Name: Vekis Devin Solborne
Homeworld: Naboo
Nickname/Alias: Vek
Date of Birth: 31 ABY

Faction: New Sith Empire
Rank: Imperial Executor/Rogue Force User

Species: Human
Height: 5'9"
Weight: 170 lbs.
Hair Color: Brown
Skin Color: Caucasian

Appearance:

By human standards, Vekis Solborne is quite handsome. Standing at 5'9" and weighing in at 170 pounds, he is in excellent physical shape, although he is not a muscleman, but instead he is lean and compact in terms of his body shape. His face, still possessing youthful features, is blessedly free of wrinkles (even the dread crow's feet around the eyes) and scars, as well as any unwanted facial hair--he is very clean shaven. His brown hair (which is kept short and , brown eyes and slightly tanned skin color match quite well. He has no tattoos or piercings, finding the former quite offensive and the latter inappropriate for a man. While has no scars on his face, he has a few on his torso...a person cannot train frequently with a lightsaber without acquiring at least a handful. Further, Vekis was fortunate enough to be born without any birthmarks or other deformities.

In terms of his dress, these days, with his appointment as Imperial Executor and a much greater involvement in the New Sith Empire, he wears expensive Norris robes, which are made from a rare fruit from the planet Almar. Not only are they robes, which are in the cut of a Jedi Knight, a beautiful hue, they are also resistant to energy weapons due to unique properties of said fruit as well as an armorweave underlay, which also adds some protection against piercing weapons. He almost always carries his lightsaber and ELG-3A blaster pistol clipped to the belt of the inner robe. If the need arises, he will of course don other clothing.

Personality:

Perhaps the first thing one might notice about Vekis is that, unlike most other Sith, he is a basically nice and caring individual, as well as generally happy. The only reason he got involved with the Sith Order is because they offered him a spot in the newly-reborn University of Dreshdae's graduate program studying archaeology. Further, they offered him a chance to make use of their collection of Jedi holocrons and facilities at the Sith Academy for person training in return for providing assistance in the Sith's various archaeological operations. As time went on, he was brought into a more and more active role within the Order, including serving as Interim Headmaster of the Sith Academy and, later, as the de facto chief archaologist for the Order, but he has never quite adopted their philosophical outlook on the nature and use of the Force. Still, he is loyal to the Order, thankful for the assistance and opportunities that have been afforded him. Further, one major reason he was so recently picked to serve as Imperial Executor is because he is seen as a 'safe' individual by both the Dark Lord and the other members of the Council of Lords...he will not try to overthrow the current leadership or be a competitor to any plots among the other Council members.

Another key facet of Vekis Solborne's personality is his intellect, which is augmented by his skill of Force Comprehension. He sees himself as an intellectual and has his undergraduate degree in archaeology from Theed University on Naboo and his Master's degree in the same field from Korriban's Dreshdae University--he became too busy fulfilling his end of the agreement with the Sith to ever finish his Doctorate. He is an avid reader, especially of Force-related materials, and, even as a child, he dedicated a great deal of his time to learning about the Force, making use of a family heirloom: a holocron of Jedi Grandmaster Yoda that Vekis's paternal great-grandfather, an Imperial officer, had taken as a war prize during the raid on the Jedi Temple on Coruscant. The only reason he maintained good grades as a child, instead of completely obsessing over the holocron, was because of his parents' insistence, but he did do well enough in high school to get into college and he majored in archaeology because he felt that would allow him the opportunity to seek out Force-related artifacts and relics.

Due to his spending dedication to self-training in the Force and also his academic prowess (at first, enforced by his parents and, later, self-motivated), one that suffered greatly was his social life. As a child, when not at school, he was either making use of the holocron or studying at his house, rarely spending time with his peers. It was the same way in college as well. His involvement with the Sith changed things slightly, requiring him to interact with other people more, but he still enjoys his 'alone' time, although he finds he has less and less of it these days. Even when he is away from other people, he now often has a lot of administrative work to do, managing and overseeing. Fortunately, he seems to have knack for it. One quirk of his personality is that he tends to be demonstrative, hugging and patting people on the back and such.

Weaknesses and Strengths:

STRENGTHS:

-Highly intelligent: Even without the Force to bolster his memory and analytical skills, Vekis is a naturally gifted in the realm of intellect. He tends to be a fast learning, usually grasping concepts, even complex ones, and their applications quite easily.
-Strong in the Force: It was his inherently high midichlorian-count that brought him to access the Yoda holocron as a young child and receive instruction in it. Over the years, he has excelled in his training in the Force. He has always been very diligent in his training and that has served him well.
-Joyful: Even when things are going badly, Vekis tries ti maintain an inner sense of joy. It should be noted that joy is quite different from happiness. While happiness is a circumstantial emotion, joy is an interior choice of the will and intellect to look beyond the momentary situation. For Vekis, it is the Force that he looks to, recognizing that regardless what is happening at any moment, it is all part of the ebb and flow of the Living Force.
-Independent: Vekis prefers to rely on himself if at all possible. It is not that he is antisocial (although he sort of used to be) or untrusting, it is that he enjoys that sense of personal satisfaction knowing he has done what he set out to do. Much of his Force training has been sort of a self-study, using the ancient wisdom of the holocrons and the writings of various Force Users from time gone by. If there is a problem, such as a mechanical issue on his Skipray, he would much rather repair it himself, even if it means studying up a bit, than sloughing it off for someone else to deal with.
-Lightsaber combat: One area where Vekis has concentrated his training, especially once he got access to Sith facilities and material, was lightsaber combat, although he had been practicing with a lightsaber (specifically an old training saber his father had purchased for him) since he was quite young.
-Calm: Having received much of his early training from Master Yoda's holocron, it is no surprise that Vekis is a serene person, trying to avoid excessive displays of emotion. He often uses the Force to calm himself if he is stressed out or nonplussed.
-Administrator: Based on his experience as Interim Headmaster of the Sith Academy and, later, as the de facto chief of archaeological operation, he seems to have a talent for administration and that was one reason he was very recently chosen to serve as Imperial Administrator. One thing he learned as Interim Headmaster was to make do with little and during a troubling situation. That sort of knowledge will definitely come in handy now.

WEAKNESSES:

-Very demonstrative: Vekis is what one might call 'touchy-feely'. He would much rather greet someone with a hug than a handshake. He is always putting his arms around people, patting people on the back and the like. While his intentions are wholesome and friendly--he is no dirty old man or something--many people do not like such invasions of their personal space.
-Pacifistic: While, as would be expected of any high-ranking Sith Force User, he is proficient in the art of combat, he prefers to settle things without violence. While he will defend himself and others, he will rarely, if ever, instigate aggression against another person. He does not like violence and sees at as just a crude manner of resolving problems; however, he recognizes that sometimes force is necessary for the greater good.
-Apolitical: Unlike many Sith who engage in backbiting and scheming, Vekis tends to stay, as he might view it, above all that sort of base behavior. He is loyal to the New Sith Empire and has little interest in getting drawn into gamesmanship. Obviously, a number of his fellow Sith take his choice to stay out of the political game as either a sign of weakness or naivete.
-Ranged combat: Although he carries a blaster pistol of self-defense, Vekis is no expert marksman. The primary reason for this is that he rarely practices with his blaster pistol, instead preferring to spend his free time studying and training in the Force.
-Nice: Seen as a weakness in the Sith Order, Vekis is a generally pleasant person. While he may be loyal to them and, now, very involved in their inner workings, he has never really accepted the use of the Dark Side. Heck, all of the Force powers he has trained in are either neutral or light, not dark.
-Stubborn: Like a lot of intellectual types, Vekis tends to assume that his decisions, made after careful consideration and weighing of data and pros and cons, are the best, or at least most reasonable, ones. Thus, once he has decided on a course of action, he can be quite difficult to get to see an alternative path.

Equipment
-Lightsaber: Vekis carries a very simple lightsaber, the same one he originally constructed when he was in training. It is a simple chrome cylinder with rubber hand-grips. The blade is green.
-SoroSuub ELG-3A blast pistol: Other than his lightsaber, he carries a small ELG-3A "Diplomat's Blaster" holstered in the folds of his robes for personal defense.
-Solborne's Pride (GAT-12 Skipray Blastboat): Perhaps one of Vekis's few extravagances, he fell in love with the Skipray Blastboat a long time ago. Small enough to be piloted by a single individual, especially with the automation upgrades he installed to handle gunnery, it is just large enough to have a very small passenger compartment--complete with fold out bed, mini-refresher (you can shower and use the toilet at the same time), and holovids and mini-galley--behind the command cabin. He has put a lot of money into the heavy fighter, including an upgraded hyperdrive (from Class 2.0 to Class 1.0), navicomputer, sensor suite and targetting computer.
-Small collection of Jedi holocrons: Over the years, in the course of his studies, he has collected a few Jedi holocrons which he often uses, both for personal training and to consult the wisdom of the great Jedi sages. Sadly, most of the holocrons are of relatively minor historical Jedi and Sith; however, he does have a holocron of one famous Jedi Master, Yoda, and this was his first holocron that he used for his early training and had been acquired by his grandfather, an Imperial officer who had been involved in the sacking of the Jedi Temple.
-Norris robes: Now that he sits on the Council of Lords, Vekis usually wears a very rare kind of robe that is colored with a dye made from the root of the Norris plant--the plant is found only on the tropical planet of Almar. Not only is the Norris-dyed reddish-orange shaded robe very beautiful, but also energy resistant (a unique property of the Norris root dye). Beyond these natural properties of the Norris plant, the robes were constructed with an armorweave underlay providing improved protection. Oddly enough for a Sith, the robe is in the cut of a Jedi Knight.

History:

Vekis Delvin Solborne was born on the planet of Naboo to Golan and Bara Selborne. Golan, his father, was an officer in the Royal Naboo Security Forces and Bara, his mother, was an Assistant Professor of History at Theed University. It should be noted that Golan's side of the family had a long and proud military tradition: Golan's father (Vekis's grandfather) and grandfather (Vekis's great-grandfather) had both been officers in the Imperial military. In fact, Golan's grandfather has been a junior Imperial Army officer involved in the sacking of the Jedi Temple on Coruscant and, during that mission, he had acquired a holocron of the Jedi Grandmaster Yoda (there were multiple holocrons constructed by him). It was now considered a prized family heirloom.

This holocron would probe to be of immense use to Vekis, the Solborne's only child, as he got a little older. To activate the holocron, one had to have a significantly high midi-chlorian count (the button on it had a minute scanner that read the blood through the finger which pushed it). Although neither of Vekis's parents were sensitive to the Force, Vekis himself was bless with a strong level of attunement. The first time he activated the holocron, he was only three years and his parents were quite amazed by this and decided to allow him to explore it.

Attending a local public school, whenever he was not in class or studying, he could often be found with the holocron of Master Yoda. He also checked out various holos from the local library regarding the Jedi. Slowly, through the interactive instruction of Yoda's holocron, he began to train in the ways of the Force. It became an obsession of his, he would spend hours in his room learning from the old Jedi Grandmaster--a holocron was designed to be completely interactive, more than just an instructional holo, but as if one was sitting across the table from the holocron's creator. Yoda had been dead for several decades by now, but his wisdom and training carried on through that most amazing of electronic devices. He would follow the holographic Yoda's instructions, practicing his meditation, learning various methods of allowing the Force to flow through him. He had to wonder if it not somehow been the immutable destiny of the Force that had led his great-grandfather to seize that war prize on that terrible day the Jedi Temple was raised and burned.

Somehow, despite his fixation on the holocron and growing in his knowledge of and skills within the Force, he managed to keep his grades. Likely, it was because his parents would settle for nothing less. While they accepted that their only child wanted to, if it was feasible, learn the ways of the Force, they did not want him shirking his studies. If anything suffered, it was his social life. Why did he need friends when he had Grandmaster Yoda himself to interact with? Despite any reservations his parents might have had with his constant use of the holocron, they did buy him a training saber--it had probably been originally constructed in the Old Republic days before ending up in a curio shop--and he began rudimentary practicing of the lightsaber arts. While the holocron Yoda was able to teach him and instruct him in the basics, he knew he would have to find another way of training in that area. At least the training kept him in good shape though.

After graduating from high school at the age of 17, he enrolled in Theed University, majoring in archaeology. Honestly, he wanted to find more holocrons, as well as other Jedi artifacts, and he recognized that becoming a legitimate archaeologists was the best way of guaranteeing that. As a student at the university, he also had access to more research materials, such as holojournals of ancient Jedi and other primary and secondary sources. A bright young man by nature, augmented by his studying of what is commonly called Force Comprehension, he continued using the Yoda holocron, practicing with the ancient training saber, as well as devouring everything he could find on the Jedi, all while keeping his grades high enough to get into graduate school. Again, as during his more formative years, it was his social life that suffered. Also, it was during the Summer of his second year that he finally constructed his own lightsaber based on the instruction of the holocron Yoda.

Once he finished his undergraduate degree, he was invited to continue his studies at the fledgling University of Dreshdae on Korriban. His name had come up on the Sith Intelligence and Assassination Bureu's radar due to his combined interest in archaeology and Force-related issues. They had checked up on him, secretly of course, noting his search for Jedi material and that a higher than average amount of his coursework was geared towards Jedi-related archaeological topics. They had then gotten a man close enough to him to determine his sensitivity to the Force.

Even as he studied archaeology at the graduate level on Korriban, the Sith made him a unique offer: assist them in their various archaeological expeditions on the ancient Sith planet and, in return, they would allow him access to their Jedi holocrons, of which they had a few, and the use of their training facilities. Still in relative disarray, the New Sith needed individuals with archaeological training as they dredged up old tombs and went searching for various artifacts. Most happily, he agreed...this was the break he had been searching for.

Gradually, less and less of his time was spent on the study of archaeology. Instead, he was fulfilling his part of the deal by assisting the Sith, as well as making use of their collection of Jedi holocrons--since they were Sith, they saw little personal use for them, so what did they care if Vekis was perusing them? Also, he dedicated a great deal of time to saber practice as well. At first, it was just sparring with their training droids and remotes, as well as studying their training material, but eventually he grew confident enough to practice with Sith apprentices and acolytes. Again, the Sith saw little problem with this since it was helping to train their people in combat.

As things began to deteriorate in the Sith--disappearing leaders, infighting and the like--they began to expect more from him. Oh yes, at first, they had been content to let him work with their archaeological teams, but now, they needed everyone who was willing and able to contribute more...a lot more. Since he seemed to excel in lightsaber combat, they tasked him with training acolytes and apprentices. They also wanted him to teach various primary and secondary-level academic courses to young and future Sith at the Academy. With a lot of the more powerful Sith getting killed in the chaos, they even began to have him teach fundamental Force skills. In a way, this helped hone his own skills in the Force and with the lightsaber.

His precipitous rise within the New Sith Empire started quite recently, only a couple of years ago. With a lot of high-level Sith caught in the continued chaos, he was appointed Interim Headmaster of the Sith Academy. Primarily, his role was administrative, making sure everything ran as best as possible. With shortages of instructors and materials and a political mess in the Order overall, this was no easy task, but he did his best. Several months later, another responsibility was thrown upon him: Assistant to the Sith Loremaster for Archaeological Affairs. Even as the Sith Order was going through pangs of disorder and strife, it was firmly believed by some in the higher levels that if they could find more key artifacts, it would strengthen the Sith overall, improve morale and promote a sort of historical unity.

For the next year or so, he served in this position, spearheading more and more searches for ancient Sith relics. Making use of a lot of the students at the Academy, as well as hired mercenaries (the Sith were less concerned with proper archaeological procedure and more with finding relics), digs sprung up all over Korriban and even on other planets with a known history of Sith involvement. Despite the shoddy nature of these expeditions, quite a few relics and artifacts were located...more like 'grave robbed' than anything else.

Finally, the worst of the chaos was over and the New Sith Empire was slowly, but surely, uniting around its new Emperor and Dark Lord, Darth Infernus. One of the needs now was filling out key positions on the Council of Lords, including the role of Imperial Executor. At this point, one of the greatest concerns of the new Emperor's was not having more infighting and, frankly, if you give a powerful and, by implication, ambitious Sith Lord (of which there were very at this point anyway) control over the military, what are the chances there will be a new Emperor very soon? The other members of the Council of Lords were not too thrilled at the idea of a powerful and ambitious Sith Lord serving as Executor either. After all, they did not want potential competition for the Emperor's throne either, but they all recognized that an Executor was an important part of the operation.

It is still unclear how Vekis's name ended up suggested for the role. After all, he had no military experience, but he had shown himself to be an adept administrator...doing as best as could be expected with very little, whether as Interim Headmaster at the Academy or as the de facto chief of archaeological issues under the Loremaster. More than this, he was also viewed as non-threatening by both the other Lords and the Emperor himself. Further, he was skilled enough in the Force and with the lightsaber that the various Council members could worry less that he might get pressured into supporting a competitor. All in all, he was the ultimate compromise candidate.

Thus, despite not being a Sith Lord nor even a real practitioner of the Dark Side, Vekis Solborne found himself given administrative control of the New Sith Empire's military forces.

Nailed it.

There should be around four extra force powers aside from the core powers. There are currently seven listed, just a heads up. Also, just a heads up, when we spoke about the powers and rank I was simply giving guidance based on how I would approach this character, I was not giving it my official stamp of approval since there would be no need to post the character here if I had gone ahead and approved. B)
Sirra Vale (Jedi Knight)
Ariadne Adate (Federation Chief of Senate)
Elden Lesius (Sith)
