The scum of the universe, the plight of space, these would be but a few descriptions placed on people such as those in the Korunnai’s company. Achilar was seen as a barbarian even to some of these hardcore criminals, his actions often seen as brutal and violent. Not only that but the way he portrayed himself painted a rather dim-witted and short sighted brute. Despite that as time moved on he was placed as the boarding team leader, he was truly the best to keep all of them in line. The leader of the boarding team however stood out from the rest of the others, especially since he didn’t drink or wasted his time trading words with others. He wasn’t just respected, he was feared by the others, even the Captain often opted to avoid an open confrontation with the man. Achilar wasn’t known for having a cool temper, quite the opposite. At most he spoke when it was absolutely vital he did, he didn’t even like Basic but could speak it rather well. Even then he would refrain from using a wide vocabulary and chose to be very rudimentary about it as it granted him the aura of not being too bright. By now most who had dealt with him over the years knew this wasn’t the case but they didn’t speak of it, at least not in front of him. The first and only time anyone ever spoke to him to mock him suffered a cruel fate. The necklace he wore with the alien’s tongue on his neck clearly drew the line for the others. Their Captain Nixus had warned him of what was to transpire in their new venture. Apparently they were to meet a man who could help them advance their ships, upgrade and repair them somehow. The details didn’t matter to the Korunnai, he understood the need for such things but he did not care about it. Fact of the matter was simple, he wanted out of this group one way or the other. The senseless killing and destruction had become too mundane, his evolution as a warrior had stalled. There was nothing more to gain from this partnership, Achilar needed out somehow, he just needed to figure it out. With his mind made up he still agreed to participate in this negotiation, once completed the arrangement was for him to be escorted to Nar Shaddaa. Standing on a hangar bay of the shipyards of Arden La Croix, in orbit of N’zoth, the Korunnai looked with disgust at all of that technology. Achilar didn’t understand much about such things, some of them being alien and absurd concepts. The ship held about twenty of his comrades, alas only five of them were on the outside. Nixus, the ship Captain was at the front of the party, with Metreck close by to his left. Nixus was known for his savagery, his ruthlessness and stubbornness. “Where’s that creep?! I’m tired of waiting, damn it!” Nixus retorted with very little patience in his tone of voice. The Korunnai just glanced at him for a moment, before his gaze was adjusted to his surroundings once more. He never did like his captain after all. |

Arden had been quite busy lately trying to secure more supplies for his shipyards, well they weren’t really his shipyards at the moment he was leasing them from the main company for quite a bit of credits. He still had his doubts about things though and was not sure how well they would work out for him in the long run. His security had been constantly escorting him since they had heard about beings snooping around on his property and of course at the shipyards as well, was it all connected? He did not know, he needed to find out though of course. That would be interesting though for him to find someone to be sneaking around in his home. He had not experimented on anyone in quite a while. And in his own mind he was one sick freak when it come to doing that, but it was something that he had at one point quite honestly liked to do. Though it was obviously illegal and well clearly murder as well since most of them died because of him and his operations. Well then, he could clearly be racking up the sentences in at least twelve systems at this point. He had been working on things for a while now, for a new smaller ship that would be of use if it were to fall into criminal hands. The man was not legit in all aspects, he had a legit façade about him but that was about it. Other then that he had never tried to maintain that other wise. He was too busy trying to make credits anyway that he could. Of course this new ship also would have some expensive technology on it and would also have quite a few other things on it that would make it of use. However, it was not yet ready to go to market in the aspect that most of it they had not yet worked out some of the kinks in the systems. After all, he had gotten a report yesterday saying that one of the circuits had gotten fried right after they installed it. Finally he had arrived and was now going to meet with some potential buyers. It was the only way to make a true profit, and that was to sell to everyone who was willing to buy from him. |

The human creature was now pacing slightly around, a fury residing in his eyes, a clear sign of his impatience. One could hear mumbles coming from him, disgruntled ones at that. Achilar could discern some of the words escaping the man’s lips, but his face never changed. Sometimes the facial expression from Metreck felt as if it was pure stone, unchanging, unwavering and unrelenting in its scowl. That hangar bay sure was loud, machines were being repaired and retrofitted, people were talking out loud as if there was no tomorrow. It suited the Korunnai just fine, over time he had grown used to such things, especially given the location of his cabin aboard their ship. It was there that he envisioned his home planet, that he reminisced and smiled over his past adventures. Even if most of his memories held misery and death, they were still home to him. He surely played his role to perfection, instilling respect but most importantly fear from his comrades. That simply wasn’t enough, the dark coloured man thought that he deserved so much more than that. One of the other pirates tapped another on the shoulder, breaking Metreck’s concentration on his thoughts. His pitch black eyes looked them both over, his dark cold gaze being reflected with dread on the pirates own. “Ya want to lose the arm?” the threatening Korunnai spoke without a hint of restraint. A gulp was all he needed for a response. The captain watched this little interaction with great interest, as it provided him with a distraction to the waiting. There was a twitch in his face as things died down, Nixus just wanted to get this over with. This whole waiting game was making him jumpy, anxious and odd looking. It was as Metreck examined him more attentively that he remembered talks among the crew about their captain. Some people said that Nixus was consuming some of the illegal products they themselves tried to make a profit of. Those shakes in his hands surely would be explained by such an event. Did he need to get another dose? Was that the only reason of his urgency? Achilar’s eyes opened wide with disgust and realization. “Why the fuck are you shaking, boss?” the Korunnai spoke this time without any sort of accent, instead a clean cut Basic that anyone could easily understand. There was nothing that he hated more than substance abusers, people who allowed such obscenities to cloud their judgment. Nixus was shocked, that much was certain from the look on his face. “That’s none of your business! We have a deal, now stick with it!” the captain spoke assertively after a few seconds of confusion, a vacant look on his eyes. The first thing that Metreck wanted to do was to shove his blade down the throat of the trembling man. Alas, he would not, not at this particular time anyway. “You come to a negotiation looking like that?! Like a drug user?! Look at your eyes! They look dead! You fucking look dead you scumbag!” the large sentient known as Achilar spoke harshly as he dangerously got closer to his captain. The others just didn’t know what to do in this situation, they had been caught completely off guard. Sure, most of them had an idea that Nixus was doing precisely that, but they would never confront their captain when they themselves weren’t exactly clean. After all, they were bloody pirates. But suddenly an arrival became itself known, as a door slid open close to where they stood. “Shut up now, Achilar...” Nixus pleaded in an almost inaudible whisper to the Korunnai. They couldn’t look weak. Still, that same judgmental and harsh look was present in Metreck’s stare to his captain. Anyone could see that something was going on, not all was well in pirates paradise. |
