Raising a well shaped eyebrow Mina looked at Rovnak. She hoped that he was not serious in the slightest. Not that what he was wearing was bad, from a purely appreciative point of view she could admire the way a man in uniform looked. Jedi were physically very fit, activity kept them in excellent shape and the entire mysterious vibe hanging off of them – prime daydream, holo-movie and teenage girl crushes. What he was clothed in just would not do for a club like 'Carromo'. He needed to look dangerous—in a none Jedi way. His enquiry into what the club was like made her chuckle. “I have heard that it serves a purpose for both. You do realise that I prefer slightly classier bars-- we will both be venturing out of our normal comfort zones. “ Mina was not quite sure if she should be offended that he thought she had been to such a slum of a bar, or pleased with herself that she knew enough about it. His offer of clothes was intriguing, she was dying to enquire as to why he had feminine clothes in his quarters—the Jedi Order permitted lovers, but unless it was committed then a spouse would never be about. Mina wanted the story behind it. Mina let him led her towards his living area. She was almost disappointed, not that she had any expectations-- it wasn't as if she'd given it much thought but it seemed normal. Other than his bed which was with what she guessed was military precision made, it was a typical room for someone not particularly tidy but not too messy either. The boxed items were small, and tight. Mina was slender, toned and there was not a single inch of fat on her body that was not needed. She wasn't twig-like which was something she suspected the previous owner had been, she was healthy. She narrowed her eyes as she pulled the items from the box one by one. Rovnak watching her. She almost gasped as wisps of what she recognised as underclothes fell. Mirth filled her eyes, she had to know the story. She discarded the underclothes-- no way would she need them, not that she would if she had needed them. A black tank top that Mina suspected would be a very tightfit around her, she winced as she pulled out a short skirt that thankfully wasn't skintight. Who the hell had been the previous owner of these garments? Mina had a excellent shaped body, she knew it and never found it troubling to flaunt it but she also had a certain sense of modesty that many Zeltron didn't have. Her teenage years had been spent in drag tunics and robes-- she wasn't too fussy with her wardrobe. Her boots would do fine with the outfit, although she suspected stiletto heels would've been better. “Right, you go dress yourself into something less Jedi-like and I will-” she broke off, glancing disdainfully at the clothes she selected, would they even fit her? Rovnak even although it was his living space moved and once she had a little privacy she stripped off her jumpsuit and pulled the tanktop on over head. It fit. Although she suspected that she would be drawing a lot of attention that night. It was longer than she had first suspected, it skimmed around her belly button. The skirt which she discovered was in fact a hybrid of shorts and a skirt—something she found herself glad about fit better. That left her with a dilemma. Where would she hide her weapons? “Rovnak!” She called out, he might have to carry her weapons, there was no way that she could conceal anything comfortably if at all. |

Rovnak felt a tingle slither down his spine when he sensed Mina's thoughts about where he had gotten such clothes, something he was not too keen on sharing. it had been one of the times when a woman had been so forward as to strip down right in front of him and ask him to lay with her. It was not exactly his favorite memory, although it did bring back a number of laughs. She had been a good girl, he had saved her from alife of slavery so that she might become a Jedi, and so she had decided to thank him. Peronsally the Grand Master felt he had gotten off lucky, if it had been that Dantari girl things might have played out differently and gotten more physical, not in a good way either. He watched closely all those under his charge, but he wondered just what would become of this situation, especially when the urge to ask her questions became too much to hold in. But he let the thought fade from his mind, instead he focused on his own wardrobe and grabbed a few items he kept around for undercover work. Unfortunately he would have to relieve himself of his usual vest, not because it had any sort of Jedi symbol on it, but because it bore symbols of his family, and he would rather not have Stonehand or his mother targetted because of his actions. His vest stripped off, the master donned the plain black vest, though like the other it had armorweave and a light chainmail hauberk set within it for protection. His Onderon Style kama he turned inside out to hide the insignia set into it, the symbol of the Jedi higher on the kama would be hidden from everyone's view with ease. Unwilling to forego his bracers or boots, the grandmaster ruffled his hair slightly and then put his utiity belts and bandoleer and satchel back on, easily carrying a staff on his back. While it was rather conspicuous at first, he let his weapons show so that he might seem more like a mercenary or a Mandalorian, someone that would fit into the society of a bar such as Corramo. To keep the saber tucked into the end of his staff Hidden, rovnak easily slid the weapon deeper into the shaft and locked the top with an extendable cap. He wouldn't be able to activate his lightsaber, but he would be able to reach it very quickly if it came to a fight. Besides that, he hoped to be using his pistol more than anything. It was time for a change, he thought, in the make and properties of his secondary weapon. It was of strong calliber certainly, but the grand master felt he wanted an older feel, something a little more primitive but highly effective, a mixture of the old and new for maximum survivability and lethality. Swiftly he resecured the weapon after loading a clip full of rubber rounds into the pistol, a precaution just in case some innocent bystander decided to get in his way of saving Mina's father. When she called out to him, the Grand Master rushed to see if something was wrong but paused at the threshold of the restroom to take in the sight. A short tank top, a very short skirt-like garb, he remembered it well on the Twi'lek he had rescued, but to him Mina looked three times as alluring than the young woman he had saved. Quickly he shut those feelings down, this was professional and serious, her father's life was on the line and she had an important topic to bring up. "Can't carry your weapon's huh?" Rovnak asked with a click of his tongue. He wasn't sure carrying weapons openly was the best idea, though her pistol was fine, her lightsaber was a completely separate matter. "I figure having your blaster at hand will be fine, wrap it around like a bandoleer or your hips," rovnak muttered idly as he took the lightsaber and stuffed it into a pocket of the cargo pants he wore. It would be safe and able to charge, of that he was sure of. if anything went wrong, well, they would just have to make things up as hey traversed the depths of coruscant's underworld. "You look good... A-and I'll make sure to keep your saber safe." |

Satisfied that as long as she remained glued to his side she would have access to her lightsaber Mina followed his advice. It took a little awkward arranging to have the blaster at her hip, she double-checked it was on safety before leaving it. The weight of it on her hip was uncomfortable, when compared to the lightness of her lightsaber it was a contrast. The violet eyed Zeltron adjusted the skirt/short combination so the weapon wouldn't rub against against any exposed skin, something there was rather a lot of. Then she surveyed Rovnak, a nod of approval as she examined the outfit he had donned, his ruffled hair added to her approval. He would stand out a little, a tall, attractive human male was bound to-- but in a way that could only benefit them. People might be more willing to take. Smugly she noted they made an attractive pair, something to be used to their advantage at the club. Nobody would find it strange to see a Zeltron attached to a man like Rovnak. Of course she didn't quite like the way people viewed her species, it was insulting to someone like her who was far more than nice body. Mina Devor was a force of nature. Approving of how she appeared, she then went to her hair which she ran her fingers through, leaving it tousled. If she had thought ahead she would have carried cosmetics, but she could easily go without any—thank the force for genetics. Having a plan was helping her. One constant in her mind was the price at stake, yet, in the easy companionship of Rovnak she was able to retain a slightly calmer head. She wasn't try to think like a Jedi, she was trying to be what she knew was logical. She smiled briefly at his compliment. He may be a powerful Jedi, the Grandmaster of the Jedi order but he was a man as well. He may have known her for years, but, she could guarantee he had never seen her dressed like this. He never would again if she had it her way. Mina was perfectly comfortable being a bit more modest, she didn't need to reveal skin to get admiring looks. Taking a breath she returned her focus to the task ahead: did she have any contacts available right now? No, she didn't have any she trusted with something this sensitive. This was personal, she would wait. “You look pretty good yourself...Grandmaster.” Mina winked as she spoke, she suspected that they would need to sneak out. It wouldn't do for the Grandmaster and her to be seen looking so disreputable. “I'm ready to leave. Apartment and then we become patrons of 'Carromo',” she sighed, “next time we head to a club, lets go somewhere classier, eh?” Oh, she honestly didn't feel like joking but this was her getting into character. She had to be a little giddy, she could hardly go solemn faced into a club. “If anything happens to my lightsaber, I'll be upset. It has memories attached to it. I'm trusting you.” She said looking at him seriously, then she sashayed forwards and throwing back over her slim shoulder as she walked away asked, “Coming?” |

A compliment paid, a compliment earned, so it seemed that was the case in this friendship anyways. He didn't mind it though, being called a rather handsome man from someone as naturally good looking as Mina at his age was something to be proud of. While Rovnak was forty, due to the force he likely didn't look a day over thirty, something which had earned him many looks in the past, both pleasant and unpleasant alike. Still, he felt that the very path he walked would not only affect her destiny but his own, as if the force had let him glean all the information he wanted about her future, at the price of a momentarily killer headache, without giving him any hints as to his own future. The Force had a rather ironic sense of humor in Rovnak's mind, as to him he felt that while there was the force, it wasn't just some energy field, that something about it had to have a sense of humor. Otherwise, why would there be ugly beings like hutts? Some higher power at there definitely had to be at work with them, and as he looked over Mina, he definitely knew where that power had put the beauty. Quickly he stopped himself from going further, or rather, he let his thoughts trail in a direction not so linked to Mina. he had never quite seen her dressed this way, and at best he was beginning to feel it was a distraction. On the slave that had worn those clothes before her he hadn't minded, had hardly heeded it at all, but Mina was... well to say the least she was different. The Grandmaster set those thoughts aside for another time however, for now he wanted to focus on the mission, the sense of humor the force seemed to have, and the inordinate amount of luck they might need to make it out of the temple unnoticed and further have his identity unknown at any location they were headed. He was a recently appointed Grand Maste,r only in the last year or so had he accepted the position, and so not many knew his face or his identity. That was goood, it would certainly help him in regards to anonimity when they reached the bar; Carromo. "There's a side passage nearby that leads directly to the hangar, if we hurry we can grab a speeder and be on our way as quickly as possible... suger," Rovnak replied with an added affectionate term to get into part; just as Mina had moments before. "And don't you worry about your lightsaber, I am quite careful and capable with a saber you know." |

Sugar? Mina was disappointed at his creativity. Really, Rovnak? She thought half-amused and half-disappointed at the over used term of endearment. It seemed cheesy, of course this was just all for getting into role-- she just didn't know if the character Rovnak was taking on was how she had imagined his would be. Bad terms of endearment, she almost wrinkled her nose thinking of some of the worst of them, they were pretty bad. Rovnak would never use such a cringe worthy word. Mina realised she had to remember that the point had been thought, right now he wasn't Rovnak Torvalan. He was going to be--. Next point. She didn't know who he was going to be right now. “What cover identity are you going to use? I'll remain as Mina Devor, my connection to the Zeltros Senator isn't well known and even so it would be expected I would be investigating.” She didn't add that this could be all a trap to lure her to. It was unlikely, only those who were over-confident or stupid would kidnap a Senator as a way to lure his daughter into a trap. She had enemies, yes. But she didn't have enemies like this. Nodding at Rovnak she followed him as he led her throw the deserted passage, they walked in silence. It wasn't an awkward silence but comfortable and although she was brimming with things to say, she did not. Her mouth quivered in anticipation. Or fear. She wasn't quite sure if it was one or the other. Her violet eyes focused on Rovnak, following the lines of his body, not letting herself think of anything but him. Her hands were restless, she curled her fingers over and over. Anything to distract herself. It was foolish to pretend otherwise, Mina Devor wasn't fearless. She didn't know what they would be dealing with. All she knew was that the resolution of this disaster was not going to be the happy ending she was kidding herself about. After nearly a decade of constant neglect the force was with her now. Making up for the time she had shunned it, embracing her, greeting its wayward daughter with the warmth and all knowing it possessed. Losing herself in it; let euphoria reign at her being whole once more. It all seemed a better alternative than continue onwards, knowing that failure was a possibility. Now, she longed for the silence to break. Needed it to. Stop! She wanted to scream; doubts, insecurities, leave her now. A woman of thirty, a woman of the world. No longer a scared girl. But still the scared girl remained inside. She couldn't fail another. Not after Khorin; she couldn't fail Father. Mercy, please. Let him be fine, return the last link of her childhood alive to her. Don't allow her to lose her only family. She didn't believe she could bear it. She was not quite so strong. Mina pleaded in her mind, to the force, to a deity-- she did not know. Just to a higher power, she begged. She started when Rovnak placed a hand on her shoulder, shaking her. They had left the Hangar, she had not even taken account of the time that had passed. The concern on his face didn't go amiss, she had been lost in her own thoughts so deeply, it scared her. “We are here,” she breathed looking around as she stepped out of the speeder, Rovnak following her. Easily she led them to the apartment. It was untouched, she winced seeing the vase that had impacted her head, it was in shards. She wondered if Rovnak had noticed her pretence of being fine. She was not. At a low point, one she had not experienced for many years. So sudden had it hit her, she hadn't been prepared. Her lips seemed dry and even when she moistened, it did little. Letting instinct take over she touched the door and she felt it. They entered quickly. There was no fear, no resistance. Her father tried to fight but he was no match for his attackers and was taken down swiftly. The tallest of them, one who reeked of the dark-side, not a sith, or was he? It was difficult to tell. “We now have our lure, now we have to see if the bait will drag in our prey.” His face was handsome, she could see that. Cruel in his bearing as he looked at the others and the still form of the Zeltros Senator. “Now, we go to Carromo.” Mina shivered, she was breathing heavily and if not for the fact she was pink-skinned she would have believed all pigment had drained from her face. “Another force sensitive was involved, one who reeks of the dark side, but I cannot tell much more.” Mina knew now that perhaps she had angered people more powerful than she had ever believed. This was a trap intended for her. It was hardly confirmed but deep inside her she knew. She also knew that if she let Rovnak know he might prevent her from taking part. It wasn't just her father, they wanted her. Why? Ironically, she was not so scared now. The intensity of the impression was lingering but she had suspicions that whoever they were dealing with knew exactly what force gifts she had. He must have suspected, why bother giving a location? They wanted her to go. Guilty that she didn't tell Rovnak the entire impression she turned to him and spoke hoarsely. “You were correct, we must go to Carromo.” After that she walked from the apartment pensive and worried. It wasn't ideal but the speeder was parked some distance away from the bar. It wasn't busy outside but the music could be heard from outside. Together they walked forwards. “Rovnak, I'm scared.” Mina whispered honestly. He might not know that she wasn't scared for herself, she was scared for what her father and now Rovnak were involved in. What she had found herself involved in. She didn't know. |

Rovnak felt the ebb and flo of Mina's emotions, some more intense than others, always like a tide changing with the times. How she withstood it he was unsure, but he knew that much of the time he battled his own emotions as well. The quiet time spent between them on their way to the apartment complex was unbearable, especially when they had, moments before, been trying to get into character. Her questions about who he would be rang through Rovnak's mind again and again, each time a different identity, each one just as likely as the last to be at a place like Carromo. But one identity in particular rose to mind that would certainly suit both the atmosphere and his currrent garb, one he had worn many times in the past, and the identity that had finally gotten him close to Master Tavrott to force the final confrontation. The time spent at the apartment worried the Master, the confusion, the worry, the fear he felt in Mina drove the Grand Master to the brink of approaching her about what was really going on. Her emotions had touched him, not just because she felt for him, but because she was worried enough, not only about her father, but about him to make a lasting impact. Did he really mean that much to her? Certainly there were other factors at work, Rovnak told himself, but whether or not she felt anything more for him than what he thought, he couldn't tell. Soon enough he felt that worry intensify, and her proclomation that they had to head for Carromo only made him worry further about her. Her concern for him was touching, truly, but he couldn't let her continue down this path if it was going to interfere with everything they had to do; namely rescue her father. When they reached the speeder to head for Carromo, the watchman again set his hand on her shoulder as he let the force guide him out of the parking structure and out into the busy air-ways of Coruscant. He trusted the force with his life, trusted Mina with his life as well, but only one of them gave him any doubts at this very moment. His hand held tight to her shoulder for a few moments, an attempt to ground her, to help pull her back to the moment as he drove through the skyline of Coruscant. With everything that had happened in the past hour or so it seemed that her fears intensified, so much so that when they reached the bar she told him that she was scared. How could he reassure her that everything was alright? He had never quite been in this situation, keeping others from turning to the dark side yes, but Mina being afraid for him, for someone other than herself, this was certainly new territory. He didn't know the right answer, rovnak doubted if there even was one, but in light of everything that had happened and was about to happen, the watchman felt it was time to leap without looking, for once, in order to take on this problem before they tried to solve the bigger issues. The Grandmaster easily took the woman by the hand and led her into a dark alcove outside the bar, a place where they could have a moment to sort things out. There the scout gazed into the woman's eyes and held her chin gently, unfamiliar territory at its height as he gazed into the younger woman's eyes. "You don't have to be afraid Mina... not for me," Rovnak murmured. In a bold, unexpected move, even to himself, the Grand master gently laid his lips on hers in a gentle, reassuring kiss. |

Melting into the kiss would have been easy. Let whatever force that had prompted the kiss carry her away, absolve her of the fears and worries plaguing her at this moment. The last vestiges of common sense stopped her from doing so. It had been a gentle and reassuring kiss; meant to soothe her because clearly a man as intuitive as Rovnak felt the emotions raging war within her. Withholding information from him should have been second nature for a woman like her. She had to tell him the entire truth. It had been no blinding realisation that made her accept that, she had always known that she had to tell him everything from the first moment she had lied by omission. Pulling away from him, it had been harder than she had thought. The guilt she felt must be shown on her face, it had to because she felt like scum at that moment. What had she been thinking in not giving him all the information she held? They could have planned for it. She pushed whatever courage she had up to the forefront of her mind. “I was not entirely honest back at the apartment. I discovered that this will all an elaborate and risky lure to get to me. I am the true target. I don't know what I was thinking. I really am sorry, Rovnak. I thought you'd stop me coming, I don't know.” Frantic words but the truly repentant tone to them showed her honesty now. It had not been easy to speak the whole truth, just as it had not been easy to lie by omission to one of the few people she trusted deeply. Breathing shallowly she looked up at him, what was going through his mind now? She knew he would not hate her, but she could already feel the disappointment he must be feeling. He had deserved better. Her worry for her Father, who despite his faults was the last blood tie she possessed and cherished had stopped her from thinking clearly. Her emotions had blinded her. She needed his forgiveness for withholding the information that could make or break their operation. She felt it in the force, taunting her as the man who she knew had been part of the group who had wanted to lure her to this place. A place where law was not held high. A place where crimes could be carried out, fights could happen with little repercussion. Mina swallowed, suddenly feeling sick. “Predictable, “ the man tssked as he looked at Mina with feral eyes. “You can leave, this business is with Ms Devor only. Feel free to collect the Senator on your way out.” He directed the last part at Rovnak, not even taking his gaze off Mina. “I would have made my presence apparent earlier, but I didn't want to disturb you touching scene. I'm a bit of a romantic that way.” Her hand was sneaking towards her hip, just resting on her weapon. |

What Rovnak felt in that moment when they kissed was not something he was all that familiar with, especially with a woman such as Mina. It was initially meant to help calm her, soothe her in a way that only such intimacy could. But another part of him cried for more, asked him to let it continue the kiss and show her how he felt. But he had duties to attend to, had a mission to complete, and it would do no good to begin their relationship on the sour note that would come with her father dead. They needed to find him first, solve this mystery, and allow his emotions times to brew inside him. Whatever that was, whatever those emotions were, he shut them down and focused purely on the mission. The disappointment that coursed through him made those feelings hard to ignore, however, and he had a difficult time trying to find what sort of emotion he might use to focus his strength and convictions. She had told him the truth, had opened up to him and informed him that she was the real target, not her father. At first he felt pride, then fear and anger, before finally he settled on determination never to let either of them come to harm. He could not allow them to come to harm, as Grand Master, Rovnak had taken an oath to defend all the peoples of the galaxy, and at that moment, he overrode that oath with the idea that Mina and her father were the only people in the galaxy that mattered, to allow him greater strength and conviction in determining what to do. A lecher of sorts interrupted them though, and soon Rovnak felt himself torn between two options: beat the information out of the man, or glimpse it from his mind then toss him from the streets into the pits of Coruscant. Both ideas appealed greatly to him, but the Grand Master knew there was too much at stake here for him to simply take his emotions out on the man before him. So calmly, cooly, he let his mind drift in the current's of the man's mind to catch the images of where her father was. he was inside the bar, a dark corner perhaps, with someone holding a gun very near at hand. Of course, the man before him would want to make it easy on himself, but the Master wouldn't allow that to happen. Whatever path he now walked with Mina, on one of the many untold possibilities that he had seen with Shatterpoint, he was committed to it. "I believe I'll stay, wouldn't want to miss an asshole's head being blown off," replied rovnak as he separated himself from Mina ever so slighty. He wanted to stay close, protect her, and to do that he felt it necessary to keep his distance , but be close enough to cover her in the barriers he could create with the force. "Bring her father here first, then we'll talk. Otherwise I'll just end up pushing you over the railing there and listening to you scream... all with a smile on my face." |

As a child Mina had been fascinated with danger. Often she would place her small hand towards the flames, although she never quite got the chance to let them flicker against her soft skin. Mina loved the rush she would get, it was all forbidden and exciting -- everything her life wasn't. Now the experience was not a novelty to the thirty year old woman. The girl was now a woman well accustomed to such circumstances and now she knew exactly how this could end; Mina was no longer quite so fascinated with danger. Reflecting back on her youthful fascination, she figured that it really had been fate that had given her plenty of opportunities to live out childhood fantasies. Now was not the time to dwell. Having lost focus on the current situation she let out a breath she had not even realised she had been holding and steeled herself. "You heard the man, he doesn't want to leave, " it was a confident voice, a mere projection of her normal ease, however, inwardly she was shaking. There was many variables that could and probably would go wrong. Mina knew what she had to do : fake it until she could make it. Rovnak radiated strength, all she could do was bask in it and hope that by diffusion some of that strength became hers. Mina certainly needed it. Her normally lovely faced had gained a stressed and pinched look to it, it was clear she was not holding it together as well as she had always done. Her vulnerability that was kept buried was showing through. The man was unperturbed by the words spoken. “Tssk. You just had to make things more complicated for me.” His voice had a smooth quality, almost pleasant and although he was clearly a threat at the moment Mina was sure in other circumstances that he could be a very charming man. What she could discern was that he was obviously bored. Her hand gripped her weapon tightly, she didn't like what was going on not at all. What really threw her for the loop was when he signalled lazily and raised an eyebrow looking at Rovnak and Mina. “Happy, the Senator will be on his way momentarily. I can assure you he is all there.” The man grinned wolfishly. “I'm Zellen Marvosall, of course that isn't my mainstream name but I like to be on name terms. “ He glanced at Rovnak expectantly. [Sorry for wait and poor quality, I took so long and it is urghh] |

The fear from Mina was most distracting, the composure she attempted to keep was not something he wanted to see fail, especially at a time like this. Missions were made and destroyed because people didn't say the right things, at the right time, with the right tone, and at the moment she only had her timing securely in her possession. Rovnak could not blame her though, she was here to rescue her father, if he were in the same situation he was not sure his composure or his patience would be much better. At the thought of his composure in this sort of situation, Rovnak was reminded of one of Orin's neutral contacts, a man named Jean Konar. Now there was a man who could keep to a script, not that he ever used one. He had been a drunkard, a man able to gulp down so many drinks he doubted even the most stout of Wookiees could match him sometimes. The bounty hunter now reminded Rovnak much of himself, but there was a difference between the two, and not just because he was a Jedi and Jean was a criminal. Rovnak had patience, knew how to handle diplomacy well, worked with more intricate plans and had far more patience, and hardly ever as blatantly sarcastic, jovial, or blunt as the crimina was. He had once thought to admire the man, but upon looking back at his life, Rovnak knew he was different, and was extremely proud to be so. But the moment called his attention back to the criminal at hand which had finaly named himself; Zellen Marvosall. Good, he had a name and a face to research whenever he returned back to the Jedi Temple, or perhaps just through the records he could access with his datapad. Either way, this criminal would be black-booked so fast he wouldn't have time enough to sneeze before every friend he had turned on him for money or revenge. The idea brought a thin, confident smile to Rovnak's lips, the sort of smile that might breed strength in his friends and set enemies ill at ease. In this case, the smile did put Zellen on his guard, for not long after he asked for Rovnak's name, and the Grand Master was going to give him one. "My name, Zelllen, is Zhar Mellick. Perhaps you have heard of me?" asked Rovnak as he readied to grab his pistol and combat knife. "Slayer of Kaaza the Hutt? The assassin that killed one of the Hutt Syndicate's favorite senators, because they screwed me over on a deal? I have an impressive resume to those that know my name, and I'm half-tempted to add one more name to the list of people I've killed. But to remain cordial, I'm just here to make sure her father survives and that this little deal is worth her time, your time, and most of all, my time." |
