New Sith Order
Planet: Lykos

Year Length: Approximately 1.2 standard years

Climate: Due to the elliptical rotation of the planet Lykos is often shrouded in darkness with the waters frozen over. There is a short one month period where the planet pulls close enough to the sun for the water to melt the blizzards that constantly ravage the planet during the winter to die down. It’s during this short break that the markets are held and the gods messengers are sent to find the greatest of the tribes warriors.

Population: unknown

Government: There is no centralized government present on Lykos; instead the separate tribes often fight over what little resources are to be had from the hostile environment. Sometimes a more powerful tribe will control a larger region but this doesn’t often last.

Species: Lykosian; near human species that has developed in isolation. To deal with the cold climate the hair on the Lykosians has thickened to fur. With the low light conditions of the planet the people also developed yellow eyes to see better within the darkness that accompanies the long and dark winters of their home planet.

People: The people of Lykos are divided into hundreds of separate tribes that are set around the planet. Each tribe has its own heroes, legends, songs, and leaders. The one thing that binds them is their desire for glory and the belief in the gods and the everlasting war in the stars.

A Lykosian is capable of living almost 150 years, though due to their cultures constant battles the average lifetime is only about sixty years. Those few that manage to live that long are considered hero’s of their tribe. Those taken to fight in the stars don’t last much over five years, those that do often last as professional soldiers, training the next generation of leaders for their regiment.

Due to the high number of deaths amongst their people Lykosians are often born in sets of four to six, with maybe two of those who were born living to be old enough to reproduce. Population has started to drop on planet with the best of their warriors being taken to fight for the gods. This has resulted in some tribes women to be taken with the warriors who go in order to breed more warriors to fight. It’s too soon to see if this will cause the population to stabilize or simply lead to the gods messengers not coming back as often.

History: Legends among the tribes tell of a time when their people came across in a great sky ship that brought them to Lykos by will of the gods to strengthen their people for trials ahead. The greatest of these early warriors was known as Lyko and it was under him that the people first united to explore the lands and find the few masses that were part of the planet. After the death of Lyko the tribes started to fight instead of trade and without a strong leader to replace Lyko the people settled into their regions, raiding their neighbors for essentials such as food, animals, and women.

The technology of the tribes has remained mostly unchanged since the settling of the planet, with originally scrap being used for weapons. Since then what little iron can be collected by the tribes used for weapons. Due to the conditions of the weather it is all but impossible for technology to work on Lykos.

Such was the way of things until almost two lifetimes ago when visitors started to visit Lykos and meet with the tribes. The strangers promised the tribes best men a chance to fight beyond the stars, where the gods themselves walked. Ever eager for the chance to prove themselves in battle and for a chance at immortality the men of Lykos flocked at this chance. Since this time the messengers of the gods have come to visit their people and take the strongest warriors from each tribe to fight for a chance at immortality.

Galactic Significance: The Lykosians are used primarily for two roles within their operations. One roll is as scouts and covert ops, cutting supply lines and striking at enemy leaders or reporting on the strengths of enemy troops. The second is as assault troops to cut out the heart of enemy resistance through the wholesale slaughter of their command or gouge a hole in enemy defenses to send the rest of their men through.

Military Structure: Running along traditional lines of command in the military the Lykosians bonds of brotherhood are passed from their tribes to their unit. The officers are recognized as warriors with overwhelming charisma, often the sons of chieftains. These officers serve from the front more as warlords, including the colonel who often is fighting where the assault is the most difficult.

Potential officers are often gathered into the guard of the Colonel and serve with him in the hardest fighting, they also sit in on briefings of senior officers to learn just how things are done.
