Her emotions were fluttering wildly, if she was not careful they would fluctuate beyond her control. However, unlike other situations this was wholly personal. The man who had been one of two to give her life was in this building, in danger, all because of her. Mina could not disregard that she was wholly at fault for all of this. She was a proud woman by nature; often had she made enemies she could have avoided gaining. Beads of perspiration had gathered at the nape of her neck, they were cold and unpleasant but she found herself uncaring. She swallowed the saliva that had gathered in her mouth, lips pressed together tightly in a line that denoted her unwillingness to speak yet. There was many words she could say, but she suspected that they may not go down well in the current situation. Part of her, a very large part of her wanted to fall back on old habits and mouth off at the so called Zellen. It was tempting. No, she knew better. The Zeltron just had to try and play it cool, she could do that. She closed her eyes momentarily, opened them to reveal eyes of cold determination. Her demeanour was almost entirely different, her shoulders had been lifted from the slump that had developed as her weariness and worry had pounded away at her. Her chin was held stubbornly high, almost arrogant as she became the Mina Devor who was a pain in the rear but far more familiar than the moping one. His smirk only widened. "My Intel does you little justice. It was chance that brought a woman like you to my attention, or rather a common friend. Khorin sends his regards, Mina." His eyes glittered wildly as he watched Mina as if she was an experiment, bubbling over a flame and at any time able to explode. His body language was eager, he was ignoring Rovnak, unworried and perfectly at ease even with hearing of just how dangerous the man was. Khorin, could it be true? Oh, Khorin. Mina forgot to breath as despite the current situation pangs of hope escaped the closely guarded part of her heart, a part that had been pushed away for so long. Despite herself she longed to grab the man and shake it out of him. How did he know Khorin? This man reeked of the dark-side, had he been the one to keep Khorin from her for so long? "You bastard. What have you done with Khorin? " Her father was still in her mind as she spoke but Khorin was foremost. Her first love, a man who she had mourned for ten years. She stepped forwards, she felt strong and full of purpose. "I'll amend my earlier statement. Khorin taught me a little about the force, eight years ago. He told me all about his lovely Zeltron lover. A sweet and innocent student of his. He waxed on and on about you. I think you'd be touched that he has remained faithful for the most part." Zellen grinned, he had spoken with amusement as he watched the expression on her face change from anger to horror. She could feel he spoke the truth. "Why have you lured me here?" She snapped, unsure if she could really believe what the man before her was saying. The force was telling her that she should, her heart was begging her not to. Mina looked to Rovnak, standing strong and silent. Mina had never realised just how much she relied on his support over the years that they had been closely acquainted. Mina noticed that the club was emptier than before, clearly the exchange had garnered enough notice that even under the influence people knew to head to safer grounds. It was again a reminder that things were bound to turn nasty, part of her hoped it would. She was so angry, heartbroken and confused. Mina didn't know what to feel. (Let me know if you want anything changed.) |

Rovnak resisted the urge to put a steady hand on Mina's shoulder, every fibre of his being trained on the thought of resisting the call to be compassionate. As Zhar Mellick he was supposed to be a ruthless killer and deal maker, a man that used everyone from Jedi and Sith to federation senators and Mandalorian Chieftains to get what he needed in order to complete a job. The act of reaching out to steady Mina was out of character for his cover, and although the kiss from earlier could have been considered such, it could also just be a part of the manipulation process. Rovnak hated to think that way, but f they were to have any success at least one of them needed to keep their cool and ensure they had everything under control, or maintain the illusion that they did. "Khorin, I've heard about him," Rovnak mentioned, knowing all too well mina would know he knew everything there wsa to know about the former Jedi, "but as much as a conversation about this Jedi is important, we're here to retrieve her father first." Easily rovnak brought forward his slugthrower, the barrel pointed directly at Zellen's head with all the practiced ease and brutality of a soldier and mercenary. Often rovnak would use the rather unconventional weapon in his work, not just because it was useful, but because it often sent the point home about danger and risk better than a lightsaber or a knife could. The force flowed through him lightly, seeking out the presences of everyone nearby. Zellen hadn't come alone, and the soner he located them, as well as Mina's father, the better. Not only that, but if he could pierce Zelllen's mind at some point to learn more about Khorin, the more likely he would be able to calm Mina down. The fact that whatever expansion of their friendship had little chance of growing finally set in on Rovnak, a feeling of sadness overtaking him for the birefest of moments before he squashed it like a bug. As much as he would have liked to see where that spark would have taken their relationship, he doubted that anything would grow from it while this business with her father and Khorin continued. |

Fate had defied reason. And reason had no room in fate. It was a situation borne from the parables passed on from parent to child. It was an example of being careful what you wished for. Having begged, as her tears soaked pillows each night, screamed to the skies above to return him to her. Mina felt both a fierce joy burn through her, fill her with heat but also alongside that joy, a terrible anger. It seemed logic had not deserted her completely, although, it would have been kinder by far. Khorin Namahr, clearly could not have been the man she had loved passionately. Not any longer. Her first lover had betrayed her in a way she would never have anticipated; Khorin Namahr was who this all led back to. No other knew of her connection to her father. It was not even widely known that he had a daughter, let alone her identity. The force was whispering to her, she was right, it was warning her to tread carefully. Jedi Knight Namahr did not deserve to be remembered as such, he had to be shrouded in the darkness. Despite that realisation; a deep ache had settled in her chest. A heart is such a fragile thing, not easily filled, nor healed but when struck so deeply it is bruised or perforated to such an extent that it can physically hurt you. Mina thought as the betrayal began to truly sink in. He had been gone ten years. His disappearance had to have been planned, for he would never have hidden from her search unless he had done so deliberately. Her knees might have buckled if not for the air of danger that was ever present. The betrayal was forcing her to harden, close herself to frivolous weakness. She only hoped that it would happen quickly enough to keep her from being even more of a baggage to Rovnak. Dependable just as he always was had Rovnak interceding, his weapon raised threateningly. He unlike her poor performance was perfectly in character. That was something she had always admired about him, the one male in her life who was dependable and trustworthy. Mina didn't want to let him down. A rush of air escaped her mouth, it was suddenly became apparent to her that while Khorin had encouraged her to depend on him- Rovnak knew she could stand on her own two feet. Gratitude towards her dearest friend only just dampened the still strong urge to beg for news of Khorin. To shout his name, hope that she would once again lay her eyes on his face. Once more to see his classically handsome face with his lips curved in a smile. To be engulfed by his presence when he embraced her in his arms; feeling safe and adored, the same adoration that had led to her estrangement from the Jedi Order. Her lips curved into a bitter smile. "If Khorin held me so dear in his heart, he could have been in my presence at any time over the past ten years. We both know that he would be forgiven, that I would slavish on him my adoration. That I would be at his side, " it was said with some difficultly, despite her best efforts to conceal her feelings from the two others, all was shown in her eyes. The Zeltron was torn between two. Her lost love resurfacing, but responsible for kidnapping her father to lure her out. "But time and the circumstances have made me far less accommodating. Bring my father now. Then if Khorin wants to see me so badly...he can look me up." Mina truly tried her best to mean those words, she truly was meaning that she would not seek out the man she had spent a third of her life longing to see again. The footsteps ceased. Another had joined the game and this time Mina was not fully prepared as her eyes met the eyes of the man who looked at her with a smile that once had made her swoon. “That is rather cold of you. I've been looking forward very much to seeing you again, darling.” Her heart thudded against her chest. Her eyes looking to Rovnak, anywhere but that man before her. She was beginning to wish it had been a drug-runner of sorts she had gotten on the wrong side of. Whatever was going on here was far worse. A gun at the head of Zellen; Khorin Namahr standing staring at her; her father somewhere in this building and Mina wasn't sure if she wanted to run into the arms of her first lover, or blow his brains out. |

The sudden arrival of the fourth party to this entire situation did not end the tension in the area, only increased it threefold. Rovnak could sense Mina beginning to unravel at the seams, or so he thought, and the fact that he had another, more experienced, enemy to deal with did not bode well. He had hoped to keep his lightsaber hidden, a weapon that was very recognizeable if you had knowledge of the Jedi or of the Sith. Then again, he had never met Khorin in person very often, and few enough people knew the new color of his lightsaber. Once upon a time it had been the purest silver, unlike any other crystal seen in his day until he had a revelation, one that had changed his personality, his life, and eventually, the color of his bonded force crystal. Still, even if Khorin didn't recognize him from database images, it was going to be tough to maintain focus on two different enemies if it came down to a fight, especially since one of them had a very personal connection to Mina. Slowly the grand master drew the hilt from the end of his staff, another exotic weapon that not many identified him with, and held it in a reverse grip in his primary hand. It would be difficult certainly, a trying effort at the least, but this situation needed to be resolved and quickly. There was a story behind everything, and Rovnak felt that if this entire story was unravelled right here, then so too would be the last conscious efforts of Mina to keep herself from falling apart. The Scout couldn't let that happen, and as he glanced from Zellin to Khorin, ideas began to form in his mind as to what to do. He could throw his lightsaber at Khorin, keep him busy with a few wide sweeps of telekinetic lightsaber combat before he returned it to his hand, but he wasn't sure if it would be enough of a distraction. Then of course, there was Zhellin, a wild card that the Grand Master had at gunpoint. It would be simple enough to put a bullet between his eyes, but for some reason he doubted it would be that easy. Lightsabers couldn't deflect bullets, but they could shave off layers of their composition so they did less damage if the bullet was only of a moderate quality, such as rovnak's own bullets. Note to self, ask Mandalorians for Beskar ammunition. "A pleasure to meet you Khorin," Rovnak began softly, "the name's Zhar Mellick, but you can just call me the last person you'll ever see. I'm not picky, so choose whichever you like. So let's make a deal, you bring her father down here nice and safe, then I put a bullet between Zellin's eyes and take this saber I got from an old teacher and stab it into your heart. How's that?" |

The cry escaped her mouth before she even realised how she was reacting. "No!" Mina swallowed alarmed at the urgency she had shouted out with, but the idea of Khorin dead by Rovnak's hands was more than she could manage. Two men she cared for dearly. She knew that Khorin was smirking. He knew her so well that even after a decade he could predict that she couldn't harm him. Mina felt as if she was betraying Rovnak by being so vehement against the idea of Khorin being harmed in anyway. She certainly had to be the worst daughter, for even contemplating stepping between Khorin and Rovnak. Mina despite everything guessed that she loved Khorin still. But her first loyalty was to her father, and Rovnak? The fact she felt the stirrings of uncertainty horrified her. What was wrong with her? "I'm sure we can settle this non-violently. We are old friends...aren't we Khorin. I don't want memories to be marred by blows being crossed." Her eyes went from each of the three men. "You will get my father now, you didn't use to resort to such dramatics to get my attention." Mina commentated dryly looking at her ex-lover less than fondly. "A girl like you was easy to entrance," Khorin answered easily, "so easily smitten. As you wish, I will bring the good Senator to you and you can accompany me alone. We can catch up." The inflection o the last four words was not missed by Mina who tensed. "No. I think we'll be fine here. Time has passed, I'm not quite so smitten any longer, Khorin." The blue haired woman murmured quietly. Images flashing through her head, he knew which buttons to push, far too well. He was the same man, but so different to how she had remembered him. Could it be that she had as a younger woman hid his flaws from herself. Making him out as her Knight, perfect for her. Or had that been true memories and the years had changed him. It was better than the sneaking suspicion that she refused to acknowledge that it had all be an act with her as a victim of manipulation. |

"There will be no catching up of any kind," growled Rovnak as he glanced from Zellin to Khorin. The situation had changed, evrything seemed in flux, and nothing more than Mina's emotions. She was close to the brink of the Dark Side, somethign he had hoped she would never encounter. It was tough to say how she would react, but the moment things went south, he was unsure if she could do anything that might be of help to him without using the dark side. It was a precious perch at best, and as she stepped between himself and Khorin, the grand master wished he could force her out of the way. As a watchman it was his duty to recruit new members into the order, as grand master it was his duty to protect and provide for its members, but at the moment he wanted nothing more than to act as the scout his father had taught him to be so he could shove a blade in Khorin's stomach and end this entire escapade. The doubts that entered Mina's mind were easily caught by the grand master, and the intentions of Khorin from nearby followed not long after. This was not good, if her doubts drove her so far as to protect Khorin, what else might she do? Rovnak hated to question her capabilities and emotional state at a time like this, but with an end-game so close at hand it was difficult not to. She was compromised, he should have stopped this back at the apartment but had let her continue on because he knew she would only grow worse if she didn't. Now, however, she was beyond that idea of "worse" in his mind and seemed to have spiralled into the most dangerous of territory; complete and utter uncertainty of everything around her. The confusion and unease seemed to flow from Mina to rovnak, but just as he had been trained for many decades the watchman locked down his feelings as best he could and glanced between the three others present. "Regardless of your feelings Devor, he's no longer a goody two shoes Jedi, likely he hadn't been a good man for a long time before he left. That's their way, and it happens to them all the time," rovnak began, letting her know that he was certain in his ideas on how to deal with the situation. "Lovers, past or present, or no, I don't care. One less Sith or Jedi around might make the galaxy a better place. And as for Mr. Zellin over here, well, one less wretch to deal with in the future. "So like the woman said," he continued, "bring out her father, hand him over, then leave before my trigger finger gets itchy." |

Dark hair that was almost artistic in how it wildly lay in all directions; the intense blue-gray eyes that barely left her; lips curved in a smirk that appealed to her despite the situation she found herself in. Khorin Namahr had lost the certain wide eyed eagerness she had associated with him. Light stubble that rather than making him look like a tramp served to make him appear rogue like. A term she would never before had ever thought to use when in connection with her ex-lover. He was nearing forty, but only faint lines around his eyes and mouth showed the passage of the years. Part of her longed to reach out and touch his cheek, to feel him and relive happier memories. But as what had become a trend during this situation the rest of her was warring against such an action. Her mind knew that her loyalties didn't lie with Khorin. Her youthful heart had belonged with him, but she was a woman of thirty and knew better to let her heart dictate her. “I am here for my Father. As far as I am concerned...you are dead. The Council declared it so ten years ago. I don't know what has become of you. But you are not the same man, nor am I the same woman. So, hand him over and we part ways...amicably.” She saw it in his eyes. A fleeting but punguent rage that had her taken aback. “Very well,” his words came out almost resigned, and not at all pleasant. He looked at Mina, ignoring Rovnak as if he was but a fly buzzing around but not worth being swatted at. That served only to add to the growing anger Mina was feeling. Oh, she felt so betrayed when looking at a man she had destroyed years of her life for. Denial would do nothing. She was coflicted and once this was resolved she would seek out a bar and lose herself in copious amounts of alcohol and then waste a day or two sobbing in the privacy of a rented room. But now she had to try and actually be of some use. She saw her father appear, dragged by a figure she didn't even bother to study other than a cursory glance. She nearly gasped. Her father looked ill, and ashen if it was even possibly for a Zeltron to do so. She was moving forwards to take him and support his weight when out of nowhere Khorin stabbed something into the side of his neck. Mina screamed in rage as before she even had time to react her father was flung aside like trash. His hand going to his chest. All of a sudden she saw red. He had betrayed her; lured her here; what else had he done but harm her father. He had made her live with a failure for so many years, only to find out now that he had been away on his own choice. She didn't even grab her blaster or motion for her lightsaber but she flung Zellen into a wall and heard the satisfying crack. It satisfied her a little, she had made him hurt. It made her feel powerful. Khorin himself was watching, interest glittering in the eyes that had once fascinated her. Rovnak...she was sure he was trying to stop her, but all Mina cared about was hurting someone. Her hand raised and a wild power was flowing through her, it felt wrong at first but also more powerful than anything she had ever felt. The rage was a potent power. Her fingers were curled and Khorin was at her mercy. She didn't remember how she had gotten into this position...she knew that one small movement and Khorin would be dead. She held that power. |

“Do you understand the type of game you are playing?” The question was straight to the point as she glanced at the senator sitting in front of her. He was not the first she had had captured in the last few days, but he was clearly her favorite. A cold smile played on her lips as she looked at the Zeltron, her arms crossing over her chest as she continued to watch him in cold silence. She had allowed him to speak, knowing that whatever he said would go unheard by anyone on the outside. He was merely a pawn, an extension of her visions as they were played out in real time. Not one question he asked received an answer. Nothing he said to her forced her to alter her plans as she waited patiently for the course of events to unfold. She knew more about the Zeltron than he thought or could possibly conceive, and, of course, she had no intention of telling him just how much she knew. She leaned back in the seat, a wisp of red hair resting across her cheek. “I am playing no game, Senator. If you knew who I was, you would understand that very clearly.” Her words held no inflection, no intonation, nothing that would give away her purpose for doing what she was doing. She watched impassively as he strained at the bonds again, bonds she had made sure to have put in place to ensure that he would have little chance to escape. The Zeltron was tall and strong, and Ariana was not taking any unnecessary chances. “You will be found when I deem it necessary that you be found. We were very careful you know, leaving very little clues behind, but just enough to act as a teaser for your lovely daughter. Do you believe that she will come for you? I am almost certain you warned her when we took out your assistant, but she seems foolish to me, hotheaded and unrefined. She acts first and thinks later, does she not?” Her eyes caught the look that passed across the older man’s face, but she gave no impression of how she felt or thought of the expression. She simply watched him, eyeing him closely even as the club’s music began to grow louder. It was not her decision to pick this particular club, but Khorin and his companion had thought it was a fitting location for what they were planning on doing. Although she was the one in charge and had been the one in planning everything down to this moment, she had allowed the man his moment of power. It amused her to think that he thought so little of just how powerful the fragile-looking woman actually possessed. She felt confident that everything would still go according to plan, according to the series of visions that she had had. “Do not harm her. This is my only warning.” Ariana cocked her head to the side, giving the man a curious look before a cold chuckle escaped her lips. “She will harm herself, Senator, in searching for you, in desiring to see you safe and sound, and in losing you in the coldest of ways. You have not yet begun to understand what the purposes are in this situation.” Footsteps sounded in the room, and she glanced up at the man who had entered. Dark hair and striking blue eyes, she reminded of the Kiffar who had had trained her for several years as she prepared to fully embrace what it meant to be a Sith and live by the laws of the Sith. Only the red facial tattooing was missing. If that had been present, Ariana would have assumed that Torbin had been reborn in another body. Slowly, she rose to her feet, giving the Zeltron senator one last look before she approached the other man, her voice soft as she spoke once again. “Are you still doubting me?” There was a look that passed over the man’s face before she glanced back toward the senator. “I told you that she would be here. I did not anticipate her to bring a friend along, but that is all right. You have your orders.” “You should not tease him.” Her face darkened a moment as she watched the former Jedi. She did not move, did not speak, for several moments before her lips pressed together in a tight line. “Hold your tongue, Khorin.” It was the only warning she would give. “You were fortunate that I allowed you to participate in this. I will not have you demand anything more from me. Am I clear?” She did not give the man a chance to answer as she moved back toward the Senator, standing directly in front of him. Her dark eyes locked with his before she turned away, signaling for another to come closer. She had become an expressionless individual once more as she took a deep breath, her fingers lightly touching the senator’s cheek. “I regret to information, Senator, that you will not return to the world of the living after this day, but do understand that you will become a catalyst to a much greater cause. I will take very good care of your daughter.” She said nothing more as she watched him pulled up from the chair he had been sitting on, the look on his face drawing forth nothing from her. Her features had hardened as she watched him being dragged away, allowing herself a few moments to gather her thoughts as she prepared to complete the task that she had been given. Everything had a place and a purpose in her world. All the visions she had, all the scenes of the past and of the future that were clear in her mind meant something. The set of events she had put into place were all for a reason, even if that reason had not yet made itself completely clear. She took a deep breath before she moved toward the exit, prepared to see the rest of the vision come to the fruition, the parts that she had never disclosed to anyone. Rounding the corner of the hallway, she watched as the woman’s fingers curl before she saw the look on Khorin’s face. Her lips curved into a satisfied smile as she took a few steps closer, carefully making sure that she knew where all of the players were standing along the stage before she communicated, sending a single thought toward the Zeltron woman in the hopes that she would receive it. Kill the man who has caused you so much pain. It will only make you feel better. |

The scene shifted so quickly that Rovnak was at a loss for what to do, especially when he thought of what was at stake. The moment Zellen was flung into the wall and his neck snapped, Rovnak pulled the trigger and let a bulllet sink into his heart. Ifthere was to be death, Rovnak would make his fair share of it in the grand scheme of things, hopefully to keep Mina from being able to take all the blame and slip into the dark side. Before he could turn and fire on Khorin, however, the Zeltron had already unleashed her rage and begun to choke the life from him with the force. A similar scene played in his mind, lightning extended from the tips of a twi'leks fingers ready to strike down the man that had enslaved her. The similarities were too much for Rovnak to see more than once. "Stop this now," Rovnak barked as he advanced on Mina. It was no use, her mind was clouded by the dark side of the force, and another presence approached quickly from down the hall, one that he felt send a message to the young woman before him. easily his senses registered what the woman said, and while it had been directed at Mina, the Grand Master was skilled enough to pluck the idea from her mind and review it himself. Someone else was pulling the strings here, all of it had been to bring Mina to this point, and apparently this final party was the mastermind behind it all. With Mina's father clinging to life and her ex-lover at her mercy, rovnak had no doubt that the one thing she wished to achieve was to make it all end and enjoy the thrill of power that now rushed up her spine. It was a calling that Rovnak had resisted himself long ago, and he refused to see someone as precious as Mina fall to it. To end all of this, or bring an end to it, there were a few options, most of which were unacceptable. But there was one thing, one path that he could take that would hopefully resolve the issues, take away Mina's hatred in some form, or at the very least, let her direct it elsewhere instead of falling to the dark side. Plus the up side to all of this was that the Grand Master might be able to kill more Sith himself, and if there was anything he enjoyed about his job, it was running a saber through someone as black hearted as a Sith. "Mina," Rovnak called out as he moved himself in front of the woman, his hands reaching out to her jaw with gentle force as he forced her to look into his eyes. "I love you." The words fell from his lips like a bombshell, and whether he believed them or not, Rovnak was not sure, but the distraction they would present would hopefully be enough to draw her away from the realm of shadows as he let his mind fire off a message to all in the area except for Mina, a message they would not sooon forget. If she doesn't stop, then whoever is watching is going to find their bodies shattered limb by limb and every old wound opened by the force. |

“I love you.” Those three words penetrated the potent haze of rage. The shock of hearing them from Rovnak made her drop her hold on Khorin, although her rage had not lessened. In fact she longed to further the rush and end it. The arrival of the other woman had hardly been of consequence, Mina hadn't cared. But when she turned her attention to Rovnak, she felt and saw his horror at what he had witnessed. Suddenly the rush of power wasn't so addictive as her eyes wandered. Khorin lay gasping for breath, probably having only been seconds from unconsciousness or death, a unsteady hand reaching to massage his throat. Then to her father who lay, clutching his chest and gasping for breath as his hold on life weakened. “What have I done?” Mina whispered as she fell to her knees, suddenly her legs unable to hold her wait. The boots dug against her rear uncomfortably, but she didn't care. All she realised was that she had killed a man in anger. No, a man when in the thrall of the dark side. She knew she should feel guilty, but she didn't. She laughed, the force of it shaking her violently. What had she become? Mina, she had always despite not being a Jedi remained rather loyal to their tenets, but now she had touched the forbidden fruit. She had lost herself to the addictive power that was the dark side. Never before had she ever truly known the appeal. The power was invigorating, it made everything seem pointless. It made her hunger for more. Her hair had somehow fell forwards, framing her face as she looked around. Long lashed eyes glittering with unshed tears, ones she struggled to hold back as she blinked. Her breathing was erratic. Her legs refused to listen as she tried to stand. If she could see herself in a mirror she could be likened to a lost child. Then she finally processed the message, a telepathic message. Love. This woman was a significant figure. How? Mina didn't know. She didn't want to know. Khorin was the man she loved, right? She swallowed nervously. How could she have almost killed a man she had supposedly loved. He had killed her father, or as good as. She could feel the older Zeltron's pathetic flicker of life, he was a strong man and he thought to hold on. No medical aid could save him now. Rather than anger a certain measure of despair hit her. How could Rovnak love a murderess? Did she even feel the same way? Rovnak was good. A patient man who despite being serious was compassionate. He led the Jedi well; he was her pillar who reminded her of who she had once been: a Jedi. She had abandoned the Jedi in anger, lost in her own pride to even make amends. He had stood by her, she looked at him once more expecting to see disgust in his eyes. She saw only Rovnak. Regaining a measure of wits she shuffled herself to her fathers side. A shaking hand to his hair as he wheezed. He had a pallor to him, it would not be long now. “I'm sorry.” She whispered and it was only then a tear fell. |
