superiority that are common in most chiss do not extend to those who serve with Krenn in the stormtroopers. Anyone who is capable of passing through the rigorous training and becoming one of the best deserves the same respect that Krenn would expect to be shown to him. This belief in equality does not extend beyond the stormtrooper corp though, and often times he can be heard with disparaging and sometimes downright insulting remarks for the other branches of the Imperial military.

Krenn is a very detail oriented person, and whenever possible likes to have things planned for throughout the day, if not the week. This has translated well into military lifestyle where most of the day is laid out ahead of him. Krenn knows what is expected of him, where he is to be, and what he will be doing during that time. When on shore leave or during longer periods of liberty than normal he has a tendency to become restless and a little more edgy than normal. Most of the time he is able to find a place to hide from the rest of his squad so he isn't bothering anyone during this, but there have been a few incidents where another soldier found him and was on the receiving end of his foul mood.

Weaknesses and Strengths:

Strength: Krenn has a quick mind on tactical matters, able to analyze a situation and react quickly to whatever threat is comnig. While unable to act any faster than the information he is given Krenn is able to analyze and come up with a solution to most problems before it becomes an issue for his squadron. He isn't hasty about acting and if time permits will seek permission to act from his commanding officer. This quick thinking allowed him in exercises during training to react faster than some of the other storm trooper candidates to stop flanking attacks or fight his way out of an enemy ambush.

Weaknesses: When it comes to working outside of mission parameters Krenn can be very inflexible. The belief for the need of order in the galaxy combined with the training and discipline he's known all his life means that any unforeseen or unplanned for event in the day to day of things will make him a little edgy. Serving in the CEDF and later the Stormtrooper Corp has taught him that anything can happen on a mission and he can control his emotions well enough. However little things like the ship he's traveling on making an unscheduled stop or an informal change to a posting can make him unjustifiably annoyed, bringing out his xenophobia.

History:

Krenn was the youngest child born to two members of the Colonial Phalanx of Sarvchi. Both his father and mother were firm believers that the Ascendency was responsible for imposing order on the Galaxy that the so called “Federation of free Alliances” was unable or unwilling to do. They instilled this belief in the need for order and a strong hand into each of their four children. As a result of these beliefs all of their children grew up with a desire to serve the Ascendency in one way or another. Krenn’s brother and one of his sisters grew up to enlist in the CEDF and the Colonial Phalanx respectively, with his other sister going to serve in the foreign affairs department as an assistant to a diplomat of a foreign world on the edge of Chiss space.

Krenn’s childhood was much like that of his older brother, instead of playing with other children his free time was spent at the firing range with his father. At a very young age Krenn learned how to fire, maintain, and make basic repairs to a blaster rifle. In addition to his normal school work his father would also attempt to teach Krenn about the civic and cultural “superiority” of the Chiss. Unfortunately in attempting to teach Krenn about the Non-Aggression Law led to a split between Krenn and the rest of his family. Instead of blindly obeying like his father would of expected, Krenn began to question what his father saw as the infallible wisdom behind the Non-Aggression Law, even going so far as to call it “A stupid declaration that limited the ascendency’s ability to defend itself.” This tiny split eventually formed a rift between Krenn and his family later in his life when Krenn learned of the Empire of the Hand.

Before he turned seven Krenn had never heard anything about Chiss outside the Ascendency, and when he heard about an empire that was run without the Non-Aggression Law but that tried to impose order upon space that the Federation of Free Alliances was lacking. He started doing research on the "Empire of the Hand" and its leader. He saw their lack of a Non-Aggression Law as a means of better defense, and their desire to instill order upon the galaxy was something that he could admire. It wasn't the same thing that stuck the Ascendency in the past, and in Krenn's eyes prevented it from defending its people properly. Unfortunately his interest in the Empire of the Hand and its beliefs were not supported by his family. Krenn's father hadn't yet given up on his son serving in either a colonial phalanx or as part of the CEDF. As Krenn got older he eventually forgot about the Empire of the hand and resigned himself to life as part of the Ascendency, bound by the Non-Aggression Law.

After turning Ten Krenn decided to enlist with the CEDF, colony life being to boring for the young Chiss. He was recruited and served as a marine on board ships as security and on very rare occasions as part of a ground team to investigate something that didn't seem right. Most of the time when getting ready to deploy ground side the problem would be fixed. Krenn served for four years as a member of the CEDF, though he always felt like he was stuck playing security instead of doing something to actually help defend against the threats that existed in the unknown region. While Krenn felt like he wasn't able to do anything to make the regions safer he tried to have faith in the fact that the region had been kept relatively safe from threats. He was content in his roll for a while, until one day when the Empire of the Hand came back into his mind.

One day while out on a patrol ship near the edge of Chiss space Krenn heard a report of a trade ship getting jumped by pirates, while this wasn't that unusual the ship had been loaded with medical supplies destined for a Chiss mining outpost. When he voiced his concern to a superior officer he was informed there was nothing they could do about it. Despite the fact that the ship had been meant for their people and many would die without the medical supplies the Non-Aggression Law prohibited intervention by them. This was something that reminded Krenn of his childhood concerns, and it brought a dark mood to the fourteen year old Chiss.

Three weeks later the ship sailed into the outpost, with a report that they had escaped from the pirates with help from the Empire of the Hand, despite that the trade route didn't quite pass through their territory. When Krenn heard the report of what they had done he knew that he'd been in the wrong fleet. While the CEDF was good for defending its own region of space it only cared about what happened in its own region, not the whole of the Galaxy. The reaction of the ship captain to the attack by the pirates proved to Krenn that the Ascendency was unable to defend itself as well as it should be able to, it would eventually die under its current rules. Later that year Krenn said his goodbyes to his family and friends and headed out to the Nirauan sector to join with the Empire of the Hand.

Upon arriving in Imperial Space Krenn discovered that things were run very differently from within the Ascendency, with the most powerful and symbolic force of order being the Stormtrooper Corp. Krenn enlisted with them as soon as he found a recruiting station and was shipped off to boot camp. His training within the CEDF meant that many of the basic concepts were easy to grasp, including weapon maintenance, the importance of teamwork, and the need for order in the Galaxy. Other aspects were a little harder for him to grasp, including the idea of swearing loyalty to a man instead of a people. Despite his trouble initially, the Chiss ideas and those of the Empire of the Hand soon began to merge and by the time Krenn graduated from basic he was one of the best trooper candidates they had. His Zeal for the cause of the Empire of the Hand and his prior combat experience made him an excellent candidate for service within the 501st.
