Well, from the looks of it the Empire/Remnant is no longer around therefore I suggest you all make Federation characters. |

The answer I got from Silas back when I had a similar question was that the Imperial Remnant, in the board's history, sort of ceased to be starting to merge in with the Federation. Be that as it may, IC the Remnant was only twenty years in the past, so who's to say that some younger characters who were raised by die hard Imperials wouldn't have Imperialist ambitions? And whose to say at the prodding of those Imperials who are still loyal to the idea of Empire, these two generations of Old and New Imperials might not begin to plot with one another? I'm almost on the verge of returning to full-time status here, and when I do I was planning on making a soldier character with a family that had a past as stormtroopers, so there'd be at least one son on the Empire floating around. |

I wouldn't go that far. What I would say is that the Imperial Remnant oriented characters would take their time within the Federation to strengthen it against the threat the Sith represent, as the Sith have made it their mission to tear apart the Federation. So for the moment, the Imperial planets would exist underneath the banner of the Federation. Kind of like how Soviet Russia was, and now Communist China is, an important part of the United Nations. Although they're totalitarian dictatorships, they both were underneath the banner of collective security that the UN represents. So the Imps would kind of be a subfaction underneath the Feds, which is how the Fed is supposed to work anyway. They don't dictate how a government runs its domestic affairs, they're just concerned with foreign affairs. Monarchies exist underneath the Federation, as do democracies. In the future, they're may be a conflict, but as far as the board is concerned at the moment the Imperials are just a member nation of the Galactic Federation of Free Planets. The Planets who are Imperial, just happened to freely choose to be Imperial. These would be planets such as Bastion, which is always Imperialist in thought. Once the Fed has a firm foothold, things might change. |

Ah okay. That makes sense. Thanks for the clarification. Maybe I'll make or transition a character. |

Im going to make an executive decision here and say that the Imperial Remnant has ceased to exist. The Remnant and the Federation are two entirely different factions with two entirely different views of how govt.'s should work. To think that one can coincide within another in a lesser form is ludicrous. Especially given that some assume that the Imperial Remnant would form some sort of sub-governmant. It is true that the Federation does support other sub-factions but these sub-factions have the same general ideals as the Federation and I have a hard time seeing the Federation as adopting such a thing. The Imperial Remnant can operate as a rebel mini faction with no affiliation to the Federation. We (as staff) are simply trying to give the site time to grow before green lighting too many new factions. Sorry if this is abrupt or rude, feel free to shoot me with a PM with any questions. |

That sort of jostles up my Lenn character entirely, but, hey, he's Fed military but an Imperial citizen leading a mostly Imperial unit. |

Unless I'm misinterpreting, I disagree here. I could definitely see some sort of Imperialist Party forming within the Federation and gradually gaining influence - eventually to a point where they could break off from the rest of the Federation with enough power and influence to maintain and defend a handful of systems. Obviously, that could wait for when you think think we're ready as a site to expand the factions. To say the Federation wouldn't allow it, even here in the US (a singular government body) we have the American Nazi Party and the like. Nothing that I don't really know how the Fed leaders would feel about that, just an observation. I think it would make no sense for them to entirely disappear, but again, I don't think that's what you're implying. |

It's not, IC. OOC is a different story. Like I have said, I do not have issue with a few members trying to revive the group -- I just don't think it should be approached as jumping onto an already moving vehicle complete with ships, high command, troops, dignitaries and territorial boundaries. |

It makes sense for them to exist as a nation in-character, but I understand why you won't make them a faction int heir own right. SO long as I can play Lenn and interact with the Imperial government, I'm fine. |
